Discussion: Twilight vrs MM Blue

Have had my MM Blue(28oz.) for some two years now and it has performed well. It has good pop to it, but my Ambush(26oz. el)is superior in terms of distance. Several team mates that have the Twilight in their bag compare it as being equal to my MM Blue.

Discussion: bats and cold weather

Can't imagine any damage being done storing bats in moderately cold weather. Hope it doesn't anyway as I store mine in my garage here in upstate S.C. also. Don't know about subzero weather though. I would think the bats are just like the balls, good to go as long as you let them warm before use.

BOY!, don't think you are going to get any one to admit to that. Most guys that DO use them I would think they keep it to their self. Team Bat? Too many that know the team has one. Loose lips sink ships.

AMEN!! Mark. I'm thankful I can still enjoy precipitating and enjoying the fellowship of my fellow players. Sometimes we take this game too seriously, especially at our age.

Comments on purposely hitting up the middle are depressing and alarming to me. Under no circumstances would I ever intently hit up the middle. I would hate to live with myself if I seriously hurt a fellow senior player by accident, must less on purpose. If other teams make a practice of this tactic their showing no regard for their fellow brothers and or sisters. I certainly would voice my concerns to them if a team practice this tactic. If they chose to continue that would be on their page, I have enough on my page to worry about.

Phantom I echo those thoughts. It does add enjoyment to the game to be able to hit with a little distance. I work twic or three times harder now to keep what strength I have as we did in our 30's and even 40's. Back then you just showed up and the ball flew. Don't think the folks selling these bats will ever let them be banned. I'm 66 so I'm right behind you.

Thanks Alan! I wish the same to you and your family. Have enjoyed doing business with you last few years. You have always been strait forward about items and not afraid to express your faith which has been a encouragement to me. See you soon I hope-Johnny

Boy this discussion about senior bats has really taken of. Haven't taken time to read all the post, but as I understand you guys are suggesting not allowing the 45 to 60 year old guys the use of senior bats. Not us 65 year old guys. Is that pretty much the suggestion here?

Already using pitching nets in Atlanta league. I think it was the county's liability concerns more than safety issues.

Not going to give you (H) about it Richard, just disagree with you a little. I am as you amazed at some of these smaller guys that have amazing pop in their bats. But that's a talent they are blessed with. As for myself I'm 6'2 and somewhere around 230 lbs. and it's all I can do to hit one 301' every now and then. BUT it give me great joy when I do as I'm sure it does everyone 65+ years old. I was thinking that you had to be 60+ to use a senior bat in tournament play anyway. So humor us old guys a little and let us feel like we're young once again.
Have no argument that $200 for a bat making any sense. Got to spend my kids inheritance on something you know.

I'm sure everybody's swing is deferent, but I'm just the opposite of big unit. I do manage to hit a home run every now an then. They are always with my Ambush. Have hit with the dirty in a couple of year ending tournaments as two of my teammates have the dirty. Good senior bat, but just didn't have the success as I do with the Ambush. Like I stated everybody's swing is deferent.

There are several good senior performance bats out there, but I promise you will love the Ambush.

Taits, will try to get that picture of decal to you. I still have the wrapper on the bat while breaking it in. Haven't unfolded it and read contents but I did see where you have to register the bat.

Speaking of next year, competition in the bat wars must be heating up. My last Combat Ambush I received had a 1 year warranty decal on the bat. Never seen a senior bat with any kind of warranty.

Think that is a sign of things to come?

Dbax, what info makes you think warmers DON"T work? I'm certainly not as they say a rocket scientist, but considering the material these bat are made from, looks like heat would make them more flexible. So I would assume that would help with the trampoline effect, course you know where assuming will get you.
Just wondering.

Biscuit, several options on bat choices. Most of us have a hard time avoiding senior equipment ads. There are several people on the board that are very knowledgeable about the different leagues and their rules. The one person that I depend on is Alan(561-718-7504) at Team1sports(tricoach18@att.net). I'm sure he could answer all your questions and has always been truthful. He can advise you for what every age group your in. Also has very competitive prices.
Good luck on your second time around.

Good to hear follow up on your bat. Kind of thought they would help you. Have received 4 or 5 of the second run Ambush bats and I noticed they have added a year warranty sticker on the bat. First senior bat I've seen with a warranty. Guess competition is forcing companies to offer some kind of help.

Great news Alan. There getting here just as softball is really heating up.
Do you think the formula for the bat will be the same as before? Hope they didn't change anything. Have seen on this board where performance changed from one batch to another on different brands.
Happy Father's Day Guys!!
