Discussion: New Hyper Z pretty impressive!

I agree with Paco's first post above....another bat that is better than the _______________ (fill in your greatest bat ever here).....we have 3 feet of snow on the ground, it is 20 below zero and softball is only a dream right now.....and NOW I hear about another greater than the greatest bat ever bat being made now......we should all be hitting over 500 feet by now....my drives in golf are up to 600 yds because I keep buying clubs that will add 40 yards to my drive....my seven iron goes 285 because I added 13 yards every time I switched to a club......so we get it, I have one question, does the original poster sell? these bats by any chance.....just wondering

Discussion: Shoulder Pain

overuse injuries are very common at our age....we think more is better and will keep us in shape BUT, the tendons and ligaments get less flexible as we age and don't bounce back like they used to do.....I did extensive research on shoulder injuries and aside from serious tears which need surgery, cutting back on over use activities or activities that aggravate the area are reduced to a minimum......I work around the area and do things that don't hurt or twinge the area.....teammate had rotator cuff surgery last year and this spring will be first test on it.....there are three tests to see what is the problem, neer test, Hawkins test and drop test....look these up on you tube and the Hawkins videos are extensive and informative......you and other will learn a ton of info

Discussion: Endload or balanced?

I have used balanced for the past 10 years...I got a jeff hall legit that had 1/2 ounce end load and also Miken DC41 that has 1 ounce end load....I found the balanced swings quicker for me thus my bat of choice, but if we are winning big or haven't had good swings with my gamer, I try something different like the endload....but generally speaking, I am balanced...I think it is 50/50 on our 50's team

Discussion: Do you use senior bats in non tournament games/leagues?

thanks for all the input guys....we will NOT be using senior bats in our league this year......probably more of a safety concern than anything...oh well, lots of gappers for inside the park HR's and lots of extra bases....outfielders, get your running shoes on and cut-off men, get ready for long relay throws......loosen up those legs and arms, because there will be lots of long runs and throws this season

so for the guys who use a screen and senior bats, what is the rule when you play...is it in play, an out, a dead ball......???....is there a homerun rule? we are moving to a different field and the fences are 15-25 feet farther than our past fields.....we used U-Trip bats and there were occasional HR's....with the fences that much farther, I doubt the HR rule will even come into play unless there is a 25 mph wind blowing out (it hardly does that).....any input will help us decide...thanks for the help

Oz

Mine took a loooong time because it was the first public batch that came out.....production was low and demand was high...i think they have more onhand now so turnaround might be quicker....mine was almost 3 months though...dudley was good with email response also

Discussion: Do you use senior bats in non tournament games/leagues?

In our senior leagues we do NOT use senior bats at all.....I was wondering how many guys out there use senior bats for their leagues and if it is a good or bad idea to use them in non-tournament situations.....obviously, there are all talent levels at local leagues and if because of this fact, safety is top priority for not using these bats......in reality, out tourney team plays 3-4 tourneys a season and occasional end of season BP and exhibitions but otherwise, we use U-trip bats or any bat of your choice not senior approved....thanks

it took some time for my replacement to come but it did come eventually....I think it was just poor mixing of the epoxy on my bat....the cap cracked in 2 and one part was still solidly stuck in the barrel, glued like it was supposed to be done.....if end caps are falling out or breaking, maybe there was a batch that had the same glue and obviously defective...performance wise, it was spectacular....for 25 swings....now it is winter and 10 degrees in the northeast

My end cap cracked and half flew out to shortstop..the other half was glued solidly still inside the barrel....it looked like the epoxy wasn't mixed fully because the broken part was still shiny and wet.....I sent the bat back and got new one.....I am sure if i had the marine epoxy and the cap wasn't broken, I could have repaired it......it was the balanced model and was hitting bombs...I hope the new one hits as well

I have used Nike 5/8 airspeed destroyers the past 3 years.....they aren't high tops and they aren't low....no Achilles pain at all...Tanels felt great on my feet but 2/3 of the season my heels really got tender...the new balance umpire shoes are really nice too but too slick for outfield wet grass.....the Nikes are discontinued but you can find them on ebay for some good prices...they come in turf soles and a little more aggressive sole for outfield....luckily I stocked up on them to last me some more seasons

Discussion: courtesy runners

i don't even consider them courtesy runners, they are more like PINCH runners.....every game I have ever seen a runner used, a faster guy was put on base for the "slower" or "injured" runner.....maybe a limit on the number of times a runner can be used should be limited...maybe only ONE runner per inning...maybe no runners after a certain inning.....obviously, the rule is abused so I don't think the speed of the game time is affected but the SPEED on the base paths definitely is affected....

Discussion: Suggestions for 2015

I like the one up rule once limit is reached.....I also like DBO's for any HR's over the limit/one up rule..... we played a major team last year (we are AAA) and we got destroyed by both hits and walks for HR's after limit was reached...at least an out would have shortened a few innings

as for 1-1 count, I have played both...I am not fan of 1-1 only because , your at bat can be decided by an umpire after one pitch...we all know there is supposed to be a height limit etc but say a pitcher throws the border line high pitch that the ump calls a strike....guess what the next pitch will be????.....now you will be forced to swing only because you have 2 on you and cannot trust the ump for the next pitch....if you go to a 1-1 count, then make 3 BALLS a walk...forget the 4 ball walk...THAT will speed up games

courtesy runners should be limited to 1 or 2 per inning....forget about speeding up the game. it speeds up the team that puts the usually faster guy on the bases.....maybe put a limit on the number of times a same runner can be used in a game

just a few thoughts on some of the bigger concerns in the game

Discussion: Are walks hits in Senior Softball?

it is more a team decision....since batting averages are sometimes competitive, the team has to decide if walks counts as 0 for 0 or 1 for 1......if you ask a pitcher, a walk is just as costly as a hit because it allows a person to be that much closer to scoring.....and in this case, batters will want errors to not go against their BA because in essence, they got on base.....team decision.....you have to decide
