| March 28, 2013 TGIII | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Promoting Tournaments I agree with the message board that it is great to know the teams that are signed up ahead of the deadline. Since I'm involved with the SSUSA Top Gun Tournaments, I try to keep a running total of the teams signed up as historically the tournaments have filled up before the deadline. I usually e-mail those teams and managers that have previously signed up for a Top Gun Tournament or have contactd me to add them to the invitation list. I also update our interest list of teams in the California, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah areas to send invitations to them to join us in SoCal. It is easier to communicate with teams when you are dealing with a qualifying tournament. With the Major Tournaments, there are many last minute changes and it would be problematic to try and post a complete list of teams in real time prior to the deadline. Having managed a team in the past, our teams travel because of the tournament and competition. We have never shyed away from a tournament because of the teams entered. I will agree that it is less desiable to travel out of town and play in a bracket with one or two other teams. |
| March 25, 2013 TGIII | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Please send you thoughts and prayers... for the RUDY FLORES FAMILY... To the Flores Family. On behalf of the Top Gun Senior Softball Family, I extend our thoughts and prayers to you in this time of saddness and reflection on the life of your son, husband, and father. We will all miss Rudy for his competitiveness and sportsmanship displayed on and off the field. He was an ambassador of the game and will be remembered forever. Side Note: My utmost respect and admiration to the players of SoCal 55's for keeping Rudy's dream alive and competing at the highest level in the Spring World Tournament. | Nov. 29, 2012 TGIII | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Thoughts for the upcoming SSUSA Rules Committee meeting! An idea for the base dimensions: 40+ - 60+ divisions 70' bases 65+ - 80+ and all women's divisions 65' bases. Just a thought. |
| Nov. 29, 2012 TGIII | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Thoughts for the upcoming SSUSA Rules Committee meeting! After reading all of the e-mails I can't help but offer an opinion. In major+ as well as all of the other divisions, all teams are not created equal. I am not a major+ player or a player on a major+ team. I agree that breaking up the teams is not an option in my opinion. But I would offer up the idea of an equalizer. How about any Major+ team that wins a major championship or has a game winning percentage over the course of the year at or above 75% that they give other Major+ teams not rated at that level a run for each inning played. This option might help the newcomer Major+ teams to be competitive with the longstanding teams. JMHO. |

| Aug. 2, 2012 TGIII | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: The Passing of John "Senior" Sanzo Johnny I had the honor and privilege to step on the same field with your Dad representing USA in Cuba in 2011. His quick smile, competitive fire and strong determination to compete at the highest level will be an everlasting memory for me. He represented all that is good with senior softball, sportsmanship, friendship, and a fellow teammate forever. I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to spend one week with him. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Kevin Evans |

I heard a rumor that I would like to dispell. The runmor is that the August Top Gun Tournament is full. To the contrary, the Top Gun Tournament scheduled for August 24 - 26 in beautiful San Clemente, CA has lots of openings and would like to invite you and your team to play. Last year the tournament attracted 32 teams from Arizona, Nevada, and California. Check the senior softball website for the tournament details. The tournament will be played at Richard Steed Park, a fabulous four field complex with 300' fences. Hope to see you on the ballfield. |
