Discussion: What Define a Major Plus Player, a Major Player and a AAA player and Who rates Them

I've heard some good reasons for rating players.I beleive that everyone really knows their true abilities.I feel that a team that's winning tournaments should be moved to the next higher div.& shouldn't be allowed to move down in divisions just to play in a tourn. I also feel that if a team feels that they can use a lower level player on their team that that player should accept the new classification. As a kid & as of now I prefer to play against the best because I felt that is what would make me a better player. Sure when a team is moved to a higher class, you may not win as many games as you're use to winning, but don't forget that other teams would love to have the chance to win that big game. Don't forget that we all should be very glad to have the chance to play the game we've always loved and especially at our age. It shouldn't all be about winning.

Discussion: Blowing up the middle in Senior Softball - are screens next???

I've listened to both sides of the issue of going up the middle. I'm a pitcher also but I can't speak anybody else, but i sure wouln't want to pitch behind a screen at this level. To me the middle is part of the field and i try to get hitters to go that way and hope that i'll be able to stop the ball and make the hitter try to hit somewhere where my fielders are located. Myself, i wouldn't want to put on protective equipment because i feel it would stoop my ability to get out of the way. Now i've played against teams where some hitters would let me know that they were going up the middle and i would knod to them that it was okay. I always try to protect mysel at all times. I feel that when it gets to a point where i can't protect myself on the mound ,then i knew it was time for me to play another position, but that's just how i feel about goint up the middle.
