| Jan. 3, 2013 cutty | Topic: Bats Discussion: Number 2 hitter If the lead off hitter is important, what about the number two hitter. The lead off hitter is not known for power, so the guy behind him can jump start the offense by putting runs on the board with a quick blast or extra base, or keeping it going for the next batter in the order. In senior ball it is important to score early. Your thoughs. I,ve seem some great number two hitters in the game. |

| Nov. 19, 2012 cutty | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Update from USSSA National Convention The Middle of the field is like any other part of the field. If you place a net during tournament play, you have reduced the game. I do understand about the safety part of the game, but most picthers can wear protective gear on let,s play on. I don,t hink this will help attract more senior teams. I think you should take the game to the people. I,ll been playing senior ball for eight years, and i have never had a USSSSA tournament my back door. I know it takes work to get this done. 6 hr,s drive time verses, leaving on thursday and returning on sunday night. This may attract more teams. i guess the pool games or neccessary for seating, but take a survey and see what the players want. It,s senior ball. |

| Sept. 27, 2011 cutty | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: 55 major plus in vegas I had a chance to play in this tournament, and it was the most competitive tournament of the year. There was lot,s of offense, but that was a lot of great defensive plays, that were game changers. One thing I can say is (12 HR,s, One up and a single) gave the players a mine set of free swinging and that make the game at this level enjoyable. Congratulations to all the teams. |

| Jan. 26, 2009 cutty | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Home Run Rule Hello softballers!! Some teams depend on their home runs to compensate for their defense, or speed. If you check the run ratio(runs aloud vs runs scored) of certain teames you would know what i mean. This home run rule would make mangers rebuilt or restructure their teams. Soft ball is suppose to be a fun game. Any balls over the fence that is an out is like taking away the dunk in basketball. Some can some can,t. At lease mak it a single, let the big boys swing away. This still want guarantee a victory for the Major plus teams. Try it first before it is sit in stone. Guess you wondering if i,m a Major plus player. Yes i am. have been since day one (5 years). Now i may be forced to change my approach to the game, because i think hr every timei go to the plate. Not that i can hit it out everytime, but the mental approach is what makes major plus what it is. |
| Dec. 22, 2008 cutty | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: RULE CHANGES...COMMENTS He is my two cents, I agree with combining the two divicions, but the HR rules need to be 5 a and a single. A home rule hitter likes the fact that he can swing away, that is their mine set. The reson senior softball was better that the young ball was because of the very fact. Our equipment is better so let us use it. Another thing, the young guys just turning 50 would allso like the fact that they can swing away. I watch softball all the time, and It just do not agree with me to see so many player cutting down on the swing to hit seed throught he in field. That is a part of the game, but so it Home Runs. I know it,s tough making rules and trying to keep the game growing, but remember everybody does not have the same talent level, but don,t take the bat out of one hand because he maybe be a little stronger. If so, let,s play all singles out of the park. Good luck with what ever you come up with. |
| Nov. 5, 2008 cutty | Topic: Bats Discussion: Macenko Combat vs. gray combat So ther is a break in period for this new Combat. How is it better? The feel of the bat, the balls comes off different. Hit with more power. Larger sweet spot.. Would like to know. |
