I can't imagine making a decision on the basis of not wanting to play a team. It might be a bit of work for Staff to track though.

Discussion: Not Pleased with Rating System

Hi Renegade12 - have played against your team and also watched you play lots of ball. You guys have a very good club and are fun to play as you always bring a good game. You will do well at M.

Chico - You did not say what the name of your team was but top 5 in Reno is pretty good by any standard considering how many teams were in the 60 AAA division in 2012. I thought that the top 8 teams in Reno including our team could all compete at M and any one of the top 8 in Reno could easily have won that tournament. Same goes for the teams at the Worlds in Vegas.

I also think SSUSA could move a lot more teams up to Major to make it a more interesting division to play in. AAA is a very strong division.

Just my $0.02

Discussion: Message Board Good for Senior Ball

What a good move by SSUSA years ago to set up the use of this message board for senior softball players. There are always so many good topics and discussions. To be able to openly discuss rules and related nuances has to add clarity to all who read the board, as I often do. I have gained some valued insight over the years from reading posts and even made a few friends.

I think your onto something there Don. I got a new U-trip bat this year for play in Canada and am curious to see how good it will get with use during the year.

Discussion: survey

p.s. With two strikes a batter should be hitting more to the middle so I think a courtesy foul on the 3rd strike is a good idea as it does not force a batter away from pulling a ball and hitting middle.

1/1 count is worth a try and I agree with MadDog, courtesy runners not being available have an impact in slowing the game down. They should be available immediately or not allowed to run. Players in the dug out should be able to make a determination of who can run before the batter ever get's to first base.

Just an observation here but Umpires also seem to spend a lot of time keeping score.

Our team enjoy the Rock ball as it stays consistent, it flies just as well at 100* as in 75* heat. It is much easier to hit a 44/375 ball out of the park in Reno or Denver at 95* temperature than most other Cities.

Discussion: AAA Home Run Outs

SSUSA got it right. Teams that hit 3+ should be outs. If you can't keep it in the yard switch to a 9 iron. Also, there is never an excuse to hit it up the middle as there are lots of gaps to aim for. Middle shots happen by accident.

Good point on the ball LP. Seen a lot of HR's in Vegas Worlds at 60 AAA with the Rock and at Major in Phoenix during the Winter Worlds this year very few by any of the teams. By the way we like the Rock as it stays consistently good. Even at 100* the ball was as good as at 75*.

Overall, I like the changes and amendments to the rules.

Congratulations go out to Top Gun who won the 60 Major at the Winter Worlds in Phoenix. Very strong team, solid at all positions with a bunch of classy guys playing on that club.
