| May 4, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: WHAT IS IT? Been to several pro events...Most are called ballgames..."Take me out to the ballsport"....Just doesn't have the same ring to it..:-o) |
| May 3, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: The Rock balls Webbie...I played in Vegas with both the 60's and 65's...Played LF and LCF...Most of the guys had the same issues...Ball never seemed to fly straight..We had more dropped balls than normal...Made every fly ball an adventure...More so than normal....Loved hitting the ball...not so much catching it...Seams were an issue as well...Thought it was just us...Maybe not.. |
| April 30, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Congratulations to Git R Done 65's Joe...Speaking for myself..We enjoyed our 2 games with GRD...I was glad to see Ray...Hadn't seen him in quite a while...Congrats again to you and your guys.. Tom Townsen Prescott Yavapai 65's.. |
| April 30, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Congratulations to Git R Done 65's DuWayne...Same to you guys...Scrap Iron and Git R Done were both class acts and play the game the way you are supposed to play it... Tom Townsen Yavapai 65's.. |
| April 17, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: just heard from your sponsor....not good news....thanks George SSUSA Big Mike...Not defending SSUSA but the 60's team I play for went through the same scenerio..We started the season AAA for the same exact reasons as your team..We played 2 tourney's....got our asses handed to us....didn't win a game and were run ruled most of the time...Our manager went through the appeal process and George immediately move us back to AA...Only becuase there is no single A...:-o)...Hope your sponsor stays with you....Just my .02.. |
| April 16, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Southwest Tournament-Vegas DuWayne...You mean you can't play 2 games at once ? :-o)...See you in Vegas..Have a safe trip.. |
| April 16, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Combat Twilight bat users taits: I know at least 4 guys that have them....They like them but have since bought other bats...1 is a singles hitter..3 are power guys...Hope this helps a little..I have used one...for me..I didn't like it...didn't feel that solid...I am also a singles hitter witl WTP...Just my .02 |
| March 8, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Bats Discussion: Talk regarding illegal bats cal...Not trying to stir the pot..But the 2 cases I mentioned were both Seniors....60's.... |
| March 8, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Bats Discussion: Talk regarding illegal bats I have played against 1 team in particular that we all know uses a few shaved bats...How do I know?? First couple of days..guys are hitting with very little pop...Come big games...Guys that don't normally hit them out are all of a sudden clearing the fences....This is in Cali and Az...I also had a guy in our league come right out and proclaim..." Just got my bat back for getting rolled "...We thought he was joking....truth is..he was not..A couple of us got together and told him...First of all it's BS that he wold do something like that and second..if we saw him using it..we would call him on it...He is probably one of the best players around this area and already crushes the ball...Makes no sense to me...As far as the team...If it's that important for them to win...I feel sorry for them...One quick note...In a game against another team..this team would use the bats and immediately take them behind the dugout..We already knew why..and one Ump took notice and went to the director..Don't know what happened after that... |
| Feb. 28, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: WHAT IS A MAJOR PLUS PLAYER? Met Joe in Vegas last year...Just a great guy but I watched him just frickin rake the ball...Seemed like every time I watched, he hit one out..Never played against him due to the fact I don't play at that level, but the thing that impressed me the most was he was just a good guy with a lot of skill.....I'm sure there are more guys like that, I have just never seen a guy his age with that much skill... |
| Feb. 25, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: WHAT IS A MAJOR PLUS PLAYER? Webbie..Speaking for my self...Never been asked..I have the speed and glove but don't hit for much power...I'm also not a big guy..I play 65's and play league with few Major+ guys and hold my own..I also play 60's..In the 60's I have an average arm from the OF...my arm is better than average in the 65's from the OF..I can play anywhere needed but most of the guys I know that are Major+..have a I am better than you attitude...Some are, some aren't..That's just a small samplingi of what I hear from other guys. |
| Feb. 20, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Bullhead City Tourney I got Harrah's for about the same price.. DuWayne, Are you and the classics playing ? Look forward to finally meeting you after our conversations last year... Tom |
| Feb. 15, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Website comments Discussion: Tournament Results Allan55: Check the web site of the director...They should have the results posted... |
| Feb. 12, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: WORST OUTFIELDER-In Your Opinion Co-ed team had Willy Makeit in Lf flanked by Betty Wont...always a comunication issue... |
| Feb. 10, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Who is the team to beat this year? FV Outlaws are a great bunch of guys...Have played them a few times...But they also have the best cheering section I have seen.. |
| Feb. 9, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Sponsors Question (Poll) JDub...I agree with what you said...Loyalty is way underrated...My mantra " I'm not good but I'm loyal, will be there on time and will play my arse off "..I also live in Az and have also had other offers but prefer to play with my buddies.. |
| Feb. 9, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Sponsors Question (Poll) 17...Can't speak for all but I play for 2 Sponsored teams...They pay tourney fees and supply us with 3 jerseys (each team) and hats..Seems to me that is enough...I know a few guys that also play for different team and the same applies for them. We play 8-10 tourneys a year (both teams)...I have heard of teams that are "free ride" teams...But I have also heard that some of them are cut throat...Doesn't sound like much fun to me..Most of the guys I know are satisfied with uni's and fees paid...Just my .02 |
| Feb. 6, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: So-so player looking for a team to play on bob..The Basehawgs out of Simi Valley may be looking they are 60AA...I played for them last season but ,moved to Prescott...E-mail me tomtownsen@gmail.com and I'll get you some contact info.. I think I still have it.. |
| Feb. 5, 2013 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 1-1 count no extra foul tourney southerson...Don't shoot all the dogs because some have fleas..I'm 64. Yesterday we played with 3 teams...rotating each inning...Played 8 innings in 2 hours..I was up 7 times and had a total of 10 pitches...Note that this is a Senior League in Prescott, AZ...Just sayin..I go up to hit as do most of my buddies.. |
