Gary 19 , why don't you take your weak bat and small balls and play elsewhere , you are a contrarian and I can prove it ! You love your ego and it shows , just like your slip! You rarely acknowlegde those that reach out to you in conversation , humor is foreign to you, you seem to have no life , which leads me to beleive you just want to cause contraversey and put down the Game we enjoy playing. I am not a Major+ player , but as stated in the past support the improved equipment and am privileged to continue to play this game with it. I also, enjoy the invention of electricity , the the x-ray machine ,or should I just live in the dark and play with broken bones that could be tended to? So grab yourself and leave us the Hell alone ! Pricer you may defend him as you will ,that is your choice.

Pricer , please note response to Gary 19. Hopefully that will clarify my response to your Thread. But to you I say. I have broken to many Glass House's already , but just like I use the new and improved Senior Equip., I now have a Plexie Glass House. Only problem is that sometimes the ROCK's bounce back and nail my ass ! Oh well, guess I'll start using foam rock's.I did not mean to dimmish your Thread , considering the amount of responses you generated , I was remiss and the fact that I closed out the Thread at 130 responses (sorry) ,I believe your challenge of what fellow player's want to have changed is legimate! So can I take my foot out of my mouth , I am FREAKING , Starving !

Gary 19,First off , thank You for your response , althought I may not agree with you , maybe some clarification is in order.
The words of Fatality Rates was said in jest , and yes as is in any sport deaths can happen because of unsafe equipment . That was not my point. I enjoy the senior equip.& want it to be available for those that choose to use it. My point was that by going to 2 or 3 Divisions you could be endangering those of us who do not have the same abilities as our Major+ Brother's. There are all kinds of reasons why player's cannot compete at the upper divisions , why would you want to erase them by eliminating the Lower divisions. By having the AAA , AA Divisions you expand the pool of player's and keep the Senior Softball Tournaments viable for the Assosciations to stay in business , thereby providing a way for ALL of us to continue to enjoy the game we Love , not the game of eliminating player's. I guess we could all go to WOODEN BAT's and MUSH BALLS , that would make some of you all HAPPY , as we can probably go to 1

Discussion: Change

This just get's OLD. What is it that those on the Board want to change The Senior Game !?
Not the Baseball Game that we all played in our younger years, but a game that has been modififed to accommadate our slower reflexes and weaker eyesite so that we can keep the fatality rate at a reasonable level. Yes , there has been adjustments to keep the game viable for those of us that have aged, God forbid ! If those of you were to prevail and reduce the divisions down to 2 or 3 categories you would lose many teams. Your lack of commonsense is suprising. I am sure that if you thought it completely through you would know that you would hasten the demise of Senior Softball. Most of us play for the Sport of it ! We are not looking to be the best. We try to be the BEST that we can be with whatever limitations we personally have to deal with at whatever level. So now you want to endanger us to prove what ? I like to play with the best equipment that is available , but if the associations are going to follow your lead than I think that I will stick with Rec. Ball in our city leagues to keep life and limb in place. Speaking of Rec. Teams, they do not compare with AA Teams , those of us that are committed to playing Senior Softball Tournaments are the best in the world , no matter the level. I have put together a number of Rec. Teams and Senior AA Teams and Trust me the Rec. Teams at our age do not compare with Senior tournament teams at our age level. So if you have the penchant to beat up on Teams that don't meet your level of competiveness just so you can feed your EGO,then your shortsighness will be your demise.
Duke you would be welcomed to our team if it was allowed. You have earned your well deserved rating , a terrific player and a gentleman to boot ! Martha and I say to you GOOD LUCK at the Worlds.

Discussion: CAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Could it be that with The recent Western Nationals mid-July and The Cal Cup mid-August, that just maybe teams that would be interested in playing both , felt that the cost of 2 Major Tourney's so close together was prohibitive ? It certainly affected our decision. Now if the Cal Cup were held in the above suggested sites. Particularly , Hemet or Temecula(which are in fact very good Ball Fields)we would have Ponyed up the Fees and played. We are a So. Cal. based team which is reflected in this decision.

Discussion: why do we need seeding games

WE use the seeding games to :
1. Get acclimated to the time element of getting there. Luckily we are in so. cal. so not a major time prob.
2. With 5 games we get to play the game we love even if it is "Just Exercise"! Which by the way is as good as any other reason to play.
3. Hopefully we are "ALL" preparing for the Games that COUNT!
4. DARN IT ! IT'S JUST, DOG GONE FUN TO PLAY BALL !

Discussion: Bat Warmers

Thank you for your response Tait. SSUSA , thank you for your clarification , commonsense has prevailed. I felt that the umpire was misinterpeting the rule , but chose not to argue the point. He handled the situation in a fair way as he interpeted the rule. Might want to have Ray reveiw the rule with his staff. The umpire in question called a good game otherwise, no harm done.

Discussion: Bat Warmers

As we all know it is not healthy for our Bats to use them in cold weather. I have a Bat Warmer and was using it in St. George because of the inclement weather. I was told by the umpire that it was illegal, much to my suprise. His explanation was,it is considered altering the Bat!? Could I please get a clarification. It is not my intention to alter the Bat,I only want to use it during Tournaments year round and not damage the Bat, when temps are below 65 degrees. This interpetation of the rule would restrict usage of our very expensive Bats during many Tournaments! One would have to consider paying out the money for a PART TIME bat! My Bat warmer is a home made box with wood, clear plastic, and foil, concentrating warmth from the sun. A gift from a Teammate. Further clarifcation from SSUSA would be apprciated. Thought this question would be useful to all of us who are playing year round.

Having played in this Tourney in the past, we were extremley disapointed with the fields as well as the maintances between games. There are other alternative ball parks that Top Gun could utilize, Kit Carson fields are out dated and allowed to be rundown. Not suprised by the cancellation. Also , there was a Tourney cancelled in P.S. is this the sign of the times , (economics) ?!

Jeez!? All I wanted was info. on Hotels. I have no problem orgaizations calling their "own" events what ever they wish. I agree with Marv it is all in the marketing. Although the Thread was hi-jacked it dosen't bother me, however the Bat/Ball issue has been beat'n to death. As, gott2play wrote, "Just Play Ball".
