| Jan. 11, 2009 Mighty Grip | Topic: Bats Discussion: Is this story true ??? I heard this story the other day and tried to look it up but could not find anything. The story goes that Ted Williams coach wanted him to sit the last game (or few) to keep his avg at 400 but Ted refused and played only to hit well and end up with a 406 avg. Can any of you baseball history buffs or research experts tell if this is true ??? Thanks for your help.... |

As the boys jumped for joy they noticed the Japan team members starting to cry, the boys from Georgia stopped, walked over to the Japan and starting hugging their fellow ball players that just loss a long eight innings battle. In was true sportsmanship, caring and class. Not a simple hand slap but hugs. A sign of hope that sports may not be overrun by greed and self-centered attitude. While talking to a college coach (softball) the other day the topic of senior softball came up and I was bragging on how good many of the senior teams are. She said that maybe we just needed more of a challenge, like maybe a game against a D1 college team. We laughed at the thought but it gave me an idea. If there is a team in the Southern California, Riverside area that would like to play a slowpitch game against a powerhouse college softball team then let me know. | April 19, 2007 Mighty Grip | Topic: Bats Discussion: Who is your 'best hitter' My vote is for all those over 80 still hitting the ball to the outfield. my friend Dom here in the east valley (PHX) is 84 and can hit 220ft, runs better than most. However if the tournament is a SSUSA event they might make an exception but he just was not sure. Sorry I could not get a solid answer for you. Good luck in the tournament, have fun, it's a great park. We had a blast watching some of the best college teams in the nation play this weekend. Lots of sunburns and beer. Jennie Finch's dad invented a device for thowing years back. It worked very well for Jennie as we all know. It is called the finch-windmill and it will help your thowing and batting. If you swing a 27 EL bat than you will want the 28, if you want a lighter swing the 26 will work. Please note that our current model does not have any stamps and can only be used where they are nice enought to let you. The senior model with all stamps of approval will be ready in about 30 days at softball sales. This bat is designed to flex more at slower bat speed and will be only for senior softball (ASA, 1.20). It is currety being tested in Arizona with great success. Not a U2, but will make the game more fun that any other ASA bat. |
| Sept. 24, 2006 Mighty Grip | Topic: Bats Discussion: new bat rule??? This is Bill Gateley with Rip It. As you know we make bats and I wanted to share with you that what the Miken rep said is true. Since the test was turned over to a third party to keep the standard simple, all bat makers are on the same page. Once the bat is approved it is good to go. That would only change if the the bat company made a change in production without letting ASA, USSSA or NSA know about it. The fastpitch bat in question was the Cat -8 which was producted before the new testing standard. That bat was mainly used in college and did not have a huge affect. So we are all on a level playing field now. The main factor in bats now is flex vs cracking. How much flex can you put in a bat, meet the legal limit and avoid cracking. For then the demon of returns will forever haunt your bottom line. Hope this helps......thanks |

Most seniors use a 47/525 ball, play almost every day and ofter in cold weather. Combine this with a 'high flex' bat and the amount of return bats could be too high for any of the companies. I can assure you that the Rip It is a long lasting bat with double the life of the U2. If you call me, 480-241-3717, I can give you more info.....Bill |
