March 23, 2009 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: ONE BASE AFTER HR Just to add my opinion on this subject...Playing in the worlds a couple of years back I hit what I thought was a grandslam, but the runner on 3rd base either wasn't paying attention or had a senior moment and step on the home plate, he was called out and luckly it was only the second out of the inning.. I wasn't mad at the umpire or the other teams manager it was the runner I was mad at... If the rule states you must touch the next bag, then you should be heads up enough to do so... Rules are there for a reason so aware when in the game to understand them or get a runner who does! |
Nov. 19, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: Product review Discussion: Nokona gloves I agree bought the Nokona softball 14" edition glove and thought it would be a glove I would have for years to come... I was wrong always felt like I was playing with a weight on my hand never did feel comfortable and never seemed to break in for me... sold it after a year bought a Liberty worth and it is breaking in nicely... I will say Nokona was well made just to heavy and not very user friendly... |

Oct. 29, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Clarification Dirty, I agree with some of your comments but change is always needed for improvement in any sport be it equipment or workouts and no one will ever get it perfect... "All" bats have the potential for injury, a hit ball, thrown bat and those bats left on the playing field... Should we outlaw them all and maybe just throw the ball?? but wait theres a risk there to... hmmm maybe just kick it... no theres risk there to...Then theres the ball, not to mention the field and other equipment.... and the list goes on... Sports are a risk to play and I know you know that... Senior bats are here to stay and I find them a little more forgiving than my other bats but being a line drive hitter I can smoke them thru the infield as fast as with the senior bats. I go out and you must to and play as hard as I can and use the euipment that is the best and whats legal at the time... every true athelete always looks for an edge, be it shoes, bats working out specific muscles or whatever... |
Oct. 27, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: TOC Florida - Tampa or Orlando airport? I have gone to the TOC for the last 2yrs and it seems that flying into either airport is the same in distance... price would be the major concern pick the best deal and go for it... side note head down to the Everglades it is well worth taking the time to see... June 2, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Softball Experiences Survey Koived, went to the site as I was curiuos dosen't seem to be anything there?? you need a password can I use yours? It dosen't matter what the subject is or was if someone is accussing someone, be man enough to stand by what you say with making it known who you are! I think everyone here or most of the players here want to know who saying things! To the SSUSA Staff time to make it mandatory for you to have a profile of who you are!!!Koived is this how you try to get a point accross making more accusations because I ask a question? So it sounds like you were his team mate? So you are to young to play senior ball? Koived hopefully nobody comes on here someday and says stuff about you and you can't even find out who it was.. I am done trying to communicate with you should have quit the first time, wasting mine & everyones time, should have treated as what it was, ramblings from a unknown ranter... |
June 2, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Softball Experiences Survey Koived whats his site where he runs his bussiness? I would like to see it for myself, do you know this guy personelly or is it all hear say?... As far as I know we seniors use the best bats out there U2, COMBAT, LAUNCH! why would you need to have them juiced? So how is this guy effecting seniors which is what this board is for? and again if you stand by your statements who are you? do you even play senior ball? If you are afraid to say who you are and want to hide in this fact then I guess this is the kind of man you are!! I will take Einstiens stand and just ignore you and your posts... |
June 1, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Softball Experiences Survey I took this survey and it seemed to be asking the same questions we have hashed out on this board before... I agree with Eviro-Vac nothing new...Dosen't seem to ask overall questions seems to be slanted at looking for something they want to use against someone or some thing??? I have one thing more to say when Einstien want on the warpath about people having to put there name and other info on this board I will admit I was one of the people who said no.... but seeing this guy "koived" keep taking post and turning them into a slander post it makes me think if you state something be man enough to say who you are? do you play? KOIVED are you a bat Doc who has something agianst this Krueg?? Did he do a bat for you you did'nt like? Did his team beat up on yours? be a man and say who you are!! Einstien you were right! we do need to be accountable for the things we put out here! |

March 28, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: Bats Discussion: combat end cap It seems to me that doing this is setting yourself up for someone to question your bat at a tourny!!... why should it be up to the consumer to try and fix a known problem with a product! You paid your hard earned $$ for it, Combat should step up and first fix the problem and exchange the bad bats fornew ones... Time to step up Combat, don't be the next Miken to just ignore a problem... |
March 12, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking for a team in Temecula/Murrieta Send me a e-mail at joly2@cox.net ... thanks John |
Feb. 27, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SAY A PRAYER Sorry to hear about Mike, did not know him personelly but prayers and hope's go out to him and his family. Senior Softball is like a family in it's self, we have fun together and we fight but when it comes down to it in the end were all family and we feel each others pain and our own mortality when things like this happen....prayers and God's speed in getting well... |
Feb. 19, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: TOC 50 Champions Just Like to say in the 50 AAA division it was an evenly matched division, all games were well played and it goes to show if you match up the best teams you get the best played games! My congrads to all the teams and to a very good Frederick's team that was a great playing against and a good buch of guy's! #19 DoublePlay |
Jan. 7, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: What would you change in Senior Softball? How much faster is it having a 1&1 pitch count or a 0&0 count...Ihave played with both and never thought it will speed up the game, to many other factors come into play, Have the teams ready to play, umpires should control this along with the team managers! It seems to me I play for the pure enjoyment of playing and I don't want this to turn into another thing that is condensed and pressured to be hurried thru instead of being enjoyed and played hard. Extend the time of a game by 10 minutes. How many tourny's do we wait for our field to finish when some fields stand empty?? TD's, have flexibility to move fields to save time..softball is made to play hard and enjoy!! |
Jan. 7, 2008 jolly52 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: What would you change in Senior Softball? 1 & 1 count not in favor of it... I like to see a pitch or 2 to set my timming down, If they expand the strike zone advantage pitcher with the 1 & 1 count, expand the strike zone but leave the count at 0 & 0. Boston, 50 AAA has always had the most turnout and been the most competitive division with almost any team capable of winning the tourny, your area is short on 50AAA teams? Overall Senior Softball is working well except the player issues with Major +, let them play and drop the constictions about playing were they want. I like playing Senior Ball got tired with playing with the younger guys with the ego's and the bad sportsmenship, don't tinker to much or it might just get broke! jmo |
Dec. 21, 2007 jolly52 | Topic: Bats Discussion: Does the weight of the bat matter? I am not an expert in any way... but all bat shells are not created equally and may vary fron 1/4 oz to a 1oz so rods are differn't in size to alow for the disired wieght, say a 30 oz may have a 3" to 5" rod, so the rods match with the wieght of the shell and finished with a rod to the desired oz. Next time you break a U2 look at the rod and compare it with another at the same wieght most will vary in length. Adding wieght to the end of the bat would not accomplish what you want as wieght with a rod is carried thru the entire handle evenly as this is why the use a rod in the center of the knob, might be able to remove the 26 oz rod and slide in another one from a 28oz donor bat as long as this is legal and dosen't fall under altering rules. jmo |
Dec. 13, 2007 jolly52 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: IT APPEARS THAT SOME SENIORS HAVE NO RULES. Desertguy, let me applaud you for clatifying the answer, if I felt like Brett this should give him some relief in thinking he was being pick on in the rating's and he should send in his appeal letter ASAP to the proper channel. I play for DoublePlay and were are a solid team that plays good together as a team but we don't walk on water in the AAA division and if the powers to be decide to move us up then will go up and play hard as we have always have. I have played on this team for a year and never saw any sandbagging or anything but giving it our all. Could'nt ask for a better bunch of guys to call teammates and friends. Is there something personel in this??? |
