| Jan. 23, 2013 JDub | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: TOC 55 division As I stated in a prior TOC message, the TOC has the Appearance of being a more Prestigious Tournament, and seems to have more Emphasis (or Marketing) than the World Championships!? If you have to WIN a TOC to Play in the TOC Championships, then shouldn't there be Funding to get you there, much like the USSSA World Series & ASA Nationals ? ? ? My point is, RINGS are only GIVEN to the WORLD & TOC Champions! I just don't see the need for two (2) separate Tournaments. Back in the Day, you had to Earn your Berth to the WORLD. There are already several TOC Tournaments throughout the Schedule, so why not use the TOC the way NIT's were used in the past? This way SSUSA offers one (1) True Champion at the end of the Year! To me, the TOC is a FLUFF Tourney, with very low turnout, and having to Combine Divisions just to make up Brackets. IMHO, that just doesn't set very well . . . I would recommend just going to one (1) year-end World Tournament, moving it East, West, and Central every other year. Just a thought . . . Regards, Jeff White #7 Arizona Elite |

| Jan. 7, 2013 JDub | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: More 1-1 Count Talk ONE & ONE COUNT • Survey Updates (above): No Change in results, as 40's & 50's is where the Least Resistance to the 1-1 Count, with progressively More Resistance by age progression at 60+ . . . Survey is only up to 29%, from 28% response. Sad showing, given the opportunity for Participant Input . . . http://seniorsoftball.com/wc/wc2012/One-One-Count-Survey-Data.pdf Regards, Jeff White #7 Arizona Elite (50+) Thanks again SSUSA Staff ! ! ! |

If you have not yet expressed your preference, please do so before that time ... Final results will be released shortly after the deadline ... Thank you! |
| Jan. 6, 2013 JDub | Topic: Bats Discussion: Recent bat poll I know, I know, the Right to Bare Arms is our 2nd Amendment. Therefore, that would be Unconstitutional! And after All, Weapons don't Kill the Game, People Do ! ! ! |
| Jan. 6, 2013 JDub | Topic: Bats Discussion: Recent bat poll ANOTHER BAT POLL: 1) Keep Senior Bats 2) Eliminate Senior Bats |
| Jan. 3, 2013 JDub | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Alternative to 1 - 1 rule. 3-3 Alternative is no big deal, but I would still prefer none to waste! The MAT on the other hand does give an edge to some Pitchers, especialy with a nice breeze across the plate! The MAT is Absolutely Necessary, as it Minimizes the Argument of Balls & Strikes which helps keep Games on Schedule (IMHO). There are still plenty of Height Arguments, but that stems from 10' ASA Arc, versus 12' SSUSA Arc. I prefer less than 10' as a Hitter, but definitely prefer 12' as a Pitcher ! ! ! |

| Jan. 3, 2013 JDub | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: More 1-1 Count Talk ONE & ONE COUNT • Survey Updates (above): Interesting to see the preference by age. Current results as I believed are 40's & 50's is where there is Least Resistance to the 1-1 Count (thus far), with progressively More Resistance by age progression. 60+ is where it appears the 0-0 Count is preferred . . . There are a lot of outstanding invitations to vote, so I guess the Jury is still out on Winter Vacation with only 28% response . . . http://seniorsoftball.com/wc/wc2012/One-One-Count-Survey-Data.pdf Regards, Jeff White #7 Arizona Elite Thank you for the interactive information SSUSA Staff ! ! ! |
| Jan. 1, 2013 JDub | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: More 1-1 Count Talk As Jawood stated, "it would be interesting to know what the percentage breakdown is in the different age groups." I'll go a step further to add, it would also be interesting to see "Run Production" in the different age groups by Division. I would venture to guess there is less "Run Production" below Major and progressively less by age group!? Again, the 1-1 count does Not Benefit all Divisions, however, many 40 & 50 Major & Major Plus Players have played or at least been exposed to the 1-1, none to waste, as is the Rule in USSSA Major & ASA "A" Nationals. Good Pitchers gain a very slight edge and would prefer it, but again we still know it's a True Hitters Game! If SSUSA were to Experiment, one would think Major & Major Plus (40's & 50's) would be where to do so, as I believe it's at this Level where the Least Resistance to the Rule would be (IMHO) ! ! ! I don't believe the Ultimate Goal has even been established, but I believe the Logical Reason would be keeping games on schedule throughout the Tournament!? However, what may be Fair & Equitable is not necessarily a Rule that needs to be incorporated across all Divisions (IMHO) ! ? ! ? I'm Playing regardless of the outcome, but why not Expand the Survey to see what each Divisions input truly is. SSUSA does a Great Job overall, but there is always Room for Improvement . . . Happy New Year, Jeff White #7 Arizona Elite |
| Dec. 29, 2012 JDub | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: survey You are somewhat correct Steve, 1-1 count, none to waste doesn't Benefit everyone! Not sure what Level you play in Seniors and with the young guys, but in USSSA Major & ASA "A" Nationals 1-1, none to waste is the Rule. Good Pitchers gain a very slight edge, but it's still a True Hitters Game. The Majority of the 40 & 50 Major & Major Plus Senior Players have played or at least been exposed to 1-1, none to waste, so it's at that Level where the least resistance to the Rule should or will be. If SSUSA were to Experiment, one would think Major & Major Plus would be where to do so (IMHO) ! ! ! Don't lose any sleep over it, as the actual SSUSA Survey that was emailed was for 1-1, with 1 to waste (if I recall correctly) ! ? ! ? Regards, Jeff White #7 Arizona Elite |
| Dec. 29, 2012 JDub | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: AAA HR rule question Marv, since you're visiting the SSUSA Board, let me just state that if you took some time to Understand Pitching Rules you could also keep your Games on Schedule. One (1) time past the Hip does NOT constitute a Windmill Pitch! Get it Right, cuz Real Pitchers don't always like Serving up Cookies in a "Hitters Game." Some Pitchers know how to mix things up Legally and otherwise, therefore, if a Half Windmill Upsets Hitters then why not just use a Tee ? ? ? Your Umpires were advised of my "Specialty Pitches" prior to each game, and I mentioned there would be Whiners! Your Umpires didn't have a Problem, and enjoyed it, but because your Participating Teams were Whining all day (including Sommerville), you tried to Enforce that it is an Illegal Pitch! At least a couple of your Umpires (and Players) ignored you and got it right! Have you even bothered to look up that Specific Rule yet? Reminder, ASA, NSA, and SSUSA don't have a Problem with the Half Windmill Delivery . . . Please take note, we Enjoy Playing in Cali, but you gotta let Pitchers have a little FUN too, as long as we're in the cross-hairs of every pitch . . . Happy New Year, Jeff White #7 Arizona Elite |
| Dec. 28, 2012 JDub | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: survey WOW TIMMY, SOMETHING WE FINALLY AGREE ON ! ! ! 1-1, NONE TO WASTE SHOULD BE USED IN MAJOR+ AT A MINIMUM. WOULDN'T BOTHER ME A BIT IN MAJOR EITHER . . . Regards, Jeff White #7 Arizona Elite |
