Thanks Mark, sounds like I need to try one of these out. Like I need another bat. Maybe my marriage will stand one more bat in the house.

Mark, do you rate this bat better than the Combat Ambush as far as hitting(once broke end) and sweet spot? How about the Reebok Melee?

Fare enough Olie. In no way was I trying to be negative about your comments, just expressing my experience with them also. If everybody's needs where the same there wouldn't be but one bat.

This last comment about the Ambush is reinforcement that different strokes for different folks apply. Don't know way you 50's major plus guys are concerned about distance anyway, you can hit them out with any bat. As for us 65+ guys the Ambush preforms great.

Thanks Alan, good information for all levels of senior players. Sounds like the Ambush like I have is the one for me. Also sounds like you talked yourself out of a sale, at least for now anyway.

Morning Alan, do rate the Barrage better, same,or less when it comes to pop as compared to the Ambush and Melee?

Big Mike clued me in on his drill couple of years ago, which I use to this day, when I purchased some bats from him. Thought there might be other drills out there.

Discussion: new ultra 2

Hit with one at the classic spring training this past weekend. It was a demo, so I thought it would have been broke in with several people using it. To me it felt even more solid than the red one piece, no flex at all. When I felt like I hit the ball well it just didn't have the carrier of my ambush or two piece miken. Good for someone(base hitter) with more bat control than me I guess. I know everybody is deferent though.

My first Ambush(26oz.EL) had at least 230+ hits on it when a small crack developed. I could have cried, that was one hot bat. Come to think about it I did cry. Went to a 27oz. EL which seems to be the most popular here in S.C. for senior players.

In my day, I could have blocked better than Peyton's line did in the super bowl. Don't know what was the matter with the offensive line that night. Was the Seahawks that much more talented?
I know-not really a product review comment.

Boy! Looks like someone(Alan) is missing the boat here. Seems that would be a hot item first of ever year. Just read an article on Manning and how he has gotten accustomed to wearing his glove even in warm weather. Don't know if you and I could afford a pair, but they must be out there.

I'm sure the NFL guys use them for a better grip on the ball in maybe wet weather. But would a glove thin enough to have control of a softball really help as far as cold weather is concerned?

I play and use senior bats, but one of our heavy hitters uses the Psyco all the time and he is eligible to use senior bats.

Discussion: NIW Triad Blackout from Team1 Sports and Alan Tanner

Was privileged to see the Wounded Warriors team in Hendersonville, N.C. last year. Great bunch of kids. Not a pushover to beat them I might add. And now when I find myself wanting to have a pity party for myself I think of these guys who have embrace life no matter what it has dealt them and I fell ashamed that I'm not more thankful for what I have. What a great program, I'm sure it has help many of them readjust to society after their stressful experiences.

Discussion: help

I'm sure you will get a verity of opinions on here Biglee. I have been playing for some six years now and have tried several bat brands and models. If you are interested in best pop of these it would be the Ambush for me. I have a Miken 2 piece in my bag and it performs very well, just doesn't have the distance of the Ambush to me. If your looking for longevity you might look at the new traid blackout by Miken. It has gotten some good press for durability. A source of good honest info would be Alan @ Team 1 Sports. Tell him what your needs are and he can help. Also Ed (surf88) seems to have a lot of knowledge also. They both are what I would call professionals when it come to bats. Guys like me play two or three times a week, I think these two are out there everyday whacking away.

Discussion: Twilight vrs MM Blue

Have had my MM Blue(28oz.) for some two years now and it has performed well. It has good pop to it, but my Ambush(26oz. el)is superior in terms of distance. Several team mates that have the Twilight in their bag compare it as being equal to my MM Blue.

Discussion: bats and cold weather

Can't imagine any damage being done storing bats in moderately cold weather. Hope it doesn't anyway as I store mine in my garage here in upstate S.C. also. Don't know about subzero weather though. I would think the bats are just like the balls, good to go as long as you let them warm before use.

BOY!, don't think you are going to get any one to admit to that. Most guys that DO use them I would think they keep it to their self. Team Bat? Too many that know the team has one. Loose lips sink ships.
