Mike, I do remember you going through that but had no idea how quickly you were back out and active afterwards! Pat will be happy to know that! Pat ended up having triple bypass, and is in pain but doing well. His Dr. told him he can resume playing again next year.

I totally disagree with Andy C. ! Turn 2 is a very good team and desrves to play in the age bracket that they are registered in! As a matter of fact, I feel, they should not go up to 65 because they are quite capable of playing 60 Major plus! And I will also state after having played in Manassas this past weekend, that we ( High Street Bucs 60's ) NEVER requested that Turn 2 be placed in any other division of play because we did not want to play them . We played Turn 2, in what was a well played game on both sides, and lost 13 - 12. We also played Pace the next day and lost 28 -27. I have the greatest respect for all members of Turn 2, and one member, Andy Zitnay, plays for the High Street 60's in league ball with us, and we are proud to have him with us! We have played and will continue to play any team that is on our schedule! And I also agree with Webbie, Turn 2 sets the bar, and anyone that has a competitive spirit and strives to be the best, should want to play the best! And one more thing, it was great being there to see Ray Ray get inducted into The Hall Of Fame, nice ceremony

I for one have no knowledge of The High Street 60's not wanting to play Turn 2. Yes, we have been beaten by Turn 2, as well as many teams that they play! Just look at the results of the 60 Major Plus SPA Nationals in Dalton, GA. They are a damn good team and I don't care if they have guys that are 65, they are good! If High Street made that request to R.B. it is without my knowledge!

In the 55 majors Triangle Masters had to Doubledip Sweet to win it, but I'm not sure who won. High Street doubledipped Spicers to win the 55 Major Plus.

Hey Harry, I guess if you're not going it's ok to shovel. LOL Well, as of now we are still going, sorry that you guys aren't. I always enjoy talking to you. We will be short at least 1 player, but if we get snow around our departure date, that may change. It's hard for us to keep in shape enough to play in the TOC, as much as I enjoy it (3rd year in a row)I may make this my last one! Just to eliminate the worry of whether we'll have a team to compete. I'm with you Ross, move the TOC to November!!!!!

Those balls were great! Soft to the touch but once you made contact, they took off. We had some great games on Sunday in the 55 Major. A little rain early in our game against Docs/ Green Canteen, but it cleared up after the 2nd inning. Good team, great group of guys. We went on to face a very tough hitting team, the Minnesota Greyhounds, taking them to the last inning of the if game, where they came from behind and won. Congrats to the Greyhounds, a very good, hard hitting classy team, with a never say die attitude.

Discussion: Just curious....

Since winning should be the goal of every team upon entering any game, then the latter would be my choice. But as you well know, homeruns are part of the game. In most of the tournaments that I have played in since 2002, the HR limit very seldom is reached by both teams in any game. I have played against teams who have come out blasting the ball against us, reach their HR limit early, and take early leads. And when that limit has been reached, we go to work, with consistent hitting, and use the HR's when needed. I would rather have a team loaded with reliable consistent hitters, but in the Major and Major-plus brackets, most teams have those guys in place. Being able to depend on someone to deliver a HR in a time of need is also a great thing to have.

DD,

Thanks for the kind words about the Bucs. You and your whole team are a first class organization. It was a pleasure to compete against such highly competitive teams, because that made winning all the more memorable. It just worked out for us that the guy we would want to come up most in that situation, came up, and came up big. You guys had us where you wanted us. In close games like that, one small mistake can be huge. So, a tip of the hat to your team, Greco Hitmen, and also to another classy group of ballplayers, Texas Legends, and the rest of the 55 Major teams who competed in the SPA National Championship in Dalton, Georgia.

canljack,

Thanks for the kind words for High Street. You guys from West Coast are a very good team and it was a pleasure getting to know and play against you guys. Yes, we did have our own little series within a series, and they were some very good games. We knew that 40 you put up against the Columbus 55's in that heat had to take it's toll on you guys, along with maybe some jet lag.Glad to see you all made it back home safe and sound, and maybe one day we can get out to Cali., to play you guys on your turf.

I thought that the SPA tournament in Dalton was very well run by Ridge and the whole group ine SPA. The complex in Dalton is great! It was very hot and humid, and after a long day of playing ball, it was nice that they had golf carts ushering players to and from the fields. What a great service. We played in the 55 major brackett, and it was very competitive, great teams all. It was a pleasure to play teams from so many different areas, California, Arizona, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, Georgia and we are from Maryland. It was so much fun. I also got to meet the man, Einstein, great meeting you Joe. Also Don Ward and Bruce Fairchild. That is what Senior Softball is all about, playing hard hitting, highly competitive softball, at a great complex run by a great organization, and meeting and making great friends. I couldn't ask for anything more.

High Street Bucs 55's will be there. We are a major team, out of Baltimore. It would be nice to know what times we will be playing Friday because a lot of our guys will be driving. And I agree, it will be great to be playing different teams.
