The Ohio Classic at BeaverCreek Ohio is giving every team a Combat Centenarian May 21-22. Get a new bat and play ball next to Wright Patterson Air Force base.

Hey Gary, Terry from the 60 AA Silverados. Now that you have a great body come on out to my karate school and show us how to workout. The rabbit thing is bad. Worst part is teams that get up by 10-15 runs and still use the rabbits. Most of the faster players play in the outfield and you can burn them out by Sunday. Not every team has 20 players. The last out was probably a guy that couldnt run and got thrown out at first. Leave the game alone. We have tried to change things and usually mess things up worse. Merry Christmas and good luck in 2011

The Ohio Silverados will be there playing 55 AA. The team has moved to the 60 division so we will be the "Old Guys" If it stays cold could help us it is in the low 20s everyday here! lol Played in 2007, great tournament, but tough on the northeren teams.

Nancy congrats on being the Indy rep. The Silverados are going to The Atlantic tourny in Virginia this week. Some of these tournaments are kind of close together. Terry

Discussion: Portable Batting Screen

Just got our Pitch Safe Screen yesterday. The funny part is the video they show. Sets up in 25 seconds and they show a young lady walking off with it. This thing is actually pretty heavy! One strong broad! Anyway go to Dicks and see if they have a golf screen. Seen one a couple years ago and it set up huge. Then folded down to 3-4 feet. LOL

Guess mine is a little different, at 61 I still go 3 days a week doing Karate. Great for the mind and body. And we do the whole gambit Judo Kobudo Aiki Jitsu and Kendo. Give it a try! Really stretches you out. (I think the young guys have a pool going on how long I can keep going before I drop dead) They give everyone a nickname mine is "Moses"

einstein, It is obvious that you are intelligent. That said you could have a lot to offer softball. You just need to not write such long threads and realize that most players just have little problems and a very short attention span. That and most really dont care what the tournament directors do. If it turns out things are not to our liking everyone will just quit. There is a whole world out there without playing softball. Terry Ohio Silverados

Gentlemen, We are so lucky to have this huge web site to exchange ideas. In one swift move it could be gone. Then what would you whine and cry about? We are at an age that just being able to play is a gift from God. Our whole country is in a state of flux. A lot of players next year will have to decide if they can afford to go on the road. Bickering and in fighting are not options. Senior Softball should be a gentlemans game, good sportsmanship and meeting players, maybe friends for life. We could end up without all this. In our area softball in the younger groups is almost gone. Umpires dont want to listen to all the complaining. Lets not go the way of bowling and fastpitch, lets keep strong and try to get along. It is up to us. Terry, Ohio Silverados

Message to Gary 19/Dirty or whatever you call yourself this week. Do you spend all your time ripping people on the computer? I know you and I know you were a pretty good pitcher at one time. Why not start playing competetive ball? We figure out which tournaments to go to in Jan. Never know who or how many teams that will be there. It is always a shot in the dark. But it is still softball and despite all the problems a whole lot of guys still go. Some just want to play and enjoy the competition. I am Terry McClaskey Manager Ohio Silverados. Get in the game Gary, the time is coming when we wont be able to play and that will be a great loss for all of us.

Discussion: A Question for all teams

Response to Mad Dog - The Major Plus are really great players. It is really too bad that there are not more of them. But you see a lot of players like to play senior softball. Most dont have the skills to play Major+ My team is a AA and every time we take the field we play as hard as any team. We dont have the big hitters or home run guys. But what we have is the respect of every team we play. The thing to remember there are way more average players then superstars. Without the average guys you would be hard pressed to have any tournament. The rings are OK but my guys play for each other. We have practice shirts that say "count on me" With us it is all about team. No egos. Fines for throwing bats and cussing. We pray together after every game. Probably sounds corny to the big time players but winning isnt everything, competing is. But you guys are amazing how far you hit the ball. LOL Terry McClaskey Mgr Ohio Siverados AA

Duke, You sound pretty upset with the SSUSA management. Maybe you should start a new National Softball organization and show everyone how to do it right. My team would play. Anybody else? Terry Ohio Silverados

Discussion: Disparaging remarks and remarkers (historical footnote)

SSUSA Staff, Thank you. This board should be for positive encouragement for everyone. I read it everyday. Many people comment about the messages but only a few write or post. We are very lucky to still be playing softball as seniors. To have an organization as strong as SSUSA is a lot of hard work by just a few people. Just a thought, if they were gone tomorrow would the complainers pick up the slack? Would anyone be there to save a life? They do plenty, try to be positive. Thanks guys, there are a lot more out there that are glad you do what you feel is fair to the majority. Terry The Ohio Silverados

Guys! How many games did most teams get to play? The Ohio Silverado 55s played in only 3 games. (we did hit one homerun) So at 1-2 we headed back 440 miles. Not a good return. I have never complained about a tournament but it all should be the same for every team. Terry

Has anyone bought a Senior Geezer Bat? If so is it worth buying? Also our team played in Lansing Mich and one of the players died on the field. Anyone have any info? Our thoughts go out to the family. Terry Ohio Silverados

Discussion: Team Coaches Get No Respect

I want to wish Bill Allen the best of luck. I stepped down as the manager this year after 6 years on the JOB. The messages that have been posted are really on the money. The problem is always a few guys that dont buy into the team concept. You really need 14-15 players to play in a 3 day tournament but the guys only worry about playing every inning of every game. Cant be done! By the 5th or 6th game the legs are gone and the team wears down but no one wants to come out - it is a TEAM game. If everyone really put aside all the ego stuff travel softball could be the greatest rush ever. Just try to remember we are lucky to still be able to play. Thanks to all the guys that manage, without you guys there wouldnt be any senior ball. LOL Terry McClaskey Ohio Silverados
