Discussion: cold weather bats

I just played in a scrimmage game here in southern NM where it is usaully very comfortable. The temps were in the low 30's with the wind chill. Most of us brought out our USSSA bats to use. A couple of guys actually used their Combat Centenarians. I was shocked the bats did not crack at all. I would never use a senior bat in these types of temps. In fact, I didn't even take out my gamer USSSA bat. These guys either lucked out or the Centenarian is a duarble bat.

Discussion: USA U2 snapped

The player swinging the bat is about 6'1" and 210. Not big by any means compared to some of the guys I've seen in senior ball. I have to agree with Crusher as well. I can't see how anything but a defect would cause a bat to snap at the handle. It was fortunate we were in a cage and not on a field where the bat could have nailed someone.
I'm going to have him take pics so we can show people in Prescott this weekend. It's a clean break.

Discussion: USA U2 snapped

Gentlemen: I was taking bp yesterday and a teamamtes USA U-2 snapped at the handle. This bat was NIW when he started hitting. it could not have been more than the 20th swing. We used senior trumps and classic M's for bp. I have never seen this before with a composite, has anyone else.

Discussion: NEED A GOOD UTRIP BAT

I play alot more U-trip than senior ball so have ried many bats. If your league doesn't require the new stamp go with the OG Freak or OG CNT +. They can be found used for about $120 to $160 don't go any higher on message board at a site I don't think we can mention. If the new stamp is required go with the Worth WSE it is a max load but swings light. Mine drops serious bombs. They go NIW for $229 right now with a warranty. Others I have swung that have great pop and distance are the balanced 2012 Easton Salvo comp 100, 2012 Easton Stealth 100 (hard to come by) but can be found used, The slight EL 2013 Miken freak plus and Balanced 2012 Louisville Z2000. good luck lots of choices. If you can to try these bats before buying one it would be great.

Discussion: What is 400 feet....

If 400 ft is not uncommon in Major plus. Why are they not playing on larger fields? Seems like a joke for them to play on the avg. 300 foot field.

Discussion: Reclassifying Teams

Webbie: Drillers 60's did get moved to majors even though it is there 1st year in 60's. The team has been revamped since several of the players stayed 55. They picked up about 4-5 AA players to get the team started. Bu

What I have a hard time figuring is how the Drillers 55 and Spurs 50 got moved to majors. they really haven't won anything. The Drillers did win SW Championship and I don't remember the Spurs only in their second year winning anything. I won't even go into the Desperado and Rio Grande 55 AAA situation

Concessions should be made for these types of situations. The weather report stated 100% chance of rain for Sat. I am suprised the bracket didn't start on Friday night. there were actually awards given for 1st-3rd and a TOC bids. These are the types of decisions that are one of the reasons I have bypassed TOC tourneys for the past 3 yrs. I dragged myself out of a sick bed with the flu to help my team that was short-handed. On the bright side I did get to hang out with some buddies I haven't hung out with in a while. Such is life

The tourney was cancelled on Saturday due to rain. My understanding is the City of Tucson cancelled it based on a policy of not using overly wet fields. Rio Grande 55's won the 55 division based on being 2-0 in pool play. They did beat JFF in pool play

G1 I played against you guys quite often when I played left field for the Sportsline Bulls 50's. I always like the competitive games. But the most important thing was how your team always handled yourselves with class. Class, competitiveness, comaradery the 3 C's of senior softball and you guys cover them all.

Good point A133, I will be playing in the 55 division and championship game will be at 12:30. Coming from Las Cruces it is still early enough to get home at a decent hour. I hope they don't make the pool games 50 mins.

My team now plays at 9:30 instead of 8:30. I am glad for that move. I hate playing early morning in the cold. When I waas there in December for a tourney we played at 8:30 and brrrr. I always take my USSSA bats for the cold weather games.
