Discussion: Bat weights

Follow up post. Miken replaced my under weight Miken Black BigCat with one of the proper weight. The turn-a-round time for the exchange was one week from the day I shipped the bat, which I concider incredible. A BIG At-A-Boy for Miken.

Discussion: Bat weights

Okay, I am going to jump in here with my two cents worth because I have this problem. I recently purchased the new Miken Black Big Cat in 28 oz size. The bat felt light so I had it weighted. Actual weight is 27.2 oz. Now 27.2 oz is a far cry from 28 oz. Bats are sold based on weight, I have never seen a bat advertised as swing weight. I have a friend that purchased a 28 oz Miken Black Maxload that weights 29.7 oz and swings like a log. Needless to say, both of us are disappointed with our bats. Bats should be stickered to the closest actual weight.

Discussion: Rating Question

To Staff, if I understand the ratings/index chart, if I am a 70 major player moving to the 75 division, I would carry a classification of 75 major plus. What happens if there are no 75 major plus teams or a 75 major team with an open slot available to me?
Do I just quit?

Discussion: Miken Ultra 2 Advance - Still Being Used???

Still have a couple, tournament play only. Both are very well used and are ready to go the big ballfield in the sky at anytime. Perhaps the answer is that Miken start making them again.

I see that the new GSC bat is not on the SSUSA Approved Bat List.

Discussion: GSC~~~Where Are You?

This thing has been kicked around a long time and I feel compelled to respond to Jason’s last post. Yes, Jason is right, the original GSC no longer exists. However, if history serves me right, Steve was a co-owner of that company and his buyout (probably for the design patent rights) may or may not have any ongoing legal obligations. Contract law can be tricky and it may require a court decision as to whether previous purchasers have a legal claim. I say this, because the monies we paid in the past were used toward initial development of the new bat prior to Steve taking sole ownership.
Also, Jason is right in that the new bat will be superior to the old Veterans. I for one feel that I should not expect a bat for the low promotional price that I paid for the old bat. To that end, on two occasions, once in a phone conversation with Steve and another in an email to a member of the staff, I proposed that I should pay some additional amount while receiving credit for the money previously paid. This seems to be a fair and equable solution, we would get credit for our initial payment and GSC would not be giving bats away.
As far as the current state of affairs as stated by Jason, tells me that full scale production has not stated yet, and it will be awhile before we see any bats reach the market.

Discussion: GSC Bat approved for Senior Softball

Kind of strange, in spite of all the discussion about the bat being approved, the GSC website is not providing any updates other than adding a couple of videos. Seems prudent that they should be providing some up to date info.

Until the batter drops the bat, it is part of his person. Outside the line, means completly outside the line. If the bat was inside the line, I go with jackbrun.

curty, you didn't say whether the batter/runner was inside or outside the first base line.

Thanks Glovedad, here's my contribution.

The Boys of Winter

I rise each dawn and slip away
To the field of green where the boys of winter play
We don our gear our lot is such
To play this game we love so much
What joy when throws go true
The flight of ball against the blue
By the grace of God we come another day
To the field of green where the boys of winter play

Discussion: TOC

Yeah, same thing happened to my team in the Spring Nationals last year, we lost. But I think this 75’s team earned a shot because they competed and won a number of games in a higher bracket. Just think there should be some consistency because I have seen where single entry teams in some tourneys have received an invite. One other point. It seems to me that SSUSA would try to legitimately qualify as many teams as possible for the TOC because not nearly enough teams attend to fill up the brackets.

Regarding TOC qualification, we have a situation stemming from the ISA Winter Nationals just completed in Auburndale this past weekend. In our 70’s AAA bracket we had a 75’s AAA team competing with us because there was no other 75’s team. These guys played awesome, they made it to the championship game and won four out of six games. Now these guys paid their money for a chance at qualifying for the TOC. However, as I understand it, they will not receive an automatic qualifier in their division like any number of teams have in the past. It seems to me that based on their level of play that they should not be penalized because another team in their age division dropped out. Am I wrong here?

Discussion: Veteran Core bat

Like ChiPrimeMarty I made my purchase in September 2010 under the same promotion, and like Marty, Bill has responded to my emails promptly. Having paid only $99, I am a little uncomfortable complaining about not receiving a bat that obviously going be worth considerably more. To that regard I wouldn’t mind a price adjustment with consideration given for how long I have been waiting and the fact that GSC has had use of my money for a year and a half. And like pitcher55, I would like to see a list of prepaid bats or receive a confirmation email so that I could know for sure that I have not fallen through the crack.
