Discussion: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RULING • WMC 50-Major Matter

LeeLee. I heard that explanation from both you and Mango. i'm not buying it. If Tim just really wanted to play some more softball why didn’t he take his team stacked with 50 major plus players and enter the 50 major plus tournament that weekend? It was going on that weekend as well.

I heard he cut 3 of his friends at the beginning of the season to get out of the 50 major plus division he was rated in and play 55 for a few months so he could sneak back in the 50 major. In other words he cut his friends and added others to try and win the ring he claims he doesn’t care about. He took a team loaded with 50 major plus players into the major division world series. And then came on here and bragged about what a great thing it was he did. And then whined incessantly and incorrectly about another team adding one player. Again if he just “wanted to play more softball” he could have done that in the 50 major plus division. Heck he could have even added back the friends that he cut in his attempt to win a ring.

He needs to man up,quit his crying, and play in the division he belongs in. And he needs to stop pretending that he has softball's best interest at heart with that type of shameful behavior. He has Tim's best interest at heart!

I agree with you. Having 9 50 major plus players, or even 12 -15 like Tim did doesnt seem fair to the major division. You might want to ask Tim why he just did that.

Discussion: Tim's Appeal Denied

Mulewhipper,
You are correct. MTC was a 50 major plus team. That’s what is so galling about this whole protest thing. He has a 50 major plus team in a 50 major tournament and comes online and starts bragging about how “awesome” it is that they did so well. Well yeah, you shouldn’t have been allowed in the tournament. Its called sandbagging. Tim comes in with 10 major plus rated players and has the nerve to complain about another team having 1?!?

Discussion: 50 Major Plus Top 3

SO congratulations to Sommerville Softball for winning the 50 major plus world championship. And congratulations to MTC for playing in and finishing second in a division they have recently been bumped up from. However to suggest for Sommerville to play in the 40 major plus would be equal to MTC playing down only one age group while dropping down another level as well is the same thing is not even close to equal . Going from 50 to 40 is TWO age groups down. On top of that they would be staying at the Plus level not dropping down a level like MTC did as well.

For Sommerville to go play in the 40 PLUS would be equal to say the 60 champions Old Dawgs dropping to 50’s-not major, but major plus! If Sommerville were to go to the 40 MAJORS they would be DOUBLING what MTC did. And if they went to the 40 plus they would be TRIPLING what MTC did. And let me tell you-I’ve heard many say they believe that Sommerville could compete very well at the 40 major division if not win it. In fact I think they’ve won every game they played against 40 teams the past few years.

So congratulations to MTC for playing in a division they have already been booted out of. You must be proud to sneak back in. And if you really want to impress drop one level-not 3 like you suggest to Sommerville. Oh, but then you would be in the 50 major plus again and we know you don’t want that.Because you would have to play Sommerville.

Discussion: Major plus problem

If this were a heavy weight fight I could hear Howard Cosell “down goes Millette, down goes Millette, down goes Millette…..

If it were a softball game it would be called on the mercy rule. Mango, no need to respond- you’ve won by mercy rule!

And as for Tim’s gobbledygook double speak about “father time”- don’t “dynasty teams” get older too? Are you suggesting then they should be able to stay in the same division with your “lateral bump” scenario because they got older? Here's an idea-why not just stay in their own division?

Game called-Run Rule!

Leave it to Tim to come to the aid of sandbaggers. You are the king of sandbaggers, crying for years about "it's not fair, they're too good, we need runs". Wah, wah, wah,. You left coast liberals always looking for handouts. For someone who keeps saying it doesn't matter if you win you spend a lot of energy trying to legislate wins.

Discussion: Team move-ups

Paul
My point was how you score your runs is irrelevant to the conversation. When you move from AAA to major you can still only score 5 runs an inning- no matter how you score them. If you hit 5 solos in an inning or 8 singles to score 5 runs it's still 5 runs.. The more homers allowed in major just gives you more ways to score runs.
You could have a AAA team hit their maximum homers every game and not win a single game and I doubt they would be moved up.

It appears move up is based on run production and wins. Again how you produce those runs and wins is irrelevant.

Just curious why teams always mention how they score runs (without homers) as a defense against move up?

I like the 0-0. I would rather have 4 quality at bats than 5 rushed at bats. I don't know what the big deal about 7 innings is either. Games usually last an hour and a half- thats long enough-I'm old. By the time you factor in BP two games you're playing about 4-5 hours a day or longer. hats plenty.

Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode where a guy spoke about himself in the third person- "Jimmy likes this and Jimmy does that" and it was actually Jimmy speaking. I'm pretty sure that the point of the episode was to make fun of someone who spoke of themselves in the third person. Thanks for entertaining us... Donl likes that.

James you make some excellent points that are not often discussed. Not only are you giving the lower team a perfect offensive inning without using any home runs but it is actually an EXTRA perfect offensive inning. Since the lower team can score 6 runs an inning and the upper team only 5.

I would suggest the runs come to the lower team any time they don't score their 5, but they can only score 5 an inning. So say in the first inning the lower team only scores 1 they are immediately gifted 4 of their 5 extra runs. Then in the second if they score 3 runs they are gifted their 1 remaining extra run.

Discussion: stop all the whining

Tim,
You’re being silly again. Why would you average runs per out when the rules say you can only score 5 runs per INNING. Those are the rules. And as Jaywood points out the 5 runs an inning always keeps it close. The rules in Senior Softball are designed to keep games close, much like t-ball. For example after 4 innings of play the score is 20 to 20. One team has made 0 outs and the other team has made 8 outs. The game can’t be any closer and the outs don’t matter. Are you suggesting that if the next inning is the open inning and the team with 8 outs wins it 27-26 that they somehow loose because they made more outs? Where do you come up with this… “logic”? Just silly.

Also, can you identify for everyone the “dynasty” team that is “ruining” 50 major plus?

Tim,
I am constantly amazed by your complete lack of logic and consistency without any shame or embarrassment. Maybe you just don’t pay attention to yourself. You have two posts in this thread 1) where you say you would go to Cal Cup IF Northwest Legends were to show up 2) A second post where you suggest you cant support any tournament organization that allows defending champs to stay intact and participate (that would be…. the Northwest Legends) Do you want them to show or not? Are they keeping you from participating if they show up… or if they don’t show up!!!!
Unbelievable!!!! You are a one man Saturday Night Live skit! Thanks for the entertainment!

Discussion: Thoughts for the upcoming SSUSA Rules Committee meeting!

Tim breaks them all up so he doesn't have to play them. That's his real agenda. He's finished in the top 10% of all 50 teams this year but doesn't want to play in with the rest of the top 10% of those teams. He wants to get rid of any team he thinks is better than his.

Discussion: Which choice would Plus Champions take if Bumped like every other Division?

Tim,
There were 99 teams combined in the 50 worlds this year. There were 7 in Plus. So your finish at 3rd in the major division, would place you 10th overall among the 99 teams. Where do you think you belong? Where would you draw the line to divide the divisions? If there were 3 divisions would you take the top 30? The top 25? How would you divide them? I would like to hear how you think those 99 teams should be divided into divisions?
