Discussion: What is 400 feet....

If 400 ft is not uncommon in Major plus. Why are they not playing on larger fields? Seems like a joke for them to play on the avg. 300 foot field.

Webbie: Drillers 60's did get moved to majors even though it is there 1st year in 60's. The team has been revamped since several of the players stayed 55. They picked up about 4-5 AA players to get the team started. Bu

What I have a hard time figuring is how the Drillers 55 and Spurs 50 got moved to majors. they really haven't won anything. The Drillers did win SW Championship and I don't remember the Spurs only in their second year winning anything. I won't even go into the Desperado and Rio Grande 55 AAA situation

Concessions should be made for these types of situations. The weather report stated 100% chance of rain for Sat. I am suprised the bracket didn't start on Friday night. there were actually awards given for 1st-3rd and a TOC bids. These are the types of decisions that are one of the reasons I have bypassed TOC tourneys for the past 3 yrs. I dragged myself out of a sick bed with the flu to help my team that was short-handed. On the bright side I did get to hang out with some buddies I haven't hung out with in a while. Such is life

The tourney was cancelled on Saturday due to rain. My understanding is the City of Tucson cancelled it based on a policy of not using overly wet fields. Rio Grande 55's won the 55 division based on being 2-0 in pool play. They did beat JFF in pool play

G1 I played against you guys quite often when I played left field for the Sportsline Bulls 50's. I always like the competitive games. But the most important thing was how your team always handled yourselves with class. Class, competitiveness, comaradery the 3 C's of senior softball and you guys cover them all.

Good point A133, I will be playing in the 55 division and championship game will be at 12:30. Coming from Las Cruces it is still early enough to get home at a decent hour. I hope they don't make the pool games 50 mins.

I guess this 50 Cal would be good for the winter and bp w/o losing much pop. I found them for $100 NIW

My team now plays at 9:30 instead of 8:30. I am glad for that move. I hate playing early morning in the cold. When I waas there in December for a tourney we played at 8:30 and brrrr. I always take my USSSA bats for the cold weather games.

Please no more changes to the game. Here's a cure for AAA HR rule. Don't hit more than 3. If you or your team can move the hell up.

Now I see how you got the name Big Cat. lol It's quite a delemna. In our league of 18 senior teams. We have enough talent to make a major team. But it appears most of the guys prefer AAA. I know some of them are very capable to play major and even major plus. but, as Webbie and you have stated what do you do when the opportunities do not present themselves. My options has been play with the kids, play with my buddies or not play at all.

Webbie: I hear ya. If I happen to walk my teammates start making comments like. "I thought Tony was at bat, who is that guy taking a walk." lol I was in Rio Rancho for Christmas visiting my daughters and grandkids. Froze my butt off. I have definitely acclamated myself to southern NM. We are still playing our league. You should come down some weekend get some cuts before Tucson. League plays Sat. the 12th and 19th in the NE complex on McCombs in El Paso. Games start at 9am it might be to hot for you temp will be in the 40's. :)

Discussion: Out after 3 Home Runs

This is what the 3rd thread on this topic. Sandbagging teams and players and hitting up the middle, when HR's are used up. big cat7: I do agree that rules should be different based on age and level. The 50's AA, AAA, Major and Major plus shouls have different HR rules. The 60's should also be different than 70's. Since it is tough to find Major and Major Plus teams to play on for some people. This is a good way for older players to play down and stay competitive.
Some of us still play with the oung guys for that competitive rush. Seniors is enjoyable because of the lack of BS and trash talking involved.
The bottom line and reality in all this discussion is. Guys are going to play SSUSA no matter what the rules are. It is nice to have these and other discussions but does it really matter.
One question is "What criteria is used to judge a player is a sandbagger".

Happy New Year

Discussion: New Years Resolutions

First I would like to say Happy New year and may God bless and protect all my senior brothers in the upcoming year and beyond. We all know it is that time of year ro make resolutions whether we are going to stick to them or not. lol
The one thing I would like to do is to go to more senior tourneys this year and enjoy the company of my fellow seniors. Maybe, meet, have a beer and talk with guys from this board. Put a face to the name. Continue to tell my wife everyday that I love her. Not sweat the little things and enjoy what God has given me. A loving wife, great kids and grandkids, awesome friends and good health.
