Thanks Mango. I obviously can use a lesson ...... Freakin John Heller LOL. Thanks for bringing up the fact that I made the last out. I hit it exactly where I wanted to and John gets up and snags it. Oh the nightmares ........ More ammunition for my team to give me more crap lol. There was no fray. Just some spirited fellas debating a base line. It was blown way of proportion in my humble opinion. I'm also happy to see the growth the 50 major plus division is experiencing. I hope it continues. Come on out and play fellas. Play against the best and it wants and makes you want to get better. We're really a 55+ team but we'll be back at the 50's. Why? Cos we want to play the best and that's where they're at. See you guys soon.

I just wanted to send out a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to Sommerville Softball. The 50 major plus bracket was loaded with great teams from all over the country. To come out of this undefeated, well I can only tip my hat to all of you. You guys have a great very fast outfield, great infield, Heller does a great job pitching, you hit for average and power. You guys hustle and slide when you should. Did I miss anything LOL. Truly a great complete ball club. We were able to beat everyone else and not you guys. It makes us want to work harder, to get in better shape, and work on our craft more. We're looking forward to competing with you again soon. We love playing against the best. Somerville Softball proved it was the best. CONGRATULATIONS again. Enjoy the parade ......

I think the 2015 models are better. I personally swing the balance and there's a night and day difference for the better. I know my teammates that swing the 2015 end load have great things to say about it.

I swing the new 2015 Demarini Balanced One and absolutely love it. Very durable and the ball jumps off it! Lot's of guys are using the Demarini End Load and swear by it also.

Discussion: Major plus problem

I was asked a simple question. What separates major plus players? My answer - commitment, and hard work. I don't know if I'm right but that was my answer. Our team Az Elite is not any different than most teams except that we still love the game and work at it. Benji made great points in his post. We want to be better. We take BP. We work at getting better. Many of us work out. We know we have to in order to be competitive. We want to compete against the best. We love to win, but we love to compete against the best more. I'd rather lace them up in a tournament where multiple teams could win versus showing up against poor competition. We got bumped up to major plus and never complained and have always just shown up and done our best. When you lose you tip your cap and congratulate the other team. When you win you know you earned it against great competition. Playing against the best has always been the driver for us ....... Playing a great game against a great team, there's nothing better on a ball field .......... Good luck everyone. I hope you have a great 2015!

Discussion: How to get more teams willing to play in the Major-plus division

I got it bad. The softball sickness, I got it bad.
I personally, and I know I can speak for my team, enjoy playing the best. The worlds this past year in Vegas was great! Every game was against a very good team. I think the plus division is getting better with more teams. I look forward to playing the best! That's why we do this, not to go out and win easily. It's about being challenged and digging deep. When we lose we tip our hat and congratulate the other team. When we win it's good to know it was against a very good team that could have beaten us as well. I enjoy the competition. We also were bumped to plus without winning the worlds. We never complained and actually have enjoyed the competition. If we win a ring it's because it was earned. I'm super happy with my teammates. I love these guys and would hate to be forced to break up. I will never support that thought.....

Hey Jeff,
This is Dave with AZ Elite. The 2014 Demarini bat's are really really good. I compare it to the Reebok line, only better. Me personally I've never been a fan of Miken. I use to swing Combat's and Reeboks. Give me a call 602-885-5437. Vegas was fun, I hope your guys get healed up.

Discussion: New rules and communication

Wow, I've been out of it and just found out about these new rule changes. AZ Elite started out as a 50 majors team, we were bumped up to 50 major plus and we didn't argue, we've never been afraid to compete against the best. When we were young playing A ball we couldn't wait to play in major tournaments. Our attitude hasn't changed. Over half of our team is over 55 but we want to stay together. We love the brotherhood that we have on our squad. My thoughts, only MY thoughts.....
1. I wish we could just show up at a park and play against all the 50 yr old teams. May the best team that weekend win. We've won our share and gotten beat as well. When you lose, you tip your hat and congratulate the other team. Make a vow to try and get better. We'll play anyone anytime. We'll battle, not sure we'll win but we'll battle and that's what we care about as a team. The competition and our teammates. We all love the game of softball, this softball disease that we share. That's why we do this still at our age. The softball sickness.....
2. I personally don't care what the HR rule is. We'll adapt and we'll do our best to compete.
3. I do care about trying to play in the best tournaments with the best competition. Out west we've started a major plus email communication so that we all share where we're playing so we can maximize teams and expenses. Major plus teams please join us and respond with an email address and we'll include you in our communique. There's power in numbers. If we stay together, communicate, then we'll be able to play in well attended tournaments. Whatever the organization is....
Lastly, Marv (god bless him) mentioned our 13-12 game with Nazzareno. He didn't mention the hurricane winds coming in from the outfield to the plate. Thus the score....
4. Sorry I haven't done this earlier. Congratulations to Flip and Nazzareno for winning the 50 major + worlds. I wish we could've given you a better game. No excuses but 5 games in a row on Sunday was too much for our old butts! You guys really rolled through the tourney, congrats again!!
Looking forward to battling in 2014. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Discussion: Suspensions

I saw the whole thing after our game finished. The sun was down low and was creating a dangerous field and no way of seeing a ball hit hard at 3rd or SS. It was dangerous, It was brutal.... Braves 3B said he wouldn't play under those conditions and walked off the field. Then the talking started. Tournament officials decided to move fields and the talking continued as they were changing fields. The real shame of this is that it was only a handful of guys talking combined between both teams and now all players are suspended. For sure not fair to those who said or did nothing that was unsportsmanlike. Which was most of the players.....

Senior Softball. Is there anyway to get a list of the 50 & 55 major + teams and the managers contact info? I think we can drive better major + attendance to tournaments with some better communication between ourselves. Just need contact information in order to do so.
