Discussion: Trump Stote Softball Concerns

Dave, you know what's hilarious? Or sad? That you used two different balls in the TOC and Mesquite and they both performed poorly in warm weather. We haven't even gotten to hot weather yet.
I made a mistake thinking the same ball was used in the TOC and Mesquite. My bad. At least if the same ball had been used in both places, it just would be one ball the under performs, not two.
Once again, the players have spoken about the poor quality of balls used by SSUSA.

NYGNYY, it's funny you noticed that. I was playing in the TOC in Florida, February, 2017. We were playing 60 Major. When it was cool, (60's and below) the ball was fine. We played a 4 o'clock game and the temp was mid to upper 70s. Not one ball got near the fence. It was a completely different ball. We then played at 7. temps back in the low 60's. ball was great once again. They do not do well in the heat. It was not even hot, just in mid to upper 70s. Just as you described. Could be a long summer.

Well, they were the only 65 M+ so I guess they should have won?

It's funny you should ask. I was reading the list of teams going and comparing it to what they had won. I didn't see them winning anything.
I thought maybe they just changed their name?

Discussion: Fields at Shadow Rock

Dave, you are really going to try and defend Shadow Rock based on someone playing on an ever worse field than Shadow Rock? Which is hard to believe. Those two fields in front are awful. Not level, rocks everywhere, ruts, clumps of grass and weeds in the outfield. Tons of bare spots. The dugouts didn't even have a cover on them.
I played there last year in the finals of 55 AAA. 105 degrees everyday and no cover. It doesn't sound like it got any better. The back two fields, great.

seems like this is some thing you should take up with ISSA not SSUSA. Let me guess, you are playing 55 AAA?

Discussion: No more five innings games

Played in a SPA tourney this weekend and due to weather, they were trying decrease playing time for games. They also wanted to get all the games in. They started using a 2 and 1 count. It made it a hitters game. You could walk in two pitches or you could strike out in two pitches. Normally with a 0-0 count, you as a batter could be more selective and as a pitcher you could throw more junk. Get a 1-1 count, pitcher could throw junk. Not with a 2-1 count. Get that first strike in, you need to be close on the second. Only takes two balls to walk. As a batter you would look for the first good pitch. There were a good number of K's due to people fouling out.
95% of all the games were played. It was just a quick as a five inning game and you got in all seven innings. Not a sermon, just a thought.

this is a nice tourney. it's always a little cooler up north, which is good thing. I've stayed at the comfort in twice and had problems both times. The nicest thing I can say about it is it's close to the fields...look somewhere else first.

Discussion: Are possible changes ahead for future TOC tournaments

Wild card teams can get in with losing record. If you allow (even second place teams) that to happen,it is no longer the TOC, it's just a tournament.

I always put a sticker on my bat. I had them custom made for about a buck a piece. I also put a scratch or mark somewhere on the knob.
Never had a mix up with a bat.

Instead of being too technical, why not just get the one fits your swing? The one you feel comfortable with? That's all that matters
