Bruce: thanks for the info on Wayne; gave him a call; he would be a good fit for our Columbus 55 team. The 55 coach is going to call him & work out some details.

The 55 team is a AAA team & I checked the IP List & did not see him on there; does he qualify to play AAA?

Southpaw: you hit the nail on the head on the recipe; did exactly that; used some Lefty Cajun Spice, oil & slow cooked for 30 minutes; wish I could have saved you a piece, but you know.............When I started eating,, I plum forgot your name.... Senior Moment I guess!!!

Next batch: eggs, corn meal, little flour, buttermilk, zesty italian dressing, lemon pepper & garlic batter: cook slow then add some lemon juice.

Better get started!!!!!!!!

Somedays are awesome!!!
Started fishing about 5 yesterday with chicken gizzards (had livers, but they were taking them off of the hook); 1 1/2 hours & 2 whole gizzards later I had to stop cause my old rod snapped an eyelet off the end as I pulled in the last one.

Well, all that to say this; 7 catfish; 37 lbs on the scale; largest one was 29" long!!!!

OK, I am bragging a little, sorry; now for the real deal; you old timers (guys or gals) give me some recipes!!!

Good feedback: I hit most of the balls on a line, so only a few got any air underneath.

I had been thinking about the White Combat, but I do not like the smaller knob.

My Original Veloes were like that; took about 4-500 swings & they were good to Launch.

Will give an update ASAP.

Broke my last 510 Lauch; used 2 since 07; have an Original ASA U2; but decided to add another Senior Bat; so I purchased a 30 oz Black Centenarian.

Hit BP with it twice; about 60 balls total; hits about the same distance as my Demarini Dbl Wall 30 oz; that's around 300-305' with balls I got from Bill G of AMI back in 06. My Miken 585 outhits it; after ALL that jargon; does this model take a long time to break in?

Discussion: Talking Trash

Trash Talking:
Told my wife I could cook better than her; McDonald's $1.00 hamburgers are getting monotonous.

Told her I knew how to run a house better than her: so now I get to run the vacuum, oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer.

Told my wife that she had some qualities that I did not like; she told me it was because of those qualities that she did not get a better looking/richer husband.

Told my employer that I knew how to run a company better than him; unemployment benefits do not pay near what I was making under his employment.

I play on a team that we are always cutting up & semi-gouging each other, but never are we trash-talking each other down.

Senior Softballers should be over that junk: I will NEVER play with a trash-talker; there's enough junk in the media & in everyday life, that I will not tolerate it when I take my time & money to attend SSball Tourneys.

Mentioning Ali: I think Frazier went to his grave thinking about all the bad things that Ali said about him. I pick Frazier anyday.

BTW: If you believe in trash-talking try it out on your wife, kids & grandchildren & then see if anyone remembers you on Father's Day, BDay or Christmas.

GaCMan; I picked that up; knew what you were talking about; these great guys will compete; but you are correct, would not be much more expense for the 55AAA Trophy.

BTW: what an incredible performance by GaCMan & his team; about 3-4 players could not make it, but they kept their heads up & contended.

PS Praises, accolades to Ronnie W; the ump @ Pensy with cancer that many of us gathered around last year & prayed with; GREAT report; has to report for a checkup in regards to his PAST cancer problems in a YEAR. Well worth the trip to get that info.

I know GaCMan well: in NO way would he cheat or allow anyone on his team to cheat; so I can reaffirm that he has no one on his team that cheats & we played together last year & there was no one that cheated on that team.

I do not bet, but that is one bet I would make.

Discussion: Knee(s) Replacement

Question: did you have severe muscle pains in your calves, outer calves, lower thighs (about 6" above knee downward) & ankles before the knee replacement? So severe that it keeps you awake at night.

I have these pains in which ALL specialists that I have visited: heart, hemo, sleep, ortho have not been able to put a finger on.

I take no medications, no physical issues (overweight), cholesterol 11 points high; no sugar issues..........total puzzlement!!!

Discussion: Knee(s) Replacement

Talked to an old friend Joe this past weekend @ Montgomery Al who had both knees replaced & he highly recommended it.

We discussed how that we could be walking & our knees & legs would give out & we would go towards the floor; both had a good laugh about getting old. BTW: Joe is a monster size of a guy & takes care of himself.

He recommended to hold off as long as possible; rehab was tough.

For those of you that have had replacement, please give your experience. Length of recovery, down time from work; etc. Do you recommend it?

Also, indicate whether you had one or both replaced; both at same time?? (do not know if they perform this or not)

Thanks

Discussion: SPA Montgomery

Participated in this tourney this past weekend; I am not "promoting" the SPA on this site, just wanting to give a couple of observations about SSBall.

Columbus, Ga has a 60 & a 55 team; when we got to Mont. we found out there were only 2/55 teams in the tourney, I immediately felt bad about that number cause I do not remember in 12 years of that number being that low.

Someone later informed me that there were 15/50 teams (great turnout) so that gave me a renewed hope that we have fresh seniors coming up & maybe the reason that the 55 tally was so low was due to other reasons.

Someone in the upper ages maybe able to comment on the number of teams in that age group.

Discussion: Rule change Interaction

Gary: I have stated it many times; but the power of the vote is what computes.

Today: A Player Poll might be taken: it may give us exactly what we have at the present; but according to multiple threads on this board, the CR needs to be visited & other rules; but we are only talking about 1%(guessing) of ALL of SSball Players that thread this board..

Example: If there are 400(just guessing) teams that attend the Las Vegas Tourney X 15 players that= 6000 votes. That is just one example. How many SSbal players overall; 10K???

I have ideas; you have ideas; but the majority does not vote on the rules; a Player Poll would accomplish that or team coaches that have amalgamated the total team concepts on what needs to voted on (would take LESS time).

How do I know that my thoughts will be projected @ the SSball Summit? I cannot afford to go to the SSummit!!! I do not know of anyone that I have played with in the last 12 years that has gone; w/the exception of 2-3 coaches. On-line Player Polls would cut the SSummit expense.

I know a lot of passive players that have great ideas that would not tell an AD or a TD their thoughts, but would tell their coaches or would eeeeeee their thoughts to the associations.

Send out a poll; give the players or coaches 2 weeks to respond w/their thoughts of rules change; then consolidate the changes & then proceed w/a PPoll.

The time to do this is in the OFF season (for 2012)& not during the season.

Not trying to tread on your thread, but we are ALL a union & the majority needs to speak.

PS Don't change the CR too much or I'll have to sit @ home LOL!!!!!.

Discussion: Ever Been Personally Polled

No elaboration necessary unless you want too.

Indicate the number of years you have played SSball:
Average number of Tourneys that you played per year:
How many times has an AD or TD ask for your personal opinion about rules?

I have played since 99
10+ Tourneys a year= 120+ Tournaments
Cost: have no clue
I have NEVER been personally polled about the rules, think that SPA had a Poll a couple of years back, but None other.

Here's a point: a poll may be taken & we may be at the same point that we are today, but at least we would know that it is a declaration of the majority!!!

Discussion: Who Cares About the Rules?!

Steve: I care about the rules, but..........the point is valid about the cost. Would be more pleasant if I knew that the Majority of Tourney players had been polled to make the rules.

My guess is that most guys average $300+ dollars a weekend; according to distance traveled!!!

Discussion: Rules of the Game-Love them

Simpler Solution to the Player Poll:
If mass eeees are too much a problem or too expensive or too time consuming then;
Take every current manager & every new manager; get them to eee all of his rostered team & find out what they want in SSball; then the team votes as opposed to ALL the players; would more consolidate the voting.

Give the team managers 2 weeks to respond; after that, their vote is null. Send all the amendments, changes or whatever to the respected associations. I have NEVER had an AD or TD in 12 years to ask me what needs to be changed; the minority is speaking!!

I am tired & I am sure others are of the constant threads discussing this that or the other, when these topics could be eliminated by a POLL.
