Discussion: The New Combat Company

as a Bauer hockey stick user, if the same quality of their sticks is used in their bats, then there should be good success...one note though, Combat has infiltrated the hockey stick market already and maybe this is Bauer's way of getting their hands on their hockey stick technology....Bauer at one point was joined with Nike and was known as Nike/Bauer in the hockey world...Nike didn't do so well and it is back to Bauer again....many sports companies consolidate and we have seen it over the years with Wilson /demarini....worth/miken......so this joining just goes with the past of other sports companies.....look up tileist/footjoy/ adidas someday....they are all under the acushnet umbrella company...seemingly 3 separate brands going head to head but owned by the same company.......stay tuned combat fans

Omar...I do go to this board every day...i may not post everyday but I look at it....that part is easy, but I like to read th eposts and go along but if I want to comment on something, I have to re-sign-in before I can comment and when i leave the site, I NEVER log off...maybe it is something with my computer but every other site I go on keeps me logged in not matter how long i have been away from the board.....if you have the answer to this , let me know....most boards let you know as soon as you click on the site if you are logged in.....

and really , without blowing any holes in my questions, I am sure I am not hte only one who might have had a few constructive comments about the board.......being you have almost 4000 posts, you are familiar with all the peculiarities of this site and I don't have a problem with the content, I am just trying to maybe look at getting to it easier.....trust me, I have been on Mohr board when it began and was THEE beginning of softball websites, so I DO know how to navigate these boards......why not just take a little survey and see if any other members have any input to the site......

Discussion: Time to change the format of the board

Guys, I have been on message boards since the beginning of internet time and I have got to say this Board needs a makeover...it is very hard to navigate, you have to go through all the posts before you get to the latest commentts and you have to sign in everytime you leave the board....i know i probably have the wrong settings on the last one (maybe) but whoever is in charge of the site needs to take a look at some of the more user friendly sites I have used in the past to get an idea of how much easier this board could be navigated....some others i use are....golfdiscussions.com, softballfans.com, inlinewarehouse.com, and northeastsoftball.net (now changed to softballforumz?.com)......you may have to sign into these sites to gain access to the boards but you will see how eye pleasing these other sites are and this one can be.......just give it a look before the grenades come out...thanks,bkb555....brian

Discussion: How Weather Affects Softball Travel Distances:

I rememeber years ago, I read the book, "The Physics of Baseball" which included many of the above points...I think the same study should be done with softball and put it in layman's terms to relate it to our game......if you haven't read the book, you should...there are many brain numbing items like a fastball can't rise etc and temperature, bat speed etc......enjoy

Discussion: Talk regarding illegal bats

As an outfielder, i could tell immediately if a bat was altered/juiced/shaved etc by the sound and the way it traveled over the fence or over your head.....that was in U trip leagues though...with senior ball, it is very difficult to tell because the bats all have that "crack" sound and before you know it, the ball is 40 feet over the fence.......i bet there are probably a bunch out there who do it but as for me being able to tell right now, I wouldn't be able to call out any bats that I played against.....but the real issue is WHY???? we aren't playing for money ( I think) and it's not like in the old days when you got prize money for winning a tourney....every one likes to get a good dinger now and then but for me, knowing I used a cheater bat to do it, doesnt make me feel any better.....that is one reason why i never used a Miken(no matter what model) because I knew right from the get go, they were too good for the game....I stuck with my triConn and mutants while other guys were blasting away withy ultras and freaks.....but at least i knew it was ME who supplied the power and not the bat.....senior ball is different though...I feel like everyone is on a level playing field, so any bat is good to go...I use a Melee in senior tourneys but a Worth 454 in league Utrip/senior games......there is no doubt a senior bat gives you extra distance and to shave it or roll it is just plain egotistical and selfish

Discussion: Recommended ASA single wall bats

I purchased 2 bats last year from Alan (Tri18) and only so because of his testing and recommendations...I have NO complaints at all...My only complaint is just when I get a new bat, a HOTTER, better, more durable bat comes out 2 months later....as for the ASA bat, it seems so ironic that a Division that has been so strict over the years on ball speed etc now surpasses the standards (according to performance by reviews) of U-trip bats......I don't get it....and are ASA bats legal in senior ball?????

Discussion: Why the low prices on bats?

new stuff comes out and the older (6 months) gets reduced...alot of times it is just a paint job of an old model ....so sometimes it pays to get last years model at a discount price and still get all the performance......hockey gear is like that all the time...if you want it now, you will pay for it...wait a few months or a year and get $500 pair of skates for $150

darryl, I have been saying this for years about Santaro...it is prime location and has the capability to be a premier facility in the area...With Brett taking over managing, he knows what it takes to make a park upper echelon and maybe we can get some senior tournies there over the next few years......brian...bkb555
