I had the same experience as you Omar. We came in third in the 55+ division but won the AAA and they called us back to give us our awards and all tourney patches after we had left the dugout.

No, If we were to go to dumb down balls or bats in senior softball, I'd play with real balls and bats in the great state of California. NCSSA is for those players who want top competiton every other week.

Discussion: why does it take so long to put the results in for a tournament

Thanks Webbie, It was a very even and tough bracket. We had one call go our way that opened the door for us to get in the championship round. Snow and sleet on Sat and Sun. Monday was a good day to play. Comming from the bay area the weather was something we never had to deal with. Take care and be safe out there.

Webbie kind of glad you guys weren't in Reno. You beat the hell out of us last year. Maybe your absence was the reason we won. ODB 55AAA

Thanks Joe, It took a total team effort to win this one. Snow sleet 30 and below Temps 12 players and Rick going 30 - 33. First ring for ODB. Great job by Gerald putting us in a postion to win. Special thanks to our 60+ players Steve Joe D. David Lee and our pitcher Feliez. Couldn't have done it without them.

Gary please, we get your point. You make me not want to look at this site because of your constant negative views of our game. I understand as most your views on protective eguipment and dummying down the game because of our eguipment. You don't have to point this out on every thread you post on. WE GET IT.

Discussion: How did you get your start in softball?

After playing baseball at St. Mary's College (Moraga Ca.) Contra Costa College (San Pablo Ca.) and In the A's Org. I sat out from any contact with baseball or softball for five yrs. Then a friend of mine who played on a coed team and invited me to come to one of there practices to drink some beer and have a few laughs with the ladies.. I had to swing although I hadn't picked up a bat in five years. After a few swings and hearing the oh's and ah's from the ladies I was hooked. That was 1982. Have not missed a season since.

Discussion: What about Fathers?

I watch my Dad play semi pro (very young) in Oakland Ca. at Ramondi Park where we sometimes practice. The first time I saw my wife was at one of these games. Her father and mine played on the same team. And our mothers were good friends. I also was able to see my father play 8-10 years of softball unlimited arc in west Oakland at Lowell park where I also played. Great thread.

You don't have to dig the knife in any deeper. They said enough is enough and that means both sides of the arguments. Don't start stuff by gloating.

Discussion: Championship game scoring

We played 55 AAA and there was a total of 8, 0 run innings by our opponents and 7 by us. We went 3-3 in Reno. I know these teams can hit so some of us must play defense. We also reached our hr limit once. We play to win out here in Norcal not just hit hr's. We have players that can hit hr's but we choose to hit for the situation. And we take pride in our defense. Joe can attest to this I had six unassisted double plays at first base in last years Cal Cup. I'd call that playing defense. And we were playing major then. I take offense to the talk of Norcal players just being bombers. I know the majority of us get great satisfaction out of taking hits away. I know I do.

I agree Jawood. I remember playing with single walls and red dots and the scores were always in the 20 to 30's. I hit more Hr's then then now. My objective now is to hit 800 every tourny and hit long if needed. Not often just enough to keep the defense honest.

Last Minute, not because of the late inning heroics. But for the time the players got to the game.
