| Nov. 7, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Winter worlds--vegas Dave, thanks for the update. Sorry to hear the team disbanded. The Tucson Bandits were a very good 50 Major team. Lots of changes. |
| Nov. 7, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Winter worlds--vegas Dbax, Mikey would be a great addition for Vegas, a 110% guy. That said, I'm looking to play in Vegas also. Played the last 3 plus years with Barcelona Bandits. Currently playing 55 Major but team not going. Email or call me at 310-489-4957. Tony Baltazar |

| Oct. 13, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking to play with 50 Major team in Phoenix Easy fellas. I posted this for an ex-teammate because he was having technical difficulties with the site. He was fully prepared to go through the approval process should any team contact him, so I take offense to the insinuation (turn2) of any wrongdoing . Without getting into details, the bottom line is he expected to be going with his old team, isn't, and wants to play. |

| Sept. 13, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: B.A.S.A. WORLD TOURNAMENT Ron, Congratulations to you guys on winning BASA. Great to hear that you were able to put together a team capable of winning it all...that's a big deal. Adding to what Kennard stated to Gary19, I thought the World Championships in Phoenix were the WASA Worlds :) Just kidding...enjoy the well earned BASA Champion status. | Sept. 2, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: LVSSA World Masters Dbax, I just checked out the LVSSA site and you're absolutely right...possibly the most poorly designed, non user friendly site that I've seen. I was just looking for "tentative" field assignments for the 55 Majors and all they list at this point are the 5 fields they'll be using. SSUSA's site is the Mount Everest of sites compared to this. |

| Aug. 31, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Associations Discussion: leagues OC, There is a Sunday morning men's senior league (single wall, aluminum bats only) going on now. They play at both Murdy and the Sports Complex off of Goldenwest. Tony |
| Aug. 2, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: CAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS CAT, Don't forget Santee, Escondido, and Poway. All great complexes...and better yet, a short drive to San Diego. Expanding on the lack of participation here, Roll With 2 (50 Major) appears to have dropped out of this tourney. So we're left with three 50 Major teams (2 from So Cal), and two 50 Major Plus teams. In the lower, five 50 AAA teams (1 from So Cal), and one 50 AA team. Pretty pathetic turnout. |
| Aug. 2, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: CAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS I'm a little disappointed with the turnout from the So Cal teams. The whole point of moving the California State Championships (according to SSUSA) was to better accommodate and attract more So Cal teams. I guess the heat in the Central Valley is keeping teams away. With the smaller turnout, it looks as though they'll combine the 50M and 50M+ into the 50 Platinum Division like they did for the Western Natl's. My only issue with this is possibly getting sent to the loser's bracket, or worse...getting sent home by a M+ team Oh well, it is what it is, for now. | Aug. 1, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: CAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS Any time-frame as to when the participants list will be published? Not the schedule, just a participants list. The entry deadline was 7/26 (last Tuesday). Hell, the Men's 65 through 80 start in a week. |
| June 24, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Western Nationals Sir Canuck, Check out the Best Western Shadow Inn. Great rates, clean remodeled rooms, pool, jacuzzi, and a gas station and restaurant right next door. It's right off I-5 and about 2 miles for the playing facility. Great hotel. SSUSA doesn't list them on their preferred hotel list...go figure. | June 24, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: The knee.....still and again Mel, I've had 3 surgeries on my left knee (all meniscus/cartilage), the last being 5 years ago. I experienced pain afterward and was told that I had pretty severe osteoarthritis, was bone-on- bone and that if I kept playing I would be looking at knee replacement in a couple of years. I tried the 3 shot Hyaluronan route a couple of times but didn't find that it helped me much. I'm sure others have found it beneficial. What seems to work best for me is taking two Aleve and at least 1500mg of Glucosamine with Chondroitin every day. I play on a 50 Major and 55 Major team, plus city leagues. I do see that you are older than me, and know nothing of your knee history, but my suggestions can't hurt. Good luck, Tony Baltazar Barcelona Bandits - 50 Major So Cal 55's - 55 Major |
| May 25, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: illegal bat/altered/shaved 50, this should help. Straight from the Rulebook Tony Baltazar Barcelona Bandits - 50 Major So Cal 55's - 55 Major 3.4 (7) PENALTY FOR USING AN ALTERED BAT A. SSUSA agreed to follow the 2007 Summit Altered Bat Recommendation: Penalty for Using an Altered Bat: If a bat is suspected of being altered to enhance performance, a tournament official will determine if the bat will be allowed to be used in play or will request that it be voluntarily released by the owner for inspection. If the player refuses to immediately release the bat to tournament officials, the player will be suspended for 10 years, the manager for one year, and the team will forfeit all games played in the current tournament. If the player voluntarily releases the bat and it is found to be altered to enhance performance, the player will be suspended for 5 years and the manager for one year. The bat (if surrendered by the owner) will be held and forwarded for testing through the National SSUSA Office at the conclusion of the tournament. A second offense may result in the lifetime ban of the player. Immediate actions for use of an altered bat will also result in the following: A. Batter will be called out and ejected from the tournament. B. Base runners will be instructed to return to the base(s) occupied at the time the suspected altered bat was used, providing there are fewer than three (3) outs. C. The bat (if surrendered by the owner) will be held and forwarded for testing through the National SSUSA Office at the conclusion of the tournament B. Proceedure for handling and safeguarding a suspected altered bat: 1. The Tournament Director/site director will immediately take possession of the surrendered bat. Under no circumstances will the bat be allowed out of the Tournament Director’s/site director’s possession. 2. The Tournament Director/site director will write a receipt for the bat and give it to the person who surrendered the bat. 3. The Tournament Director/site director will attach a piece of tape to the bat showing the player’s name address and telephone number and the team name, address, and telephone number. 4. The Tournament Director/site director will forward the bat to the SSUSA headquarters with a note explaining why the bat(s) are suspected of being an altered bat. 3.4 (8) PENALTY FOR USING AN ILLEGAL BAT A. Any attempt to use an illegal bat in SSWC or SSUSA play will result in the batter being ejected from the tournament. B. The batter will also be called out. C. The base runners will be instructed to return to the base(s) occupied at the time the illegal bat was used, providing there are fewer than three (3) outs. D. The Tournament Officials will request the owner of the bat to surrender it for forwarding it to SSWC Headquarters. A player’s failure to voluntarily surrender the bat to tournament officials will result in an immediate minimum of one year suspension from play. There will be a subsequent hearing to determine if additional sanctions against the player shall be imposed, and if the bat will be returned to the player or destroyed. |
