| Feb. 22, 2013 bkb555 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Over 50 Softball Players Wanted darryl, I have been saying this for years about Santaro...it is prime location and has the capability to be a premier facility in the area...With Brett taking over managing, he knows what it takes to make a park upper echelon and maybe we can get some senior tournies there over the next few years......brian...bkb555 |

| Feb. 5, 2013 bkb555 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Combat Dirty i have the reebok Melee and that was hitting blasts until I used an ambush.....i never got one because I had my senior bat but it really made me wonder who makes these standards and what does it take to pass a test????...as for durability, I'll just stay with my U-trip worth 454...has super durability and pop...not quite senior bat material but enough to keep me happy for now...and legal in any non ASA league |
| Feb. 5, 2013 bkb555 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Combat Dirty ok...forget marketing for a bit.....i have hit the ambush and it was obscene.....and now they have a bat that hits farther???? my only qestion is/was, how do these bats keep out-performing previous bats that are already to the limits of legality????? |
| Feb. 4, 2013 bkb555 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Combat Dirty GREAT....Another bat that is more potent than last year's Ambush...or is it a newly painted Ambush....how can anything be more potent than that bat and be legal?????......it amazes me every year that bats come out and just when a bat comapny says, "This bat goes right to the edge of legality and distance etc" and then next year they take it farther.......marketing is an amazing thing..now if the SSUSA would just crack down on these equivalents of hitting "golf balls with aluminum bats" mentality |

| Jan. 21, 2013 bkb555 | Topic: Bats Discussion: New Reebok? Really...so just as it happened before I played senior ball when the latest greatest bestest bat comes out in the middle of the winter, the exact same thing is happening in seniors...I get that manufacturers have to sell bats, but if there is a standard for how fast a ball can travel off of a bat, doesn't it reach a point where it can't get any better...oh well, where do i sign up to be put on the pre-pre order list for a bat to replace my latest greatest bestest Reebok one piece Melee that I got last summer....sighhhhh |

| Jan. 9, 2013 bkb555 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SALT CITY CLASSIC 2013 CANCELED Shark....Time to move it to Santaro....I know we will have to upgrade facilities...i.e. concessions and bathroom facilities but fields-wise, it is perfect for that tourney....ever since the county gave Hopkins park to private maintenance, the conditions have deteriorated exponentially......nothing like money getting in the way of how a softball league/tournament is conducted |
| Jan. 4, 2013 bkb555 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: place best hitters last strategy not a good idea at all......worst case scenario, your best hitters might not get up until the 3rd inning......maybe sprinkling a few weaker hitters throughout the lineup.....BUT best way to go is to put best hitters in position where they get the most at bats and the most chances to drive in runs...bottom line |
| Dec. 24, 2012 bkb555 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: What did you do in your last at bat? we were in a tourney at Viginia beach....we were getting killed and it was the 5th inning...the other team "let" us hit as a courtesy....I figured it was my last at bat in a beautiful city and what the heck.....i had aleady ripped two doubles down the third base line and was feeling good...the guy before me tried yanking one out and topped it for a single...I figured it was my turn and took my swing...the pitcher was a line drive, flat ball pitcher so i had to really dip my back shoulder and hit a laser over left field fence....it was our fifth run of the inning so THAT was the last at bat of the tourney for us and I felt the weekend ended with a bang...so it wasn't a total loss and gave us something to talk about |
| Nov. 18, 2012 bkb555 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Update from USSSA National Convention we dont play Utrip senior softball (yet) but I think the net rule should be revised.....not an out but a strike and an out after second time....anyone can miss-hit a ball and hit the net but if you do it 2 times in an at bat, then THAT is the penalty of hitting low....we did just fine in our senior league with u trip bats....sure, the balls didnt go out like the senior bats but then it brought the game back to the players and no more "excuse me" HR's like the senior bats produce now...i have both bats and the senior bats are insane compared to U trip bats |
| Oct. 22, 2012 bkb555 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: What does it take to be a Major player? I don't think it is being a "major" player that is important but rather being a "major" team......by this I mean, having a good hitting team that can produce singles but also get HR's when needed.....our team is a good AAA team and I think i could play on a "major" team but the other players around me would have to step up for this to happen so we could compete on that level....right now, we are a AAA team because we lack consistent hitting throughout the lineup and dont get runs every inning...that is a recipe for losses and not moving up.....so back to the original post, I think a major player is a good AAA player who can compliment a team and fill in and produce to keep the team moving along....if you put one "major" player on a AAA team, you will see how his contributions will lessen because the others around him cant compliment his abilities....it is a team thing more than an individual thing....major teams just have a lot more great AAA players....bkb555 |
| Sept. 15, 2012 bkb555 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SLIDING!! no sliding at all for me...it hurts and usually leaves a sore/cut on knee...if I cant make it, I dont go...AND I can run |
| Sept. 10, 2012 bkb555 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Is it too much to expect ice water in the dugout? really, you have to ask this question????...playing softball for 30-40 years and you have to have somebody else supply ice and etc????? reminds me of guys on my hockey team who don't bring a water bottle to the bench.....been playing hockey for 30 years and all of a sudden, you realize you get thirsty while playing?????how about filling a cooler of ice and bringing it to the park...not too much to ask of players or a team manager...it is NOT the facility's responsibility |
| Sept. 9, 2012 bkb555 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: NORTHEAST CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS good tourney, sharkey...now we really have to do something about getting the county back to maintaining the fields...Hopkins Road park used to be the best fields around but since the park has been sub-contracted to a private company, the conditions have gone down terribly..i personally had a ball bounce 10 feet over my head in the outfield on a line drive while another outfielder had the same thing happen to him...if we want as many teams to come to syracuse, we want the conditions to be a reason why they come here.....otherwise, it was a great time and our team, Custom Logo of Syracuse thanks you for all your hard work and organization....thanks, brian bkb555 |
| Sept. 9, 2012 bkb555 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Combat Ambush updates OK OK OK.....swing, so you want ogt know how far it crushes the competition????...we just finished the northeast senior tourney in Syracuse and we had guys who hit balls out of the park who never SNIFFED the warning track before.......I told you we broke out the bat right out of the wrapper a week ago and my first swing off the END of the bat went out of the 300 foot fence...the fences in the tourney we just played were 315 to 320 qnd they were wayyy over that mark....I kept saying to the guys, these bats remind me of the very first Ultras (which I used once and put down because it was so sick)...I really would not doubtr if this bat makes it into next season...sorry guys but this thing is hot hot hot...maybe too hot as I stated earlier.....guys will be snatching them up left and right but for how long, who is too say..so Swing to answer your question......I would say 30-40 extra feet is not an understatement for distance and real power hitters will get more |
