Discussion: Which Bat should I use?

Big Mike,
IMO the only thing you can do nowadays to perserve a bat is to break it in with about 30- 50 BP swings..Then put it ur bag until game time at bats only, no more BP......Just my 2 cents!!

Jeff,
I think the line is drawn at the Illness. Iím speaking Softball!!
Iím just wondering why the guys that take that shit without any Illness or Injury but just for looking good & cut at 50+
They have little talent, so they need that edge (I guess) in order to compete, and thatís where this conversation started!

Taking Prescribed Steroids for Psoriasis is not something I know about.
I do believe that taking Roids will crew you up over the long haul &
Iím not a very big FAN of Doctors and their prognosis of the goings on in our bodiesÖI will die sooner then later if I have to take medication in order to live pain & dieses free!

Kennard No worries, I understand about you guys taking whatever it is that your Dr. states you need for the CONDITION THAT YOU HAVE....

But not for being able to compete on the 50+ Senior Slow Pitch Softball Major Plus Level!!!!

It funny to me that at this age some have EGO's so big or are just addicted to taking this CRAP is beyond my level of understanding!!! Guys drink your water, lift light weights, do Cardio on a regular bases and the most important thing we can do on a regular BASES is GET LAID!!!!!!

Big Mike,
I'll have to agree with you on this one, My Ambush lasted about 600 swing, took 500 to break-in once It got hot it cracked...My Black & White Cent, have well over 1200 swings lasting a little longer!!
Alan's a good guy he'll take care of you one way or the other!

Hey we all take some form of medical enhancements in order to play! I understand that! IBPROFEN, Wintercrest, braces, etc yea no issues from me......But shooting up, HGH and all the other PEDís I just canít put my finger on why guys over 50 want to do that, just to play ball!!

I was wondering how many of you guys over 50 are taking HGH or some other form of performance enhancing stuff?Ö.The reason Iím asking is because while in PHX last week I saw some very remarkable play bye some guys 60+..Donít get me wrong, I know some guys still and always have worked outÖHowever when guys 60+ still have the muscle mass & definition of a 30 year old, I have to question what their doing to maintain their body structure! I was told bye several ball players that HGH is used a lot more in Senior Ball then is known! If thatís the case, what is it supposed to do for you? Just curious! I donít expect to get confessions!

Discussion: The way softball was played back when:

Mike I agree, I do like the senior bats, however if we go back to the older bats and the Red or Blue dots Balls, I'll be cool with that.
Defense played a big part back then because the outfield could play the coed line on the little guys, knowing that they couldn't (for the most part) burn you. Now we have to play 290 on everyone!

Discussion: Mercy Rule,

Iím not trying to be a sore loserÖ.Either way, I just think there should always be an open inningÖ.Sport Plex played great, they hit the crap out the ball, not taking noting away from them!

Discussion: Mercy Rule,

Traits,
The ump had told us the mercy rule was in effect, base on us being 27 runs down & since he hadnít called open inning prior to the inning starting. We were the home team.
Tattooball,
I understand what you say about the rules, but since there is a run limit per inning, until the open, I just think, that no matter what inning or what the score a open inning should be played!

Discussion: Mercy Rule,

WE played a game in Vegas where we were down 27 runs going into the 5th inning.
I know the mercy rule is 20 after 4 and 15 after 5. Coming to bat in the bottom of 5th the most runs we could score would be 9 which would still leave us 16 runs short so it would still be a mercy.
We decided not to bat, since we couldnít catch up!
My question is shouldnít all games be played with an open inning regardless of the SCORE? If we had scored our 9 or whatever runs in the bottom Ĺ of the inning, shouldnít the flip fop rule come into play and the open inning started? Thus giving us the chance to win the game if possible instead of being mercy?

E4 you must be a sport reporterÖ.You took one word from my sentence and made YOUR OWN STATEMENTÖ..You stated you filled belittled? Where did that come from in my statement? All I stated was here you have the best 55 & 60 players playing at the worst park in Vegas and that should never happen!!!!! I think you should check your thought process? I know what I meant, and from the looks of the thread, others understand also, except you!
@ Johnny Hose great job coaching us this season!!
@Swing see you Friday for that beer & bet!
@Webbie it was my pleasure meeting you finally after all the chatter on this board & Congrats to all the Winners & Losers

E4 did you play at a crappy field/ park? If not, I suggest you keep your month closed!
I mention the 55ís & 60ís because thatís who had to play on those fields and risk injury, I didnít mention anything about the other age groups or divisions or parks! Are you trying to say that the lower divisions usually play with these type of field / Park Conditions? Did you not read the part about SSUSA should NEVER EVER use parks like theses? That includes using them for the lower divisions! Hope you feel better now!

1st, I would like to thank the Staff, Umpires & Crew of SSUSA for putting on a very Competitive, Fun & Entertaining Tournament for the 55 & 60 Major + Divisions.
Congratulations to MTC for winning the 55 Division & a special congrats to Connecticut Sportsplex for Kicking our Ass 3 timesÖ.lol
WHY SSUSA?? WOULD YOU PUT THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE 55ís & 60íS disvion on the WORST FIELDS in SSUSA WORLD Tourney history?????? Why?? This for me took a lot of the fun out of the game. The outfields were worst then the infields. Holes, dips, High infield lips, bases not staying down. Cheyenne Park was BAD 20 years ago and itís still the worst Park in Vegas!!!! I hope no one was injured from the bad VERY BAD FIELD CONITIONS & we donít want to even talk about the RESTROOMS!!!Ö.This is just not acceptable for what we do as a group for SSUSA! This Park should never ever be used again in a SSUSA Event! NEVER, unless reconstructed like Doc Romeo

Discussion: Vegas 33 Major Teams

Wow, it looks like a very good field this year in the 50 Majors in Vegas.
Wouldn't it be nice to have this many teams in 5 or 6 tourneys a year?
1 for SSUSA, 1 for ISSA, 1 for SPA, 1 NSA and then all winners and runner-ups play one big World at the end of the year? I know travel cost!!!

Stick, Itís a stationary Bike with an adjustable tension knob to simulate Hills and flat ground. Some may call it indoor cycling but most call it Spinning! Most Tour de France riders use them for training.. I play music and you pedal to the beat! Great cardio with no impact on the joints!

You should be drinking H2O at all times during the day and night, not just on the ball fields. If you know it's going to be hot on the weekend you're playing, start hydrating a few days before the tourney? That way if you forget your water & Gatorade you won't feel as hot. Maybe?
I teach a Indoor Spin class a few days a week, and it kills me to see folks young & Older not bring a towel & Water, it's indoors, no A/C & I works ur AZZZ off! 1000 calories in an hour! But they won't or don't know how to hydrate!
