| Oct. 10, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 2012 vegas worlds ballplayer3..Not saying things were perfect..Just stating the facts as I saw them where I played...Didn't see but 1 Umpire that filled the descriptions given...Don't know where you played..But it wasn't that bad where I was...My point was...I play because I can and want too,,My wiffle ball comment was just to point that out. Next time I'll type slower and use smaller words so as not to cause you any confusion... |
| Oct. 10, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 2012 vegas worlds I was also in Vegas...We had some good umps and a few not so good...But bottom line is..Umps don't win or lose a game..The team does..Each team gets it's own share of good calls and bad calls..Just play and stop whining..As far as the old rules..I'd play with a whiffle ball and rolled up newspaper if that's what was required...I use the latest bat but wouldn't care if we went back to wood bats..I just show up / play and run for myself...Just my .02 |
| Oct. 7, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SSUSA Renewal SSUSA..How do I go about geting my renewal ? Do I just download the 2012 form and change the date ?...I am moving to AZ and just want to make sure.. Thanks |
| Oct. 2, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Bases @ 70' I agree. 70' bases made all the games I played much more interesting.. I still run well and although I did get thrown out on a play that I would have been safe at 65'. I still had my share of extra base hits..Just my .02 |
| Sept. 27, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Need three players for team d45..What age ? I am assuming 65-69 AA..I play for a 60AA team as of now but just turned 64, which means I can play 65 next season..Currently living in Cali but will be living in Prescott Az full time as of 11/1/12..May be playing for a Prescott team but nothing has been confirmed...Let me know.. BTW: I play almost anywhere but prefer LF / LC / RC..But can play anywhere in the Inf as well.. e-mail tomtownsen@gmail.com |
| Sept. 16, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SO WHAT DO WE GET OTHER THEN PLAYING FOR $675.00 PER TEAM IN VEGAS Shane gets it..I play...well, because I still can... |
| Sept. 16, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Bases @ 70' I played in Vegas early this year...Yes, there is a little difference...But come on..quit whining about it..It's not going to change and it's the same for everybody...Just show up and play.. |
| Aug. 9, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Open or Closed stance.. Guys..Thanks for all the constructive points. some interesting things to ponder...For the other morons....It must be sad to have to be the way you are...Being an old guy, I tend to look at things on a more positive note. That being said, if you are going to post assinine comments, you're only wasting your time because no one really cares what you think except mommy and daddy.. |
| Aug. 9, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Open or Closed stance.. Monty...Just looking for opinions..My hitting is fine but not great...But I figure until I bat 1.000...It can improve... |
| Aug. 9, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Open or Closed stance.. Guys..Thanks for the input..Bubble Gum, my hitting is fine but I figure a person can always improve by listening...Except apparently for you. I guess you have it figured out. |
| Aug. 8, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Open or Closed stance.. Lighten up guys...0 ?..I'm not looking for an answer...Just curious..And no, all the guys on my teams don't use the same stance...Know the names..Helmer,Crine and Machenko but as most of us..We're not in the same category as they are. I'm sure as heck not.. |

| Aug. 8, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Open or Closed stance.. Tim...Senior softball is fairly new to me..What do you mean "launch position"..I am familiar with "launch angle" in golf...I am basically a line drive hitter with occasional pop and I find this subject interesting... ?: Rose.Ruth etc are trying to hit a 90 mph fastball...Slowpitch is a little different, but I understand your point.. |
| Aug. 8, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Open or Closed stance.. G19..Which one ? Take 6 months off and then quit or neutral stance ? :-o) |
| Aug. 7, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Open or Closed stance.. This may have been discussed before but I am curious..Reasons for open or closed batting stance. I see both and personally I am a closed stance hitter..Any comments.. Thanks |
| Aug. 7, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Hamstring Pull surf..Having been a runner mosat of my life.(19 Marathons, 4 Ironmans and many many other races)..I'm glad you are better. have always and will always warm up for at least 20-30 minutes prior to game. I was a sprinter in HS and had a great coach that always pushed us to warm up properly...I realized that I had abnormally large hammys (skinny upper body...big legs )..I stretch 2 times a day and have for almost 50 years and knck on wood have had minimal muscle issues..Find what works for you and STICK WITH IT...I am now 64 and ALWAYS RUN FOR MYSELF ( and others also :-o) |
| July 31, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 5 run spot that allows 6 runs per inning to lower rated teams G19..Basic question..basic answer..If we are spotted 5 and win by 2...Nope..We lost..The only thing we won was on paper..Just my .02.. |
| July 30, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Prescott Results Please snk..Go to the Prescott Senior softball site..They will post all resulst when they are available..Normally pretty quick in posting..Tom |
| July 29, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: THE NEED FOR SEVEN INNINGS Had a simlar situation on a Thursday night league game..Opposing team down 6..Bottom of 6...They score 6 for the tie..Since it was the last game, the Ump asks if we would like to keep playing..We agree and score 6 more..Bottom half..they score 6 again...Ump asks again same question..We keep playing and we score 3..They come up and score 4 to win the game..Neither team wanted to quit is the moral of the story...We would have played as long as we could so 7 innings is not a stretch..Would have been a better story if we would have won.. |
| July 26, 2012 Olden Slow | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Round robin seeding Gary..My biggest cost is in Shoes..I wear mine out because I always run for myself :-o)..I'm not disputing anyones point..Just giving my own.. |
