Discussion: Any team going to Reno need 2 outfielders in the 70 age group

2 friends from central Cal looking 2 join a 70 team in Reno. My wife thinks I'm a good hitter, but we are willing to try out.

I am 72 and broke this years model in 170 swings. I emailed demarini and they said the warranty was only 30 days, and it took them 10 days to email me back.

Discussion: Steve Imlay hitting clinic

Thanks Steve for the clinic in San Clemente. It reinforced all the things I have learned that have improved my hitting over the last couple of years.

Discussion: Your opinion on best Senior Bat

I have hit about 10 different senior bats in the last year. The best ones for me have been

1.Miken Ultra II Black 2016 27.oz broke after 1000 swings
2.4 Reebok Melee 26.oz broke 2 after 1200 swings, 2 are still going after 1200+ swings.
3.2 Dudley Lightning's 27oz. 12"EL 1 broke after 4300 hits, 1 is still going after 1700 hits.

I have also hit a 2015 Demarini One 26oz.el. 1000 swings before it broke, and a gray and black worth legit 27oz.

The rating's were on pop.

Discussion: Can you get faster?

HJ you can get faster. I'm pretty fast for a 67 year old and I'm starting a program running sprints on a slight decline. I'll let you know how it goes. Phil Campbell a senior sprinter has done a lot of writing on this subject.

Look into Phil Campbell's Sprint 8 workouts on youtube. You do 8 sprints from 20 to 30 seconds in 20 minutes. It builds fast twitch muscle fiber. I have been doing this workout 3 times a week for a year now, as well as some p90x workouts every week. I think I am near the fitness level I was as a college sprinter.

It was a fun tournament, and there was quality competition all through the 50 and 55 division{combined}. The outfield on the east field is really poor.

I am doing well Taits. I'm an all-star in tee-ball. The radar units are $85-$100 all over the internet.

Discussion: Swing Speed Radar?

I use the radar to monitor my bat speed during tee work, also when doing the Macenko drills I use it for instant feedback on how fast each swing is. From week to week you can see the improvement in batspeed. You just need to continually take batting practice to keep your timing sharp.

Discussion: Floyd Lewelling 65

Floyd Lewelling who was a major player 10 years ago, in the 50 and 55 divisions has been working out with us recently. He can play pitcher or first base. His hitting has really come around in the last two weeks, and he is hitting 320' bombs. If you have played with Floyd in the past, or are interested in a great hitter for a 65+ team, please give him a call. Floyd Lewelling 1-805-4661844

If they allow the good bats, and use decent balls, who cares who is behind it.
