Discussion: Who is the best 50 AAA right now in SSUSA?

In our area of the country, the Florida Panhandle, Alabama and Georgia DT Express has to be the top dog. This is a Major caliber team with power, base hitting, defense and a Major + shortstop. Dollar Bill, Scotty, Chip and a few others can bomb.

Swarm, JR and Doc's can all get it done, at times.

Unfortuneately these teams don't get to see any West Coast, South Florida and Yankees until Dalton. Let's see if they can hold their own against the 50AAA teams from these areas.

Would love to see one of these teams get hot an win the SPA National Tournament.

Pricer & mad dog,

You guys talk about me stirring the pot and staying out of the beef between GaryC and einstein.

Read the threads titled "Please please pretty please" dtd 8/27, "we're simply amazed it's come to this" dtd 8/27 and "Poll on discussion & posters" dtd 24 Aug.

Where were you two advising folks to stay out of the argument and accusing people of stirring the pot on those threads.

I don't know or care if GaryC or einstein are banned. However, when they post on this site it's everyone's business. They make it so by going public.

Obviously you two and I have a different point of view. No problem, I'm not going to change your opinion nor you mine.

mad dog, I read the thread.

Pricer, GaryC can vent on me whenever he likes. I love the liberal attitude you guys have. Just another example of what's wrong with the world. Don't hold anyone accountable for their actions.

It's great how you say I'm stirring the pot and throwing fuel on the fire with my one statement when GaryC has been stirring the pot for weeks and maybe months, but I guess that's ok with you!!!!!!!!

Get real.

On Aug 28 you post" agree with the staff I was a bad boy."

On Aug 29 you post "How's this guys. I love my bat. I can hit the ball farther than you. Want to see a picture of my grand kids. Just found a great hemorrhoid cream. Can't wait to go to the next tournament so I can get away from my wife.
Who's the best pitcher in softball?
I don't know but that Arrogant Andy can really lob that ball. Now can I play with you super posters who know everything?"

You are a class act!!!!

Come on SSUSA, what are you waiting for?

SSUSA, thanks for the intervention. I for one enjoy the various views posted however it has gotten totally out of hand lately. I've often backed einstein in his support of the good bat/ball combo and will continue to do so. Unfortuneately einstein and Gary C have taken their debates way to far and it's began to have a real negative effect on this board. These aren't the only two that have pushed the envelope, but I guess they are the primary culprits. This site provides the Senior Softball community a great forum to express and discuss the game we love. Abusers of your "posted standards" should be dealt with accordingly.

You guys crack me up. You want einstein removed from the board for calling someone a clown when he's been call whinestienn, Pizza Joe, and many other names. This guy is basically taking on 4/5 of you at all times. This post gets started talking about a video game and Gary C comes on and says "Lively/bats and balls are a must for are video games rolling your controller I do not consider against the rules." Omar states "they are using the 52 ball because it is safer."

These are direct attacks on einstein for no reason other than to start some BS.

I don't know einstein, I don't always agree with him either, but if 4/5 of you started ganging up on me I'd probably get as defensive as einstein is.

Just sayin

What would you prefer, the Wild Bunch not playing in the tournament? They couldn't help it that no other 60 Major teams showed up. They could have put them in the 55 AAA bracket, which might have been the best solution, but to not let them play would have been wrong.

The tournament was well ran, nice parks, hot, but beautiful weather, nice awards and decent, but not great softballs.

I believe Randy Smith beat Kittrell's to win the very tough 50 Major title (I could be wrong, but they finished 1/2.

DT Express won the 9 team 50 AAA title beating JR Trucking in the finals.

Columbus 55 AAA beat Sidelines Grille in a dog fight, 25-24 in the finals.

Big John, some teams are very good at never moving up. Travel Lodge won many National's in the 50 Major Division and for some reason never moved up. We played them numerous times throughout the years and they always had 8/9 of the same guys, won consistently and stayed Major.

One of our buddies, Bill Gore, has also managed to stay Major even though his teams have won numerous Nationals.

Some teams can really play the system or the system doesn't really work the same for everybody.

Not bashing TL or Bill, just two examples of really good teams that somehow avoided being moved up.

It's always interesting when these guys go at it. Difference of opinions can get very volatile on this board.

I wish someday we could all meet face to face and see who we're sharing our thoughts with.

It's a shame Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Roger Clemens and others, who really are some of the greatest players ever, probably will never get into Baseballs Hall of Fame because of steroids. These guys made millions, were idols to us and our kids and now they are precieved as cheaters. What do their actions tell the children that watch them? We have rules for a reason and those who think they are above the rules ruin things for everybody.

One guy hits a shaved bat and his performance improves. His buddies find the secret and they follow the leader. Other's find out about shaving bats and pretty soon we have an epidemic!!!!

Since everybody's doing it suddenly it's not cheating.

mad dog, I have to admit you're right about Palmer, Nicklaus and Petty. Bad examples by me. I'll try to do better next time.

I'm still am a fan of technology as well as a good bat/ball combo.

You did say above "I have never indicated a preference in a ball. What ball is being used doesn't matter to me." But you have implied we need to dumb (for a better word)the game down. It seems there are three primary ways to accomplish this (1) change the ball (2) change the bat or (3) change both the bat and ball.

What do you propose?

mad dog, I know you, #19, Pricer, Gary19 and others like the 52 ball. Great, we all have different opinions on what will make the game better.

Here's what's confusing:

Jack Nickalaus, Arnold Palmer or Gary Player, arguably the best golfers ever, may have never hit a drive 300 yards when they played. Give them a knew driver and Pro V-1 and they may hit some 300 yd drives.

Richard Petty never drove a car 200 mph in his hey-day. If he crawls into a NASCAR vehicle today he'll hit 200 mph no problem.

In the US we live to be an average of 78 years old. Twenty years ago the average was 72.

My question is why do you want to compare 20 years ago to today? What's the problem with people hitting HRs? People like to hit them and people like to watch them being hit. Put a limit on HRs and play ball.

Doker, just my 2 cents. Don't think every Major + player is better than every AAA player in regards to knowing how to hit or being better HR hitters. I play AAA this year and we have an OF that is a true 5-tool athlete. There's no Major + team for him to play with in our area but I believe he could play with any 55 M+ team in the country. The guys just that good. Another of guys played for Faith Electric, one of the best M+ teams ever, and he's playing AAA this year. He's one of the best hitters, team leaders and winners around. There are only so many M + teams and none within probably 500 miles from where we live. JMO

Two totally different perspectives on the 52 core ball.

My opinion, hit a good bat/ball combo. I work out and take to much BP to want to hit a sock. Not passing judgement on the 52 ball because I've never hit one, but if it's a sock I'm definitely against it.

Paco

My point is simple.

Your either rated Major +, Major, AAA or AA. Playing AAA one weekend and AA the next clouds the whole rating system. If we can play where we want to then do away with the rating system all together.

I didn't mean to imply you were "degrading the AA teams." I was saying you should be either AAA or AA and not have a choice where you play.

I don't know all the particulars but from what was posted sounds like "Blackie" has pulled some strings. The fact that you didn't want your name or team name posted also implies something shady.

WWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW

You play with a good AAA team that gets to play AA in Manasas!!!!!!!

Your coach put you in as AA ?????

And you get on this board and admit it !!!!

The legit 50 AA teams in Manasa should be honored to play such a fine group of fellow senior softball players.

leftyfalcon glad to hear you're feeling better. I've heard some talk about the new 60 Major group from our area. You guys should be scary good.

Combat sent Patty Mac three Centenarian prototypes when they were developing the bats and two after they went on the market. We hit these bats a bunch and they are really good bats with pop and decent durability. We don't see many of these in Florida, Alabama, Georgia area and I think it's because the Reebok has taken off around here and giving the Ultra II a run for the money.

As you know, what feels good in your hands and what you believe gives you the best pop/distance is what you're going to swing. I see the Reebok and Ultra being neck and neck with the Centenarian being a step behind. JMO

Keep swinging

Discussion: On My Honor 2

Bat rolling is a very interesting topic. Is it illegal or not? I/ve seen guys hit bats with rubber mallets or against light poles to help break them in. Is that illegal? Often during games you'll see guys in the on deck circle hitting two bats together. Is that illegal? Without actually reading what defines an altered bat by the rule books I'm guessing rolling a bat is illegal per the various organization.

If hitting a rolled bat is illegal I can't take the pledge since I have swung a rolled bat. With that said, I've never swung one in a Senior Tournament and never will.

Also, and this is just my opinion, anybody that shaves a senior bat is crazy on many levels. First off these things are hot as fire when broken in so why shave them. Secondly, it seems very cost prohibitive to shave a bat that's going to break in 200-500 swings. Finally shaving a ball is absolutely cheating.

Many may come on here and say everybody that's swung a rolled bat is a cheater. Like einstein, I don't think rolling a bat really improves bat performance. That being said, if the rules say rolling a bat is illegal then rolling a bat is illegal.
