Discussion: 2014 Toys for Tots Softball Tournament

I want to think all the teams that played in this tournament we brought in a bit over 300 toys a very good weekend, there were 4 teams from SAN ATONIO and 7 teams from CORPUS CHRISTI and that's Texas if some of Y'all don't know. The winners were Fajitaville bar & grill North Beach, Corpus-------Team Storm, Corpus------ and Hard Heads, Corpus. There was 50'S AND 60'S ages and 4 divisions. Fajitaville won the 50 and 60's A divisions. Merry Christmas and Happy new year to all.

Discussion: SPA v SSUSA

To me the best and most fair rule SSUSA ever had was the one up HR rule, it evened out the teams pretty well. A good base hitting team can compete with a power hitting team, example--the power hitting team hits a home run and the base hitting team doesn't hit a home run, then the rest of the power teams hits are singles.

I just talked to a player from a team in Texas they were a 60 major team came in 7th in Vegas world tournament, but they did win SPA in Dalton but the tourney wasn't finished because of rain and now they are moved up to major plus hard to figure that one.

Discussion: 1 and 1 pitch count

Marv19 it wouldn't make any difference with a 0-0 or 1-1 count with the game going long if you have and open inning with your scenario . Also Pitcher22 I pitch to and I don't want to have to gut ball pitch till I have to if nibbling at the edges don't work.

Discussion: Player rating

SSUSA -- THE reason I said there might be a catch is I know a 60 major player went and played for a 50 major team in vegas, and when the coach of the 60's team went add him to the winter world tournament he was kicked off the rooster for playing for the 50;s team, But as I understand it he can play for the 60's team but the coach has to call in to ssusa for every tournament to put him on the roster.

lewis there is a catch if you play in a division 10 years younger than you. you need to talk to George at SSUSA before you do it.

Discussion: 1 and 1 pitch count

not the perfect pitch but I do look for the one that I like, if the second baseman is playing to much towards second or there's a big hole between third and short etc. etc. I wait till the pitcher puts it where I want it, if possible.

someone tell where I'm wrong but regardless of a o-o count or a 1 & 1 count, there is a time limit so if you play a 5 or 6 or 7 inning game it's not the count that causes the games to run behind. if I'm paying to play in a tournament $400 OR $700 I don't want to be rushed at the plate because the T.D.'s want to hurry teams through like cattle. At the worlds you play 65 or 70 minute games then the open inning. And again there is a TIME limit.

Discussion: Water Coolers

I want to think the West Coast major team and the other teams that used the water coolers to soak there game balls and towels in the coolers. and now no water coolers in the dug outs , which way a very good thing to have water in the dugouts.

Discussion: WHO TAKES CARE OF THE FIELDS @ ARROYO GRANDE?

I played at Arroyo Grande the fields where in very good shape mon. thru Thursday the crews worked on the fields some what but overall I thought the fields looked good. one fact though is there was just one commode and two urinals and that caused quite a line.

Discussion: San Marcos,Tx

I want to thank Larry Kasper AND Ron Perkins for running the tournament in San Marcos this week/weekend it had some strange game assignments but it all worked out. Larry K. ran the tourney umped played and filled the water coolers now that's stress. The rain came and the grounds crew got the fields back in shape they did a great job.
