Discussion: being i like the combats

I hit with a buddy of mine yesterday (Patty Mac) and he has one of the new White Centenarians. After about 25 swings the sound of the bat changed and he was hitting balls consistently in the 325'-350' range.

ebay has listing for the NEW Combat Centenarian for $175, however there are no pictures/details so you can't tell if this is the black or white model.

Lefty, I hope you're doing well and look forward to seeing you and the C-LX guys soon.

Discussion: Something I doubt you know about Congress.

Hey guys Gary19 states above:

"Despite his perceived flaws and faults, it remains clear that Obama is far and away the best candidate either party can put forward. My God, who want Gingrich? Or Romney? And they appear to be the best the Republicans can come up with"

Gary19 has spoken, why even have an election?

Gary19, time for the SSUSA to drop you from this sight. The SOB name calling should be taken very seriously. You trying to explain it away is a joke.

SSUSA Staff, come on now, please do the right thing and shut Gary19 down.

Gary19, for a guy who loves to agitate others you sure lost your cool very quickly. If you're going to talk the talk you've got to walk the walk.

Nice post and replies. The game isn't perfect, so I've heard, but what is. To be playing a game we love with friends we care about and getting to compete at a high level is great.

Much thanks to all senior softball organiations, tournament directors, team sponsors, managers, coaches fellow players and the Good Lord.

Discussion: senior bats--courtesy runners--

Gary19

If I played a game that had so many flaws, as softball does if we listen to to you, I'd find another sport more to my liking.

You must live just to irriate people. Obviously you don't play senior softball, not tournament ball anyway because of the small tourn-outs, playing the same teams over and over, hitting good bats/balls, having cuourtesy runners, lack of defense, etc. So why should anyone debate you since you don't even participate.

You have attempted to take over this board and it's sad that we have to put up with your nonsense.

BRING BACK EINSTEIN. Like his point of view or not at least he really was a softball player that wanted, in his mind, what as best for the game and didn't come on the site just to be a nuesance.

This website has gone to the dogs. Same old crap being re-cycled over and over.

Discussion: MYRTLE BEACH FIASCO!!!!!!!! SPA

GaCMan,

Joey, Myrtle Beach and Pensacola were ran by two different groups. Even though both were SPA tournaments the organizers of these two events were not the same people.

Pensacola had some definite issues with playing teams out of their age group and giving runs to teams that shouldn't have recieved them. Hopefully the Pensacola folks will correct these problems. Teams entering any Pensacola tournaments need to voice their concerns about the bracketing prior to the tournament and have the problem from last tournament addressed before the tournament starts. Mike DeSorbo, who runs Pensacola, will correct what happened in P'Cola. He had to make some decisions and they weren't appreciated by everyone. Under the circumstances Mike did what he thought was correct for everyone and it didn't work out.

Hate to hear Myrtle Beach wasn't what you expected. Our coach decided to cancel out of that tournament and sounds like that was a good decision?

Discussion: How would you feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jim

Are these two guys real friends or softball buddies? There is a big difference.

If they are real freinds you need to suck it up, respect their decision and remain freinds.

If they are softball buddies you shouldn't have expected anything more than a mass email. I'm sure you've been on both sides of the "Jam it to my softball team exercise" in the past. They may feel they did nothing wrong?

The only way to work it out is to confront them face to face. If they are indeed real freinds voice your opinion to them and get on with being freinds.

Real freinds are hard to find.

Discussion: Safety Questions

Gary19 you say above "With equal equipment guys in their 20s and 30s, on average, will hit the ball much harder than guys in their 50s and 60s. For obvious reasons.

So that does nothing to the argument at all.

Guys in their 20/30s also have quicker reflexes than guys in their 50/60s so that does support wearing the gear. Younger player with better reflexes + USSSA bats vs
older player with slower reflexes + senior bats. Danger to both is probably pretty close.

You should also address maddog as that not saddog. Are you trying to get banned from this board for using "Disparaging comments directed toward any individual?

Tater50

I like the protective equipment. I think you are going to see more and more players wearing it. A lot of the young guys are wearing the protective helments and shin guards, mostly pitchers but also some in-fielders. To me it's called progress. Many sports such as NASCAR and football continue to improve on equipemt to reduce injuries. Why not softball? Many infielders in baseball today wear a mouth piece. Do you think they did in the 50/60's. Probably not.

Some traditionalist won't like this equipment. Some will say this wouldn't be needed if we went to USSSA/ASA bats. The fact the young players use the equipment takes away from that argument. It's a personal preference. If I pitched I'd wear the gear.

Hombre, nice, facutal, to the point post.

Gary19, you are not going to change the game. How long are you going to rant and rave over things that obviously the majority want. Can't you give the SSUSA, SPA and other Senior Organizations credit for listening to the players and giving them the game they enjoy. If the majority wanted to hit non-senior bats and socks that's what we'd be hitting.

If you hate the current game so much go find another sport to play. Your one man critiques are not going to change anything.

You must love being negative and controversial. We are all your puppets, arguing with you when you don't even play tournament softball.

What a master manipulator you must be. To bad you don't put your efforts into something positive!!!!!!

Patty Mac, hopefully with the SSUSA/LVSSA merger the official ball with be the Rock. The Trump Stote is a decent ball except in high heat/humidity, which unfortuneately, is what we play in mostly here in the Southeast.

wagon487, totally agree with you about the negative comments. You would think if someone hates the game so much they would find another sport more to thier liking? Heavens forbid someone goes to the gym, takes BP regualrly, works hard at the game and enjoys hitting homeruns. Something must be horribly wrong with the game!!!!!!!!!

SSUSA, can you tell us which ball, The Rock, Stote or something else will be your official ball next season?

Discussion: Faults of SPA

While the SPA has some questionable calls in Pensacola and need to address these so it's not a recurring theme this year I'd like to say a couple good things about the SPA.

SPA seems to always play at a nice complex.

SPA always has two umpires and a scorekeeper/score board. Other associations don't provide this service, even at National Tournaments.

SPA hits the Baden Fire Ball. This ball is excellent in hot or cold weather. Other associations use balls that are horrible in hot weather.

SPA does a nice job on awards.

I think we need the Big 2 associations to compete with each other. If you think we only need one association go to the Old Scout website and see what the young guns say about the USSSA, which now dominates young guys slowpitch softball.

SPA may not be perfect but they have a place in Senior Softball, JMO.

Discussion: Faults of SPA

A lot of controversy at Pensacola. At least two of the Major teams that were moved to a lower age group and played against all AAA teams won their tournements. Both Major teams were given 5 runs which proved to be a BAD BAD decision. The SPA needs to clarify the rules. Every team wants to play and if there are no teams with the same age/rating something needs to be done to allow them to play.

As for as every team starting out AAA, that wasn't an issue in Pensacola. The 65 Major team (The Hitmen) and 60 Major Team (Crystal Pharmacy) are both clearly Major teams and not NEW teams. Crystal has a new name but are bascially the Wild Bunch with a few new Major/Major + players.

SPA rep in Pensacola made some judgement calls, maybe with Ridge's input or maybe w/o his input, but the 5 run gift to Major teams playing in a younger age group was definitely a disaster.

Congrat's to DT Express.

Scotty, Dollar Bill, Chip and the rest of you guys have played great all season and winning the SPA has to be sweet.

The 50 Major division in our area should be very powerful with DT, Randy Smith and a new team comprised of players from Kittrells & Southern Elite getting together.

SPA Winter Nationals in Pensacola should be very interesting.

This year I'm with the Columbus Ga 55's.
I'll be moving to 60's next season.

Mad dog, my wife and I don't always see eye to eye either but I have to admit sometimes she's right. We've probably played against each other since I played with the Ga/Al Masters 55's in 2007 and 2008.

Discussion: WELL THEN, WHAT ABOUT 60'S AAA; WHO's THE BEST?

Ga/Ala Masters play a lot of teams from all over the country since they travel so much. This should be an advantage for them at the SPA.

South Florida Heat will be tough if they're at the SPA. Always a good team.

I hear mad dogs team from Texas is pretty salty.

Next year there should be two new 60AAA teams for the South, Columbus LX (majority of this years Columbus Ga. 55 team) and a team based out of Memphis.

Good luck to all the teams in Dalton.
