I disagree SS11

Every year Major teams that get bumped up find a way to go back down to Major anyway. If they are forced, they adjust their roster so that they are major again. Very few teams get bumped to Major Plus and stay Major Plus because they find a ton of excuses.

I believe this will help those bubble Major/Major Plus teams stay in major plus because now they can add two players on the opposite side of the river. For some reason it's not about competing anymore it's just if my team can't win a major plus tournament then we fight to remain major.

Sponsors are at every level of softball not just Major Plus. Many players at all levels enjoy sponsorship $$ or merchandise.

The Major Plus division has always been considered a different animal and many choose not to play in that division. Why does it matter now if the new rule only affects Major Plus?

I commend SSUSA for looking at other organizations and trying to keep the Major Plus division consistent. I hardly think any Major Plus teams will complain about the new rule and if they do their team will find a way to drop to major I'm sure.

I Never bashed any store bought gloves. Just stated that our gloves are same or better quality as the big name brands and custom made which includes the web type, color of the glove, lacing and custom embroidery. Our Japanese Kip leather is the most durable and long lasting. Most custom made gloves of any type of brand are more expensive. Nothing wrong with any store bought glove, but I think if you try a Llerandi glove you will see how much better the quality is.

Email me keithb289@msn.com if you have any other questions.

Technology has improved my brother. Trust me when I say if you let loose of that 30 year old piece of worn out leather you will be amazed at Llerandi gloves. Rawlings is a great product. When you are ready to upgrade your glove and get rid of your pager I can help with both. Haha

Happy New year

I love my Llerandi glove so much that I am now working as a sales rep for Llerandi gloves. If you or anyone needs a custom glove for a great price please reach out to me keithb289@msn.com or Lou Llerandi @ 404 401-2794. You can go to our website Llerandigloves.com and see our models and colors. I have been involved with senior softball for 13 years playing at the Major Plus level and the Llerandi product is as good or better than the big name brands for a lot cheaper. We also carry baseball size gloves for your grandchildren. Please take a look at the website and custom design your glove that if ordered now will be season ready by the time you take the field.

Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.

How are you going to get senior softball players to pay a monthly subscription fee when they complain about gate costs at BLD and no free water in the dugouts?

I did some research for you. There are 197 7-11 stores in the Vegas metropolitan area. All sell water, Gatorade, Energy drinks and any other type of hydration beverages. There are also 93 gas stations that have a store attached to them that sells the same drinks.

And you are complaining SSUSA didn't provide you with water?

Discussion: Hows the new ball performing at worlds Dave?

Skings24

Not sure what division you play, but I would have to disagree with you. I played 55 major plus at Sunset and Arroyo Grande parks and the ball was equivalent to the Trump Stote that SSUSA has always used. I think this Baden Fire ball held up better in the heat than the Stote does. The Baden is definitely not the ROCK ball but than again only the new Tattoo ball compares with the Rock ball in my opinion.

Teams in my division I believe did not struggle because the ball was bad. If anything there were no mis-hit HR's like in years past because of the Rock ball.

Thank you SSUSA for getting a ball that performed like it should.

If only we could go back in time when BEING COMPETITIVE was the most important thing rather than winning the
T-Shirt then Dave wouldn't have to answer the question.

Why are grown men complaining about having to play a team that is good. It's softball. Anyone can win. Try harder.

Just sayin.

Discussion: Am i wrong to think this way

Stick8

I have umpired and played USSSA and I agree testing the bat and putting it in a bucket works, but it takes more personnel and SSUSA would have to keep track of everyone's bats. I could see a bat getting lost and holy hell breaking loose. Then a compression number would also need to be established.

ASA a few weeks ago tested and put a sticker on the handle of the bat and gave it back to the player. I heard teams just removed the sticker and placed it on their shaved bat. That type of testing was worthless.

Testing may work but like I said SSUSA will have to establish a compression number. And right now most seniors don't want a compression number for their bat. And yes if you have been playing long enough you can hear that some bats sound different. But a legal bat ready to crack also makes a different distinct sound.

Tim

Associations could establish rules for taking bats so it's not on the players. I just think taking and cutting open bats every time someone gets hit or someone complains will lead to other issues. But it would only take one person receiving a long suspension to possibly deter cheating. We could talk character until you are blue in the face and some people are still going to cheat regardless.

Bat companies won't make a bat with a different type of cap because if you shave your bat it probably breaks sooner and then you have to buy another one. It's all about $$$$$$$.

Stick and lb16

You propose a strong penalty but here are a few things you fail to realize.

SSUSA has a zero chance of determining if a bat is shaved or altered unless they confiscate it and cut it open. Do you believe they want to do that every time someone complains? Who will pay to replace the bat if it's not altered? Do you know how many times teams complain about other player's bats being illegal? A shitload.

There is no compression rating for senior bats. If there was, many senior players would complain the bats aren't good and bat companies would not make money. Trust me when I say not all bats are made equally. It's like buying a car some are just simply made better than others.

Bat testing will not solve the problem. Like I said there is no compression number for a senior bat. Besides I have seen bats that fail and the person testing just turns the bat to the other side and it passes. Most people testing don't know how to test or simply don't care. What compression number do you want to see 240 like the youngsters? I'm guessing most senior bats test well below that number. You can shave a bat and not use it and it will still pass compression. It will get hotter as the tournament goes.

The only proposed problem solver would be to confiscate the bat if a player hits the pitcher. If the pitcher's team believes it is shaved then they pay for the cost of cutting it open and replacing it if it is not altered. Most softball players are cheap so therefore that probably won't work either.

People have been cheating in sports for a 100 years and it is not going to change. SSUSA like any other organization has it's hands tied when enforcing any type of altered bat rule other than something that is obvious.

Dave

Did any of these guys questioning your tournament design stop to think that it's a holiday weekend yet you posted the schedules for Salem, and responded to a message board where most do not share their names? Other associations are slow to respond to emails and I don't believe they have message boards where questions are usually answered by you or another staff member in a timely manner.

Thanks for what you do and the timeliness of doing it when you should have probably been sitting on your porch admiring your American flag drinking Coors beer this entire weekend. Unfortunately no matter what some people will never be happy.

Be safe.

Just ordered my Llerandi custom glove. Not often do you speak directly to the owner of a company and have all your questions answered. Lou walked me through the process and together we developed a custom glove as good or better than the big company names for way less of a price.

As I have stated before, call Lou and you will not be disappointed in purchasing a custom glove.

Thanks again Lou,

It's softball. There are no errors. Only hits and outs. On base percentage is what is calculated. Walks should count as a hit and sacrifice flys are outs. Keep it simple.
