Discussion: Bat Thrown Out Of Tourney, Why Not Player????

A bat was taken from a player this weekend in Loudon County Va as the tournament director deemed it illegal. The end cap came off during a hit. The umpire looked down inside the bat saw "scrape" marks, took it to Director who walked over to First Base and questioned player. He saiid he saw scrape marks in the inside indicative of shaving. The batter denied it of course but was permitted to continue playing.
What is the rule governing illegal bats?

What 50 AAA Teams are going to Raleigh. ISSA is hosting a tournament in Charlotte the same weekend (charging $100 more), but I hope we send a strong message to Mr. Thomas that he shouldn't schedule on top of an existing tournament. JMO
