I don't post here much, part of it is the constant griping and complaining about balls and the hi-jacking of the entire message board by these posts.
I also am really tired of reading the attacks on Trump ball even if he is not mentioned by name. He does not need me to defend him,he does pretty good himself.
If this is all that posters can think to say on this board; I will even quit reading it.
Senior softball is fun and these negative poster are not going to ruin it for me.

What is this ?
The BCS? Now we are rating teams even before they play one tournament?
The Yankees have the highest payroll; but they still have to do it on the field!

Discussion: HR's cry me a river

You guys are barking up the wrong tree with Wagon.I play against him.He is a complete player who plays the ENTIRE game. He can hit the long ball and he can play defense, but he ain't happy unless he goes 8 for 8.He adjusts to the circumstances. He is just expressing his opinion. He like others on this board are just getting tired of hearing all the crying about HR's.Let's play with these new rules and see how it works out.We have got to do something to even the playing field between mainly Major and Major+.
But maybe AAA falls under this also.

Wagon,
You and I are on the same page on this one.All of this comes from the lazy swings developed by UII's.

OK,old guys.I know you remember these guys out of Jacksonville.I know there are even guy on here from Jville-Hollis's etc.I remember the year that they won the ASA's and they were like 94-2 for the year. They were not the perrenial powerhouse like Howard's;but they had a heck of a team that year.A couple of the stand out names were/are Bruce Meade,Ray Fleetwood,Mike Nye,Lonnie Turner,Ronnie Ford.Old Mr Warren had that big fence around that dealership-it wasn't to protect the cars-just the trophies in the windows.Anybody here ever play against them? Where did all those guys go.?I think Mike Nye was the strongest ballplayer that ever put on a uniform.

I remember 1974 or 76.ASA Nationals in York,Pa. Labor day
Sitting in the stands with them.Great bunch of guys-had those country drawls.I don't think they won that year.I remember another team-Jiffy Club&Jerry's were doing well. But I do remember several players-you guys probably played with them.Bert Smith-first guy I had ever seen walk up in box.HT Waller,Big ole Tony Cloninger,Don Arndt,Stan Harvey. Those were the days.Gas .33/gal

I really believe that this had to be done for everyone in Senior Ball;especially in Major and Super Major divisions. In my honest opinion AAA had gotten to be more fun than what I was playing Major+.We got there by winning a few tournaments;not for hitting HR's.So you have 2 scenarios;1. You go to a rournament and there are no Major + teams there-you end up playing the age group below you in Major. Not a bad idea;except when your whole team is say 58,59,60 and the team you are playing is just turning 50.2.or you go to a national tournament and the Major+ team you are playing hits all allowed and just keeps hittingmore HR's for singles. When the final tally is taken;they have hit 18 to your 4. It is hard for a true Major (which is what we are)team to keep up with that. +there is no defense in that. This way gives a true Major team a chance against a Major + team.
I know this may noy be the answer but it is a start.

Hey-Wagon-what's up.

Hey Don Ward
Glad to hear you are doing well.Hey,we are in our winter work out mode up here.If it gets above 45 degrees we hit-helps to break the bats in also.I have left Spicer's 55.No hard feelings,no problems, just time to move on.I am 60 right now and want to play 60's.Spicer had a 60 team all year which I am not involved with; only one of our 55 team is with them..They are rated Major + and will be in for a long year.Bruce just played against them in Ft Myers.I am still going to play in our leagues up here with some of the Turn2 guys and hope to be involved with a tournament team in Va.as a player.I only managed out of neccesity. You guys won alot this year. That ASA against you guys was a classic battle.

Take Care

Don&Bruce;
You know; people can say what they want about these new rules where they are playing 10 HR's + 1up , but that was fun softball we played against you guys . Not too many HR's and everybody has to make plays. Although I wish I was playing 1 HR against you guys(would have given us a better chance).

Good Luck to you guys.

jah#4,
Just to clarify myself in this post above;I was referring to that throw to the plate that broke our backs. I wasn't saying anything "funny" about your pitching. I ain't like that.
