Discussion: NW Championship in jeopardy

It looks like Oregon is implementing a new policy starting tomorrow prohibiting the assembly of groups of more than 10 people. Sounds like this may put the tournament in jeopardy.

Discussion: Dudley HotW 14” replacement bat

I just received my hot W 14 inch replacement bat from Dudley. The serial number starts with 250. Is there anyone out there who has swung the hot W 14 inch with a serial number that starts with 250. If so, can you provide me with some feedback? Thanks!

Discussion: DUDLEY 2019 LIGHTNING HOTW

I hit my new HotW 14” today. It cracked on the 15th swing. Serial number 1812180209. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have a demo that has more than 500 swings on it with no signs of wear. The bat performs great! Obviously, there is a difference in construction and/or materials in the demo vs. the current shipment of these bats.

Discussion: DUDLEY 2019 LIGHTNING HOTW

In early February I pre-ordered the Dudley hot W 14 inch from elite sports. After discussing my purchase with Carlos he offered to send a demo Dudley HotW 14 inch to me so that I would have it for the TOC in Orlando. I took the bat with me to Orlando and let my team and others swing it to see what they thought. We probably put about 250 swings on it while we were there. After I returned home I probably put another 250 swings on the bat. I live in the north west and obviously the temperatures have been cool. During my BP sessions the temperatures never reached 50 degrees. All I can say is that this bat has held up and exceeded my expectations as far as performance is concerned. It still looks and performs the same as it did when I received it.
I received my new bat from Carlos last week and will take BP with it next week. I am anxious to see the durability and performance of this new bat versus the demo.
I will post the results next week.
Obviously, there is a concern regarding the demo vs. the current shipment I will let everyone know after I have taken BP.

Discussion: face masks

I have seen the results of what a ball traveling over 100mph can do to a plastic mask and a human face. It isn't pretty! 2 years ago I purchased a lacrosse helmet/mask. The mask portion is made of titanium and the helmet has a chin strap to keep everything tightly in place. I wouldn't use anything else.

Let Jose know that the rules in softball are the same as in baseball. If a ball hits you in the head and goes over the fence it is still a 4 base error!LOL

Discussion: West Coast Aftershock -

cal50 - In your comments you are making an assumption that Aftershock did not chill their game balls in any other game prior to the Championship game. I watched their 2 games prior to the Championship game. Balls coming off of their bats had a distinctly different sound and, on average, traveled farther and faster than the other teams. Is that proof positive? No it isn't. But if I was a betting man....
All of the players on their roster, that were participating in the tournament, should be suspended. Whoever is running the team should receive double the penalty.
SSUSA needs to send a message that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. End of story.

Discussion: West Coast Aftershock -

I watched the loser out game between Doerflinger and Aftershock, which Aftershock won. That win enabled them to play in the championship game. The temperature was in the low 90's. Aftershock's number 3 hitter launched a ball which cleared the fence and hit the light standard in left field at least 60 feet above the ground. I wondered how anyone could hit a ball that far given the conditions. I now have my answer.
Every one of these players who are law enforcement should be reported to their agencies. These individuals are accountable for their conduct on and off duty. When you wear a badge you represent your agency 24/7.
I had a 34 year career in law enforcement. These individuals are an embarrassment to the profession.

Thanks Jimmy! We did it the same way that you did last year (through the losers bracket).
If you guys come down to the RAC I'm sure that we will be in the same bracket.
Always fun playing you guys. 4th in your first Major tournament is not a bad showing.

You can also add the Enviro-Vac 65AAA's to your list of Northwest World Champions.

Not bad (5 World Championships)for this little corner of the Country.

Discussion: 70' Bases

I agree with Webbie25. I am in favor of this rule because it helps out the defense. So many of our existing rules (senior bats and lively balls, etc) already favor the offense.

Discussion: More 1-1 Count Talk

Jawood's assessment is correct. Although it is also dependent on what part of the Country you are from. If you live and play in a state where USSSA is prevalent you are used to playing with a 1-1 count. If you played in a state where ASA was the only game in town you probably wouldn't favor a 1-1 count. I am playing in the 60 age group but voted for the 1-1 count because I dislike seeing players stepping in the batters box and taking pitches until they get a strike. It's a hitters game anyway. I would like to see the hitters forced in to being more aggressive at the plate.
The 1-1 count might just help to take away a little of the hitters advantage. Just my opinion.

Discussion: Cure for AAA after 3rd HR!

It's not really a viable solution. It gives too big of an edge to the team with the extra defender. But I like the idea of "thinking outside of the box".

Discussion: Out after 3 Home Runs

big cat7 - There is a Major Plus team based in the Ohio/Kansas area (OKI). You should contact them to see if they need another Bopper. I'm sure that they could use someone who is capable of hitting 15 Home Runs in 25 at bats. They may even be willing to subsidize your travel.

Discussion: Out after 3 Home Runs

big cat7 - I believe that if you took a pole of all senior players under the age of 60 and asked them if they would rather play in a single division with no Home Run limits or would rather have it remain as it is, you would get an overwhelming number of players voting for it to stay as it is.
BTW - If you are hitting balls 350 foot you should be playing Major Plus and this whole discussion would be pointless for you.
