Topic: Tournaments
Discussion: Clarification

After recently competing in the LVSSA tournament last weekend, I still have this burning question. Why is it that certain teams are allowed to fluctuate between ratings, i.e Las Vegas 60s (victors in the Tournament of Champions in Florida) and yet were allowed to compete in the LVSSA tournament as a AA team. It is frustrating and disheartening to always have to compete in these tournaments against teams that are clearly above your. I thought the classification of teams was done to create a sense of fair play and leveling of the playing field. All to often, just the opposite takes place and seemingly nothing is done about it. it happened to us last year with the Arizona team and again this year as stated. Nevertheless, the LVSSA's tournament went ok. I just wish that when there are not enough teams to compete at the different levels (AA, AAA, etc) simply don't have one. My one question is what team won the AA division championship? Or the AAA?

Does it cost $50 to file a protest? If so, why? Do the referees know the correct answer? We were told, in fact, that it did by the referees this weekend in LV.

Congratulations to the San Diego group for putting on an excellently run tournament. That's all I've got to say.
