Discussion: COMPARING TEAMS IN NSA & SPA 50 AAA

Jags,

As far as caliber of play. The Texas Legends had about 7 guys that could hit the ball out and from what I was told had won 3-5 tournaments this year. Houston had won three tournaments and were a good team. The Great Lakes team I thought was a loaded team (I could be wrong) but it was their first tournament. The Coors team even though Rabbit said he thought they were major was against us an excellant triple A team. They did not hit even come close to hitting a home run but they hit ropes, played great defense and they were fast. The team from Arkansas was definately stacked as a player from our team knew of a major + player on that team. Indiana played very well and has some very good power in with the fine defense and hitting they had. I'm surprised they did so poorly against the Coors bunch. As usual we hit 4 home runs total in 7 games. Even though we did poorly we enjoyed playing the teams we played. All of them we gentlemen and great sportsman. It's hard to say we enjoyed it though because we know we were better than we showed. Some of our key players had a subpar tournament which hurt and since it is senior ball we were walking cripples by the last few games with most of the team playing out of position.
Maybe some other teams can chime in and correct me if I made any mistakes.
Good luck

Jags,

Kaysons was 2-5 in Plano
In order
Loss Ind Classics 14-11
Loss Texas Legends 18-17
Loss Houston 24-08
Win Mid South Travelers 17-16
Loss Metro Coors 22-07
Win Great Lakes Fusion 23-22 scored 9 runs with 2 out nobody on in the top of the 7th then held them to no runs in the bottom of the 7th.
Loss Ind Classics 18-14

We have not played well since the loss to you guys. I would say that in Plano we did not play a good game the whole tournament. We played a couple of good innings and that was it. We were very flat and did not show much at all.

Bread,

We are going to have to make some adjustments in Plano. Our pitcher has a jammed thumb from a play on Friday and his foot is black and blue and swelled up twice the size of his other foot from the line drive. Our left fielder will be back (he missed Rock Hill) but we lose our left center fielder for Plano. We have been struggling all year to field the same team in a tournament. We lost me (outfield) and our starting third baseman clean-up hitter before the season started then our left fielder and first baseman went down. Been patching positions every tournament we play in. We have picked up several key players that did not play with us last year though and hope to keep them next year.

How are your two guys? The left fielder and the other fielder (smaller white guy) that could not play against us.
I heard you guys were not going to Plano. How did you guys do against the Coors team this year?

Bread,

I'm #19 on Kaysons and I agree with you on the play at third. The third baseman even said after the game he was trying to deek the runner that the ball was not coming to the base and was standing about three feet in front of the bag in the baseline. He said he should hve been on the side or at the bag. When the ball got there so did the runner and since the third baseman was 160 and the runner over 200 he went flying. The runner may have been able to slide but the third baseman had no business in the baseline. I doubt I would have run him over. But who knows
Great game hats off to you guys.

Jags,

That last game we played against you guys was one of the most intense games I've been involved in for a long time.
I don't know what else could have happened in that game that did not happen except us winnng, great defense, poor defense, great hitting, bad calls, great come back aided by some very poor defense and great clutch hitting by you guys. I'm really glad you guys won it.
The Hackers team I feel was really a major team playing down. The game they played against us in the finals of the losers bracket was an awsome display of hitting on their part. They did not have an easy out in that game. Our outfielders were diving to catch sinnking line drives, going to the fence and gaps all game long. They hit bullets the whole 4 innings while they were blowing us out. If they are an ligit AAA team then there are very few teams that can beat them. We did call them on the Major Plus player that was playing with them (according to the guys on our team he is one of the nicest guys playing the game but he was a major+ player so we called them on it). He was kept out of that game. I guess we pissed them off.

Hi Nancy,

I play for Kaysons Grille the Sidelines 50+ AAA last year. We are not near the team that won the NSA a few years ago which is the team I think you are talking about. Most of the players from that team are playing still. Most of them are playing Major or Major Plus and some AAA. Who was it that you met while you were there?

Have you heard what 50+ AAA teams will be there this year? Hope to see you there. #19 Kaysons Grille (broken hand and out for the season) but I can still run and I do that once an inning.

Rabbit,

Kaysons Grille (Sidelines last year) will be there in the 50AAA. You may see Mid-south Travelers or Cobras but I'm not sure about that. They are the only 50AAA teams down here that we know about. Both are very good teams.

Hope to see you there

Guess I'm being a little dramatic. We lost our second baseman lead-off hitter to Southern Softball and then me. We were short going to Montgomery. I guess it's not as bad as I made out to be.

I never did like a home run being an out. It won't matter too much with us since we don't hit very many. I also don't like the run limit during the elimination games.
Did it say that the last inning was an open inning?

Wish we could have played Brickyard they seem to be a great team. I play for Sidelines AAA all year came down there with the same guys we played with all year and won 28-13 Pen 50, 26-14 Flip Dow and run ruled Scrap Iron 18-3. Got out homered in the round robin but hit the ball very well and played good defense. Hit 4 in five games as a team but got the homor to play up against Kittrels (Gold Coast Merchants)and Segura Farms two great Major teams. Got killed and did not play very well. You have to play your best to stay with these guys and we did not make the big plays or for that matter some of the easy ones. Wish we could have played with our own class to see how we matched up to the other AAA teams.
Congradulations Brickyard and Hats off to Kittrel and Segura you guys are very good!!! See ya all next year Brickyard. Should be fun.
