Discussion: 1-1 count no extra foul tourney

Personally, can go either way. Whatever the rule I'm in.

Can see where a number of players may accept the 1-1 count but not the "no foul" rule. Split the deal, 1-1 count with the foul ball.

Discussion: Miken Ultra 2 piece

Was never a Demarini fan but their 2013 two piece is a hidden gem. We have 5'11" 165 lb outfielders hitting bombs with it. At first they hated it, once it was broken in they wouldn't put it down.

Yes, I do have it in my bag. Has lasted the entire season.

Used this model 10/11-7/12. Good pop and performance. Bought a couple replacements June of 2012, both duds. Sent back to Miken, waiting for reply.

Jawood, funny.

Duke, fun as an occasional formatt.

SSUSA by its nature has rosters of gentlemen that have played for many, many years. Honestly should look at 1-1 count and no foul ball.

Discussion: One pitch

Played many variations of the one pitch, actually love it. Found the best formatt to be unlimited home runs with regular defense, meaning opposing pitcher pitches. Pitched ball is a walk. Strike, swing or called out. Foul ball out.

Opposing pitcher can pitch as soon as his team while on defense clears the foul lines and becomes the offensive team. Lot of hustle/running.

Ms. Allen,

That's why 9.01C is an umpires best friend. There is no wrong answer.

Take care.

Ms. Allen,

Some have extensive experience umpiring. In my case over 32 years of youth, highschool, junior college, college baseball, and all levels if slow pitch softball.

The case in which Swing is talking about was a dead all situation prior to the at bat in question. A homeruns was hit for a single to load the bases. Several homerun balls were thrown back in at this time. Ump turned his back to store balls, returned to the plate and said play.

At no time did the SS ask for time to let the ump know he had a ball.

I have no idea way the SS did this, nor do I know his intentions but as an umpire when something foreign or unusual (child) happens on my field my natural action is to call time, stop the action and access what happen.

9.01C since the defense introduced the object I would at minimum replay the pitch or a worst award first base to the batter. One the same hand if it was the offense say tossing a ball in the field of play from the dougout and there guy gets a hit or homerun we again replay the pitch at mininuim or at worst call the batter out.

9.01c an umpires best friend. Anything not covered in the rule book is the judgement of the umpire.

As an umpire I would generally penalize the team committing the infractions. Having an effect on the play is irrelevant. The SS not yelling for a timeout prior to the pitch does leave some question.

In this case I would have called dead ball and resumed the at bat. If the batted ball resulted in a positive result for the offense I would let it stand.

What Tim has forgot to mention is the formatts in which we have played. SSUSA in Major up until now was 5 hrs and out. NCSSA its 1 hr and equalizer, both which negates the power of MTC 50. Barons would play small ball and force his team to play defense. With the rule changes in SSUSA for Major Tim knows he can out power most teams, thats why he's laying low for Las Vegas.

Barons has 3 rated Major Plus players. One is legit, another never saw the field with his team to earn his Major Plus ranking, the last is 65 years old. Our 3 pick ups for this year were from AAA. Barons is, timely homeruns, base hitting and defense. We consider ourshelves a "true" Major team.

By the way I was in the 40's with Byrons and MAC , 50 Major Plus with MAC2. We were one of the few teams that beat the Mavericks to win a tournament (Palm Springs). I know a Major Plus team when I see it.

Don't really post on boards much but heres my imput.

With the current SSUSA rules the Plus team would beat a Major 8 out of 10 times. In Nor Cal with the 1 homerun and I up the Major's can compete and occassionally win. These are different formats and will offer vastly different results. To combine as some suggest Plus/Major in SSUSA, SPA, etc in my mind isn't a good idea.

The problem with Major Plus...Lack of teams....Heres why.

Team ranked #1 in Nor Cal.

Team has 2 players on Senior Softball Impact Players List.

Team just picked up 2 additional MPlus players.

Team has 4\5 players from A\AA USSSA MEN'S.

That's 8/9 Major Plus caliber players on a SSUSA Major team.

That team: MTC 50

MeBill,

I have two of the 454 Senior 28 oz. Breaking them in off a tee noticed one is good to go, and one seems to be a log. I"ve used the Toxic (green) for some time, disappointed that they're discontined.

Tim,

What was discussed was going middle, each side of the pitcher, or straight up head hunting. We all know the difference.
