| April 29, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Hotels ? Unbelievable fellas... this started out as a request for hotel recommendations, and somehow (but not surprisingly) morphed into the bat / ball combination subject...again. What's the common denominator here, any guesses? C'mon man! Just play ball. |
| April 28, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Hotels ? Gary19, Who cares what they call it..it is what it is, a friggin' senior tournament! They call Phoenix the Worlds, what about that? TOMAR was just asking about accommodations, why make it any more than that. |
| April 28, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Hotels ? Tommy, if you're talking about the Western Nationals in Woodland, stay at the Best Western Shadow Inn. Great rates, clean remodeled rooms, pool, jacuzzi, and a gas station and restaurant right next door. It's right off I-5 and about 2 miles for the playing facility. Great hotel. We've stayed there the last two years but for some reason SSUSA didn't list them on their preferred hotel last year...go figure. | April 26, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Women's softball Discussion: Houston National Senior games johndeere, Just wondering if you played a qualifying tourney. My wife's team is going so I inquired about playing with a 50 or 55 men's team needing a player. Since I didn't play in a qualifying tourney with anyone, was told that I was ineligible. Tony |
| April 8, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Bats Discussion: SENIOR REEBOK Big Cat, I swung a 26 end load in my last game in Mesquite. All I can say based on 4 AB's is nasty!! Ball just jumped off the bat. I had swung a Miken U2 for 4 plus years, and now I'm trying others to see if they are more durable. I'll see how the Melee does in next weekend in Laughlin I also carry an original Combat, an MM Combat, a Launch 510 and a Reebok Melee...all great bats as well. | April 7, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Women's softball Discussion: Orange County player looking for women's 40+ team Taits, I don't think the women have the same restrictions as the men with regard to players being from bordering states. I think it's because their participation is not as great as the men. |
| April 3, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Emergency trip To Florida, Need Recommendations Ed, If you or your wife have a AARP card, try aarp.com. I got a rental a few years back for $14 per day. Also, most rental car companies will give price breaks for long term. Try AAA too...maybe even call, tell them the situation and maybe they'll be able to help out. I would even call the rental companies. Tony Baltazar |
| March 15, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Bats Discussion: Has Anyone Else Had Problems With The Reebok ME'LEE Legend Senior Softball Bat Because Mine Cracked After 45 Hits Any Durability Problems? Mark, Not sure why I purchased the Melee as I was always a Miken U2 guy. After breaking yet another U2, I was done bought the MM Combat (love it), and just ordered a Launch 510 from "batsunlimited.com". They had Worth make 500 for them. You may want to try one out. Their toll free is 800-929-0959 Tony Baltazar #22 Barcelona Bandits - 50 major #35 So Cal 55's - 55 Major |

| March 12, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: What 50 Major teams are playing in Mesquite/St. George Barcelona Bandits will be there. What's up with that new world class softball complex in Mesquite? They told us two years ago that it would ready in a year. Still waiting. |

| Feb. 17, 2011 gott2play | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Top Gun Championships SSUSA, with the Top Gun Championships in San Diego a week away, how come there's no information posted yet? Would be nice to have info like who's playing where (Poway or Santee), what teams are coming, etc. Am playing 55 Major for this tourney. For my 50 Major Team, I called the office last week and asked what location we might be playing this year at the Spring Worlds (Mesquite or St George). We played in St George last year so I assume that we'll be in Mesquite this year. SSUSA staff suggested that I book rooms in both cities...seriously? I've already booked rooms for my entire team in Mesquite. C'mon man, help a brotha out. Tony Baltazar Barcelona Bandits ARMADA - 50 Major So Cal 55's - 55 Major |
| Jan. 17, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Bats FOFO, We were in Menifee last weekend and broke two U2's (one of them mine) and two U2 Maxload's. I was in Menifee this weekend with 55 Majors and my buddy broke his U2 and a guy from the R & R broke a brand new Grey U2 after 6 swings!!! That said, I'm done with Miken bats until they get durability issues resolved. Swinging my original Combat Da Bomb (indestructible) and purchased an MM Combat which I used some this past weekend...NICE! Tony Baltazar Barcelona Bandits #22 50 Major |
| Jan. 10, 2011 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: HOW ABOUT; BROKEN REEBOK THREAD Crusader, I would contact the company you purchased from. After 10 swings (and the wrapper still on) they should replace it. They'll certainly be able to tell it's brand new. A teammate of mine had a Miken U2 break after 3 games...we called them and they told us to get obtain a Return Authorization # (online). Even though these bats are with no warranty, most companies (at least Miken) will be reasonable. Can't hurt to try. Good luck. |
| Dec. 7, 2010 gott2play | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Spring World in Mesquite and St. George Don, SSUSA tends to keep the same dates for the major tournaments year after year. That said, you can pretty much be assured that the Spring Worlds in Mesquite and St George will be Mar. 25-27 this year. Tony Baltazar Barcelona Bandits - 50 Major |
| Nov. 29, 2010 gott2play | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Las Vegas Hey Paul, Thanks for the kind words. I've told my teammates of my respect to your team for battling every inning that day. Even with your injuries (I've been there too) you guys just wouldn't give in and that showed alot about your team. I'm still shaking my head over the 17 you rolled against Omega Construction after they rolled 17. We stood in the cold and watched that whole thing unfold. Amazing stuff. Good luck to you guys on next season. Tony Baltazar #22 |

| July 27, 2010 gott2play | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Battle of the Borders Dirty, Your statement, "Implement reasaonable bats and balls and the HR derby does not exist" as you suggest would not have changed a thing in this particular game. These are big dudes (the USA 1B was 6'6" and 275lbs) and some of the best power hitters in softball. I'm just saying that even with "normal" equipment, 300' fences is nothing for these guys |
| June 9, 2010 gott2play | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking to Play in Rock 'N' Reno - June 4-6. Hey Gary, Great meeting you in Reno, you were all class my friend. Personally, I think we should have given you more time on the mound, but what do I know? I'm sure you'll catch on with another team quickly and we'll see you at the next tourney. Good luck the rest of the year. Tony Barcelona Bandits #22 |
