Discussion: Mercy Rule,

WE played a game in Vegas where we were down 27 runs going into the 5th inning.
I know the mercy rule is 20 after 4 and 15 after 5. Coming to bat in the bottom of 5th the most runs we could score would be 9 which would still leave us 16 runs short so it would still be a mercy.
We decided not to bat, since we couldn’t catch up!
My question is shouldn’t all games be played with an open inning regardless of the SCORE? If we had scored our 9 or whatever runs in the bottom ½ of the inning, shouldn’t the flip fop rule come into play and the open inning started? Thus giving us the chance to win the game if possible instead of being mercy?

E4 you must be a sport reporter….You took one word from my sentence and made YOUR OWN STATEMENT…..You stated you filled belittled? Where did that come from in my statement? All I stated was here you have the best 55 & 60 players playing at the worst park in Vegas and that should never happen!!!!! I think you should check your thought process? I know what I meant, and from the looks of the thread, others understand also, except you!
@ Johnny Hose great job coaching us this season!!
@Swing see you Friday for that beer & bet!
@Webbie it was my pleasure meeting you finally after all the chatter on this board & Congrats to all the Winners & Losers

E4 did you play at a crappy field/ park? If not, I suggest you keep your month closed!
I mention the 55’s & 60’s because that’s who had to play on those fields and risk injury, I didn’t mention anything about the other age groups or divisions or parks! Are you trying to say that the lower divisions usually play with these type of field / Park Conditions? Did you not read the part about SSUSA should NEVER EVER use parks like theses? That includes using them for the lower divisions! Hope you feel better now!

1st, I would like to thank the Staff, Umpires & Crew of SSUSA for putting on a very Competitive, Fun & Entertaining Tournament for the 55 & 60 Major + Divisions.
Congratulations to MTC for winning the 55 Division & a special congrats to Connecticut Sportsplex for Kicking our Ass 3 times….lol
WHY SSUSA?? WOULD YOU PUT THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE 55’s & 60’S disvion on the WORST FIELDS in SSUSA WORLD Tourney history?????? Why?? This for me took a lot of the fun out of the game. The outfields were worst then the infields. Holes, dips, High infield lips, bases not staying down. Cheyenne Park was BAD 20 years ago and it’s still the worst Park in Vegas!!!! I hope no one was injured from the bad VERY BAD FIELD CONITIONS & we don’t want to even talk about the RESTROOMS!!!….This is just not acceptable for what we do as a group for SSUSA! This Park should never ever be used again in a SSUSA Event! NEVER, unless reconstructed like Doc Romeo

Discussion: Vegas 33 Major Teams

Wow, it looks like a very good field this year in the 50 Majors in Vegas.
Wouldn't it be nice to have this many teams in 5 or 6 tourneys a year?
1 for SSUSA, 1 for ISSA, 1 for SPA, 1 NSA and then all winners and runner-ups play one big World at the end of the year? I know travel cost!!!

Discussion: Is it too much to expect ice water in the dugout?

Stick, It’s a stationary Bike with an adjustable tension knob to simulate Hills and flat ground. Some may call it indoor cycling but most call it Spinning! Most Tour de France riders use them for training.. I play music and you pedal to the beat! Great cardio with no impact on the joints!

You should be drinking H2O at all times during the day and night, not just on the ball fields. If you know it's going to be hot on the weekend you're playing, start hydrating a few days before the tourney? That way if you forget your water & Gatorade you won't feel as hot. Maybe?
I teach a Indoor Spin class a few days a week, and it kills me to see folks young & Older not bring a towel & Water, it's indoors, no A/C & I works ur AZZZ off! 1000 calories in an hour! But they won't or don't know how to hydrate!

Discussion: Player Ratings

Webby, I here ya…..But aren’t most rated players done by the HR’s hit or division they play in? The big boys get rated based by on base percentage & HRs. So let say you’re a 50 major player and the average HR hit in that division is 50 per season or on base per. is over 750…..If you hit 10 over the average then you’re reclassified as a major plus player……or if you’re on base percentage is over 750 same thing?
I really understand your point on needing more personnel for something like this, that why the owness should be put on the manager’s to enter the data.
Steve, Softball is a HITTER’s game, everything else falls on deaf eyes……But I do get your point!

I think if a rating system was put into place, it should include only 3 stats based on classification, games played, and …ASSIST, ERRORS, & ONBASE PERCENTAGE. But with only 3 divisions….The manager’s would have to be require to have a satiation , turn the stats into SSUSA and any Excel spread stat sheet can be created as long as the data is entered correctly…Most teams send their stats to the team anyway after a tourney……..

Discussion: Ambush Review

I have About 100 swings on my Ambush 26oz EL, so far it swings a little lighter, then let’s say the White centenarian end load. If you hit on the sweet spot the ball seems to jump a little! I’ve hit a few balls on the hands and felt a slight varibation, it has not produce the distance just yet, but it took about 600 cuts to get my Black centenarian broken in. After reading everyone’s post, I guess there’s more break in time that’s needed, but for now my gamer is still the White & Black centenarian…..I will post again after this week’s round of hitting which should get the AMBUSH to around 200-250 hits..Using 44/375 balls

That will never happen, these bats are made to break..The bat companies would lose their mind trying to replace all the bats that we break in any given year!!!
