Discussion: So who won the 50 Major in Dalton?

2awesom,
Thank you for the congrats. Jack played well, ended the championship game with a specticular diving catch. The SPA ran a great tournament and I thought the competition was fierce. Great to see all my friends, Bogie, Einstein, Dutch, Ross, Clatter, Andy, and the rest. Hope all made it home safe. We will be in Manassas.

Discussion: Looking for questions that YOU would like answers to.

Taits,
Unlimited, or at least multiple, substitutions.
Why is baseball/softball the only major sport that restricts a player's ability to enter and leave the game ?
Is five (5) games a fair number for travel tournaments (qualifiers, championships) ?

SSUSA Staff,
Thanks for the stats. That's a great turn out, looking forward to playing and taking a break from the northeast winter weather. I know two teams from NJ are planning on playing if the weather will cooperate and let us out of here. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday.

Discussion: Flared or cone knob ???

Never understood why any of the softball organizations made the flared knob illegal. It certainly doesn't enhance or alter the performance of the bat. I hang two fingers off the end of the bat, I'm a top hand push hitter and it helps me eliminate some of the top spin. I don't use a cone but if it makes you feel more comfortable, why not, no harm, no foul.

Glenn,
Those were some good teams back in the day. What age bracket are you looking to play and what level ?
Used to play DB and Reggie's a lot in my Red Door and Promotion days.

Gentlemen,
Thanks to eveyone for the well wishes, prayers and concerns. As my daughter stated, I have been tested by my own doctors since returning home and received a clean bill of health. It appears my problems were heat (exhaustion and dehydration) related with a suggestion from the doc to watch what and when I eat. Joe Lecak, I remember you, thanks for the compliment, right back at you. Spoke to Snake yesteray, reading MRI's on Tuesday, will keep you posted. BruceinGA, you still have one of the sweetest swings in the game, thanks for the kind words. Time to start practicing again and get ready for the next tournament. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Discussion: Someone Rank the Top Teams in Each Division for me.

Played 50 Major all year, all the championships except ASA. In my opinion Angle Inn was the best until they moved up. My ranking:
1. Angle Inn
2. Road Dogs
3. Roberts Construction
4. Milwaukee Merchants
5. Travel Lodge
Other tough teams included Kittrell Acoustics, Florida Sluggers, The Titans, Seven Softball and the Old Dawgs.
It's very diificult to rank teams because of formats and geographics, some teams are better with the 5 run rule while others are better at regular rules. Some teams travel to all the main events, some only play the local ones. Since I play for Sweet Construction of NJ I didn't rank my own team, we finished 3rd three times this year so we belong in there somewhere. Since there are no national tournaments in the northeast, we have to travel, it was a pleasure to play against all you guys this year and if I left out anyone's team that kidded our butt, I APOLOGIZE. Ridge and Terry run great tournaments, but Plano and Seattle, these plane rides are killing me.

Discussion: Exemptions:

MK39
You had a great team this year, enjoyed playing against your team, enjoyed talking to your players. In reading all the posts recently about borders and exemptions I can understand your frustration. But making accusations about using cheater super freak bats is is unfounded. There are only 2 major plus 50 teams in my area (NJ), NY/CT/MA and Maryland, so our options are limited, besides the fact there probably aren't enough major plus 50 players in those 3 states to form more than one team. I understand your frustation but please take it out on the people who created this situation, not the players who are trying to play softball at it's highest level. Stick to facts, you have a class organization, it's a pleasure competing, have a safe and joyful holiday.
