Topic: Rules of the game
Discussion: Runner Interference and Dead Bal

We had a similar issue in a game we played in Phoenix, however the umpire failed to make the correct call initially and would not consider changing the call he made. The runner came into second base, bent over and ran into the shortstop who was replaying the throw to first base. The runner was actually out at first base, but the umpire ruled he beat the throw. The SS then questioned the umpire about getting ran into by the runner and asked if the runner at first should have been called out on runner interference. The umpire's response was that, in his opinion the runner did not interfere with the throw, to which the SS expressed the reality that whether or not in an umpire's opinion, the runner interfered with the throw or not doesn't matter when the runner actually ran into the SS, clearly failing to avoid contact or get out of the SS's way. Ultimately, nothing changed, but I do not think the umpire's take on the play and subsequent call are correct. Can anyone else offer an opinion?

IMO, rather you are for or against it, this particular rule change has absolutely nothing to do with Timberworks directly, however, when a team plays down division AND an age group, the rules should be applied just as everyone else does . . . For instance, regarding the "situation" with Timberworks playing in Phoenix . . . They are a 70 Major+ team who chose to play in the 65 Major division. If I understand things, the general rule is when two teams from different levels, the game is played according to the lower team's rules. So, when a Major+ team, such as Timberworks, chooses to play in a Major bracket, they should play by ALL of the Major rules in effect . . . Again, IMO opinion, Timberworks should have played by the 65 Major rules, which should have taken away their 11th defensive player.

Discussion: Big Daddy's Donuts 60+ AAA team, based out of the KC area, may be looking for some players for 2020.

We are hoping to identify our exact needs in the next week or two, but we could be adding a couple of outfielders, as well as an infielder or two for 2020. No matter what, our goal is to have our rosters set by 12/31/2019. We usually play a couple of leagues in the Greater KC area, as well as most local tournaments AND we travel to play in multiple out-of-town tournaments throughout the year. If you are interested in discussing the various possibilities for you to join our team, please text me your name and phone number and I will get back to you ASAP. Thanks - Gary (816)682-9963

We are looking for some quality local players to join us in Phoenix November 17-19, 2017, with the potential for joining us in 2018. In particular, we need outfielders at this moment, but if you're a quality player, we'll find a spot for you! If this interests you, respond to this posting and we'll go from there.

Discussion: 55 AAA Team out of KC needing to pick up some players

We have had several injuries and a few personal issues come up recently, and as a result, are short of players for Vegas. We have a good core group of guys who have played together for a few years. At this moment, and per the SSUSA rules, we would like to add one more 55AAA player (2 if our 11th falls through) and 1 or 2 60AAA players. While we have a pretty decent team, our focus at this point is going to Vegas and having a good time. We're really hoping the right player or two can make us a force. The tournament fee is covered and I can help "a little financially" if you want to join us. Call me, Gary, at 816-682-9963 if interested.

Hey Randy ... It;s been nearly 2 weeks since your last post here, but I figure anything is worth taking a shot at this point! Anyway, my name is Gary and I am 53, turning 54 in December. Don't know if you are needing a "50s" player, (Although eligible for 55s in November!) but I am looking for a team to play with in Phoenix, as my team has recently backed out. I play in the KC area and can also give references if you have an interest. Let me know at gdpump@yahoo.com!

Discussion: Looking to play in Phoenix

My team (KC Renegades) was supposed to play in Phoenix next month, but we have had a lot of guys back out for various reasons in the past few weeks. I still want to go and already have my plane tickets, so I am looking for a team that might need an infielder! I usually play shortstop or third base, but can play anywhere on the infield, including pitcher! I consider myself an above average player, both offensively and defensively. I am not sure what the rules are regarding joining another team for this tourney, due to regional restrictions and such, but I do know my manager will grant me a release. I also know picking up an unknown player can be a crapshoot, but if this sounds like something you would like to discuss, please contact me here or at gdpump@yahoo.com

Thanks!
