| April 1, 2018 southpaw | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Shorty, Where Are You? 48 years ago, at 12:01 in the morning, Shorty was in the Shower located in the Northwestern corner of Firebase Trooper. Trooper was home to Charlie Troop, 2/1 Cavalry, 100 miles South of Cam Ranh Bay. An enemy artillery attack started and the first round hit a tree which stood a few feet from the shower. As flares filled the night sky, I ran to the door of the supply room located in the Northeastern corner of the base. I was almost 100 yards from the shower. As the supply room door flung open, the first sight I saw was Shorty, buck naked, in high gear, racing across Trooper!! His bare feet seemed to hardly touch the ground. Shorty made to his hooch; secured some clothing and his weapon and we made it through the night along with the rest of Trooper's headquarters platoon. Our First Sergeant called us the "Purple Gang". Just wanted to let Shorty and the Gang know I still think about them. |

Wanted to say thanks to all the teams who participated; Derby City came all the way from Louisville, Ky!! Thinking about hosting 65/70 teams on Friday next year and everyone else on Saturday. That way I can accommodate more 50/55 teams. Had to turn some down; hurt my little heart!! Let me know what you think. |
