Discussion: Teams leaving SSUSA?

Marv19,

I think you would have plenty of teams wanting to play in your tournament. Many teams would like to play a complete game of 7 innings. Our team played in SPA, and all games after seeding was a full 7 innings. We as players can't ask for more.

Knowing you will play 7 innings a game will make teams want to compete against the stronger Major + team because the team knows they will play a full game instead of 4 innings and time limit. At the end of the day, a team may only have play 15 innings in a weekend. (This happen to us in Vegas at the World, we spend three days in Vegas and played 15 innings between Friday and Sunday. )

Also, scheduling is a big concern, long waits in between games is not good. Some tournaments, our team spend more time on the freeway than on the field playing softball.

Format is a big concern, I would like to see 1 game seeding than double elimination, we need to get away from 5 game round robin, at our age it all about a tournament format. Win and move on, loose and go home

John and the Ncssa ran a great tournament.

We would like to see next year tournament be double elimination instead of single elimination. One less seeding game and start double elimination.

There's no different in playing 4 game or 5 games in a tournament, it all about the competition.

If a team lose 2 straight after seeding then they deserve to go home. That softball.

Our age group comes from the time when you go 0-2 and you are on your way home.

We had 8 outstanding team in the 50 Major+ at one tournament and this could have been an outstanding Double elimination.

Your tournament would be the only Major+ with more than 3 teams with a double elimination format.

Rated Athletic enjoyed going North to play.

Think about it

(Jawood), we are in favorite of the format you mention. Round Robin with 2nd place team have to beat the 1st place team twice. We are not in favorite of a straight Round Robin and best record is the champ. All tournaments should end with a championship game, even if it means one less game in round robin. (see you in Manteca) Rated

Now I know there 2 major + team showing up, who else will be there

Discussion: Major Plus

50 Major +Division, (SSUSA Suggestion)

As a player, I look forward to playing in a tournament with 6 or more teams.
Last year team was the Maverick, this year team is Az Elite, If there are 6 or more teams in the tournament I have no problems competing to win the championship against the Maverick / Az Elite. Even if we were to finish 2nd in every tournament I can live with those result until one days we will pull off the upset. But my point is I look forward to playing a tournament with many teams and I will deal with the two exceptional teams that might win every tournament, but I will not pay to play in a tournament with 2 teams and we play a 2 out of 3.

Major plus games will always be competitive with 5 run per inning and 7 home runs and then walks.

Our team will not play again to the World, where we believe there will be more than 6 Major plus (50)teams.

We look forward to revenging our losses to OKI and Az Elite and all other teams that will be in Vegas.

Next year schedule for 50 Major Plus should be as following:

50 Major Plus tournament should be scheduled in PHX in early March 2014
1. (All 50 Major plus teams on the West Coast must participant and East coast teams are welcome)
2. Next Tournament should be in California in Early May (all west coast teams must participant, east coast teams welcome)
3. Next tournament should be back in Phx in August, playing in the evening (all west coast teams must participant, east coast teams welcome)

Conclusion

I am just suggesting that the 50 Major Plus teams commit to 3 tournament a year and the world, (1 tournament every other month) This example should keep the cost down for the California teams and AZ teams.

Each tournament should be a 2 day tournament (Sat/Sun)
5 runs per inning
7 home run per game and than walks
1-1 count
1 game seeding and then double elimination (3 games guarantee)
Add 10 mins to bracket games before open inning
Last game on Sat starts no later than 745pm and 1st game on Sun no earlier than 9am
Entry fee should be refunded if 6 teams have not enter 2 week before the tournament.
Managers should confirm there teams are enter for all 3 tournament.

Unless more teams commit to 3 tournaments a year this level will never have tournaments worth playing and spending the $$$

(RATED) Team research

These were team counts for 50's major plus since last year

2012 Cal Cup 0 teams

2012 Western nationals 0 teams

2012 Worlds 7 teams

2012 Winter Worlds 0 teams

This is why 50 major team don't move up to 50 major+.

We can have team batting practice for less

You hit the nail on the head. SSUSA has no teams now in the Major+, so changing the rules may be better and if no teams show up because after 7 home runs are dead ball outs, SSUSA would be in the same situation with no teams. (RATED) supports your take an adjustments you point out

Need Info

When is the ASA 50/55 National and what is the location of the tournament. There is no information on the ASA National on the West Coast. We are interested in playing if the dates fit our scheduled.

The reason 50 major teams do not want to play 50 major+,there are not enough teams at all 50+ tournament We just got moved up and we will play Major+ in the World in Vegas and hope their are 7 to 8 teams, We look forward to the challenge. As a 50 major team, we are 0 and 4 again 50 Major + (RATED)
