Discussion: face mask rule

As a pitcher myself, I personally like the idea of a narrow pitching lane. If the ball is hit over the pitcher without touching him then it's a legal hit, even if it was directly over the lane. I also think that even if a pitching lane was established and enforced, at his option, a pitcher should still wear a mask.

Discussion: New rule

I personally think a pitchers mask is a great idea. I've used two different masks over the past three years and won't even consider pitching without one. I started out with a Game Face mask and it did have its problems with glare and restricted vision. I've been using a Rip It for a year or so and I love it. I always wear it with heavy framed sunglasses with no problem at all. As for blind spot?? No way. I think anyone who has witnessed a pitcher get his teeth knocked-out as I have might think twice about not wanting to use a mask; especially with these bats we're using.

Discussion: pitchers shin guards

I used to wear foam soccer shin guards for a long time when pitching. No more! Last year I took a shot to the inside on the knee right next to the knee-cap. Holy crap did that hurt! I soon switched to catcher shin guards that protect the knee cap as-well as the shins and top of feet. I have no doubt in my mind that if the ball I mentioned earlier had hit my knee cap straight on it would have broken or shattered it.

Discussion: Pitching Mask

Not too long ago there was a discussion here regarding pitchers wearing face masks. The post centered around a pitcher that sustained serious facial injuries when the plastic mask he was wearing shattered by a batted ball. I used to use a plastic mask and have since switched to a Rip-It Adult size mask and have been very happy with it. Better visibility and less glare than plastic.

Discussion: Teams Rating

Just wondering, if a team wins a big tournament such as "The Worlds" does the team automatically get moved up in rating for the next year?

Discussion: Which glove should I use?

I primarily play first base and have always used my regular 13.5" glove. My question is: would it be worth investing in a first baseman's glove or do they really make a difference in catching and digging balls out of the dirt?

Discussion: Hr or out

I would say that he's out. If the runner voluntarily elects to run around all the bases then why wouldn't he have to touch the proper home plate?

Discussion: Confused about players joining teams for the Worlds

I'm confused. I thought that a player(s) must play in a "Qualifier" tournament to "qualify" on a team in order to be eligible to play on that team in the Vegas Worlds? I see on various posts, players and teams, looking to fill rosters for the Worlds. Am I wrong on this point?
