Mario, I just now saw the brackets for the St. Louis tournament. Did your OKI team drop out at the last minute?

Discussion: TOC Qualification Question

To the SSUSA staff: If only one team rated major plus is entered in a tournament and is combined in to a platinum division with major teams in the same age division using the equalizer rules, does the major plus team recieve an automatic TOC birth?

The 50 major plus division is not rotating this year. It is scheduled to play at the same place it did last year - Grayhawk Park.

Discussion: Grayhawk Park

Very few teams 'rated' major plus in the 50 division can hit their limit of 10 home runs on a 325 foot fence, especially when factoring in hitting in to the wind and sun. The key word there is rated. Playing on fields that size puts even more of a difference between the teams that can and those that can't. Playing on a 300 foot fence somewhat levels the playing field a little more in this division.

kbl - Last year I was told we would not have to play there again 2 years in a row.

Too much money and too little competition in this one to make it worth while.

I have always been told that divisions will be rotated to different complexes each year. This will be the second year in a row that the 50 major plus division is scheduled to play at Grayhawk. SSUSA staff, please explain why. I'm pretty what your reasoning on this subject will be, but would prefer to hear your reply.

You can find them on e-bay, usually via an auction, ($180 - $230) depending on the condition.

The TOC is hardly worth the time when it boils down to playing a best 2 out of 3 against the only other team in your division. Only two 50+ major plus teams is a poor turnout. It's also difficult for our team to win in pool games against major division teams when we have to spot 5 runs, especially when we haven't been practicing in 3 months. We are not in the top of the food chain in the major plus division. I for one think major and major plus should be combined in to one division with no run spotting. I'm not making excuses for our team's poor performance. It's just not a tournament that suits our team very well for a number of reasons.

We had not played or praciced since the SSWC back in October. We were missing several key players and the weather here is not conducive to practicing outdoors between Novembver and April.

wagon487 must have been referring to the 55 major divsion instead of the 50 major division.

It all depends on whether or not the SSUSA office considers that person to be what they deem as an 'impact' player.

Thanks Boog. It will be nice to get away from the sub-zero weather and the snow, even though it will be for just a few days. I'm not exactly looking forward to the stiffness and soreness that will follow after having not played or practice in 4 months.
