Discussion: Prayers for Roger "Doc" Clay

Just got word that Roger "Doc" Clay is battling cancer. Doc currently resides in Plano.

I am not sure who Doc has been playing with. If you have any information about his recent play please post.

Doc played on the great DuBose Insurane team of the 70-80s in Pensacola.

Please keep Doc and his family in your prayers.

Discussion: Teams leaving SSUSA?

Tim

I often read your comments on the Oldscout and agree with a lot of your opinions. That probably puts me in the minority but if you are right you're right.

I have a number of friends on the Adiktiv team and believe they could win the 50 M+ division in Vegas with or without the DBO. Hopefully they will rethink their decision to boycott SSUSA tournaments.

You obviously like the DBO for your reasons and many of us don't like it. Today the DBO is in place in the SSUSA, maybe tomorrow that will change?

Patty Mac and A dik (Paco) I for one hope Adiktiv Sports rethinks your boycotting of the SSUSA. Since you all have been tagged as a one dimensional, HR or nothing team, that should challenge you to win Vegas-DBO or not.

An absolute nightmare for a pitcher would be facing Ronnie, Paco, Lang, Patty Mac, Ananias, Tim Lee, Merrill and the rest with no HRs left to hit.

You can prove a point by not playing SSUSA or you can prove a point by playing and showing that you play D, basehit, have power and are a complete TEAM.

My bet is everybody in our little corner if the world is pulling for you to play.

Discussion: Why Not Have A Players Committee Of Real Players To Over See The Rules

Patty Mac, I really hate this gentler/kinder you. Everybody that knows you is accustomed to the edgy competitor and don't ever change

As for as you not being a complete player, come on bro get real. You are in the NSSHOF and Legends HOF. You have played at the top level for 35+ years.

People will agree and disagree with you, no problem, you only want whats you feel is best for the game.

Forget the politically correct crap, it ain't you.

Here in Pensacola we have two senior leagues along with Tuesday and Thursday morning games. Lenny is very active in their success. Lenny was recognized and awarded for his accomplishments this year including his team winning the season ending tournament.

I hope you are 100% after your rehab and hope to see you and Lynn soon.

Airbosn, cool to see a guy that plays defense, runs like the wind, basehits with anybody and doesn't live for the HR, recognize the home run is a very important part of the game.

Congtars on your award Tuesday night, was well deserved.

Like I asked above, do you two swing senior bats in tournaments? I bet you do, but why? Talk the talk then walk the walk.

We are still waiting on the 12 year old to hit 300 foot bombs.

Also, would love to see a 5 foot 100 pounder hit it 400 feet. I take BP with one of the best players in the game, a member of two HOFs, a guy that can bench press 300 + pounds, a guy who has been a premier HR hitter for 35 years and when he kills one it goes 375.

Something to think about. The SPA has its Rules committee meeting in January, I believe. There is a possibility the SPA will adapt the DBO and mandatory pitchers headgear.

SPA is the dominant organization in the SE, with the possible exception of South Fla. It will be interesting to see if the SPA follows the SSUSA's lead on these rule changes or not.

Adiktiv6, even though TM50/Tim, implies you guys don't' want to play M+, for us who know Adiktiv Sports, we know you all will do great in whatever division you play. We also know there are no other + teams within 500 miles for you to play.

Discussion: How about a discussion on ow we think dbos will effect our games? And our assumptions why.

The truth about the Patty Mac & Bruce Fairchild combo team is they would be hard to beat in the AA, AAA, Major or Major +. They can both basehit, hit bombs and, even though they both play the sloth position (1B), they can pick it.

Just wondering, how many of you guys that want to ban senior bats swing them in tournament?

All of you, just what I thought.

Why don't you guys start the movement and swing only ASA or U-trip bats. If you are going to talk the talk how about walking the walk.

Some of you guys act like everybody can hit HRs at will.

In Las Vegas in the 50 Major + division, hitting rock balls with no DBO and great conditions the scores were:

Winners bracket finals 24-20

Losers bracket finals 17-16

Championship. 33-10

Considering these were the best 50 year olds in the game don't these scores seem very reasonable. The way some of you talk with no DBO the scores should have been 100-99.

Just because you can't hit HRs don't penalize the folks that can.

The DBO and mandatory gear for pitchers has stirred more traffic on this site than anything since the bat/ball debates that got so heated Einstein, Dirty and others were eventually banned from this site.

Why can't the SSUSA step up, spend the time and money and do a survey addressing all the issues mentioned above.

All players would have to live with the survey results. Of course the players have to live with the SSUSA's committees results or not play in SSUSA tournaments, which isn't good for anyone.

Your idea to vote/poll the players is a great idea, even if you were being cynical. Tater 50 and many others have been asking for this for years.

Do you think the players should be polled periodically and changes made accordingly or are you ok with the SSUSA board of 11 making the decisions?

We obviously view the game differently and I respect your opinion even though I don't agree. You and I are only two of the thousands that spend our time and money to play softball.

The ideal solution is to poll the players and let the majority rule. If DBO wins out great. Many players feel the DBO only promotes speeding up the game and penalizes players that hit HRs. Maybe you are right and maybe not. Let the players decide.

Sorry, but if you think you could charge admission to see two Major + teams play a 13-12 game I think you are delusional.

DBO or not 13-12 isn't what a Major + score should be. If that's the case I guess a good AAA game would be 5-4.

Aren't you the guy who said if you can't basehit the ball you shoukd take up knitting? Sounds like there was more knitting than hitting in the game you could charge admission to.

No disrespect to either team and I bet they would both agree they didn't hit the ball that particular game.

There are a lot of great bats out right now, however if you look in the dugouts you will see more Ultra's than anything else.

I am not representing any bat company, which some on here are doing,
just stating what I see.

Discussion: HR rule - why????

Tim, the infamous TM50 on the Old Scout, come on bro no top level player such as yourself can really want to hit a mush ball. If you want to grow the Major + level hitting a mush ball is definitely a step in the wrong direction.

Patty Mac, keep being the voice of reason. For those who have implied Pat needs to take up knitting, is a POS, can't hit the ball down, etc. etc. etc. you are way off base.

Patty Mac has been a top level player for 35+ years and only wants what is best for the game. Guys who work out, take BP and continually work on getting better should be rewarded for their hard work.
