Discussion: Why Do Some Guys Lose It Sooner

In a class given by Larry Wier, the Fitness director at the Johnson Space Center he explained that as we get elderly our fat% increases and our muscle% decreases. So we become weaker eventhough our weight stays the same. Webbie25 what did Fred bench at 25? What will he bench at 75? I'm happy you're still giving it a go.

HJ, I do know eye black won't make us stronger.

Discussion: EYE BLACK

HJ, Ceres was the first asteroid discovered by man. It was seen using the telescope at the Palermo Sicily Observatory. I was there in 2000 for the 200th anniversary.Ergo I picked Ceres as my handle.

jsheeran, as a contact wearer you need more protection because of the contacts effect on your eyes. When I wore them, I always wore sunglasses on sunny days.
So you're a special case.

Discussion: EYE BLACK

HJ,
I agree with your words about trying new things to see what works, but so many of us just do it for style and to look like Major Leaguers. You can see many gagets in senior softball which make us look like Little Leagers copying MLB rather than the elderly men we are. Eye black does not work for me and I have blue eyes. If you look at Harper of the Washington Nats he wears it as a fashion statement to look fierce in order to scare the pitcher.I did get a lot out of your reply.

Discussion: EYE BLACK

I don't think eye black helps at all. I thik we are sold a bill of goods by MBL,NFL and NCAA. Do you notice that some of thse players wear eye black like Tonto in the new Lone Ranger movie. I even see some of us outfitted in war paint also. It's time we grew up.

Discussion: Heart of Texas (Georgetown)

TxTran, Joe's team were champions. He thought the tournament was great.I played 70+. Even with all the problems we had, if we won the championship, I'd think the tournament was great even though it wasn't.

Jawood, If a pitcher throws fewer pitches in a game with a time limit, then more innings will be played in that game. A 1-1 starting count ensures that less pitches will be thrown. GI did the arithmetic in his post of Dec. 5th.

I play in 2 leagues with a 0 - 0 starting count and a 55 min time limit. We almost never play a 7 inning game. In Past seasons I played in a league with a 1 - 1 starting count and a 55 min time limit, and we almost always played 7 innings. A 1 - 1 starting count would be good for us and would have been good for the SSUSA.

Discussion: Why so few AA teams

A question was asked by Boston at the begining of this thread, "Why are there so few AA teams?" It was answered vey clearly by DCPete. All the other jibberish had nothing to do with the question. Let's go on to a different subject.

Discussion: Texas Half Century tounaments

The 65 and 70 divisions had only 3 teams. After playing each other several times, the Greyhounds 70 AAA finished 1st. The Texas Classics 70 AA finish 2nd and the Greyhounds 65 AA finished 3rd. Therefore the 70 AAA Greyhounds won the 70 AAA Prize. The Texas Classics won the 70 AA Prize and the 65 AA Greyhounds won the 65AA prize. It was like the Special Olympics. Everyone got a prize.

Discussion: Best website for titanium necklaces?

I believe that most of these so call aids are mental aids or fashion. Most athletes are followers. Basketball players wear compression shorts and compression sleves. In past times no one wore these and they played just as well, but after one player started wearing them they all followed. Now #6 wears a titanium necklace and it helps him in many ways, but he believes it helps him and therefore it does. Baseball and softball players are very superstitious and sometime it helps them if they do silly things.

Discussion: Is winning the most important thing?

Gary, What kind of a comeback is that. Let me put it into other words. Two teams play a good close game . Afterwards some of them get together to talk about the game and socialize. Everyone has a good experience. Is that OK?

Discussion: Border Battle

Cal50, That announcer demonstrated he didn't have the knowledge to make that statement. To show his limitations, he called a 123 half inning for USA yet the 1st batter got a hit and was left on 1st base so it wasn't a 123 half inning. Also when USA was rallying the batter hit a routine fly to center and this announcer called it a home run right when it left the bat.
In my opinion, announcers are unnecessary most of the time and this one was unneccessary all of the time.

Discussion: Slowpitch, US National team vs US Futures team on ESPN2 at 8:00pm or ES2HD

Everyone that's responded to this thread knows slow pitch softball well enough that it makes no difference who the announcers are. The only thing we need to know from an announcer is the name of the batter, his position in the order, and his fielding position. The television tells us just about every thing we need to know.

Those viewers who don't know slow pitch, won't realize Beth's mistakes and furthermore won't watch very long.

Gary, your reply bothered me. I thought we were buddies.
You never answered my simple questions. You just generated a smoke screen of BS. I refuse too exchange ideas with a self designated big guy. Also when did someone ask you to name volunteers to go anywhere? What's more, let Wayne37 answer for himself. I'm sure he's capable.

In your opinion, Gary, and you don't know enough to make a statement like exponetially higher and no point then and still none. What if Queen Isabella didn't fund Columbus' Expedition. Do you know that? What's the ROI for Obamacare going to be? Do you know that?

ROI? Return on Investment, I suppose. Small people think exploring the unknown to make it known should be tied to a monetary return. Are you one of those, Gary?

Throw more $s on the War on Povery which is a 47 year disaster rather than Space which has been a success.

Why are you bugging me anyway? I was trying to help Wayne37 out. You don't need the help because you know so much.

Discussion: Congress

Wayne 37, I gave Lecak my opinion, then you out of the blue refer to me as Pathetic. Don't I have a right to an opinion.
You made fun of Gingrich for his stance on a Moon Colony. You don't have enough background to make fun of a person favoring a Moon Colony. So here's some background.
It took 8 years from JFK's speech til a Man was put on our Moon. A moon colony should have been built then and exploration to other planets should have been done like other great explorations (Columbus, Vasco de Gamma, Lewis and Clark etc) which resulted in great things. But little men in government decided to spend all the extra money on welfare. Now when Gingrich promotes a Moon Colony, small men again giggle.
Hope this helps.

Lecak,
You wrote, "We ended up with the wrong Bush". To be correct, you should have written...In my opinion, we ended up with the wrong Bush. I think W was right.

In my opinion, I can't understand why you people from Las Vegas vote for Harry Reid when the rest of Nevada oposes him, and in my opinion he's terrible.

I am net a heavy hitter, and I never have broken a U2. Only two of my U2's have broken, and that's when I let 2 heavy hitters use them. So if you're a heavy hitter either use another bat or find lot of money.

Gary, I don't know what you mean by my foolish treading.

On the other hand, it is very clear we have different opinions which I agree we each should honor.

You think Obama is prefered over any of the GOP candidates. I prefer any GOP candidate over Obama. There is no sense to try to convince each other differently.

Gary, it took me a long time to come up with something simple enough that you would understand. I finally was successful.
