Thanks, you guys have a great team and I really enjoy the competitive nature of our games. "Jackson" is one of my favorite people to be around and play against. This is a great game and I too wish a great tournament for you and Morris Farms. See you on the field. # 10

The pure enjoyment of playing far exceeds any disagreements I have with rule differences. When it's all said and done, you still have to throw, hit and catch and I'm thankfull I have the oportunitny to at least attempt all three.

I'm looking forward to the Peach State Classic, I'm with "TIME BANDITS". If you play for Morris Farms, I believe we play you Friday.

How about anything goes but keep it in the age brackets, 50+,55+,60+ etc.. You can play down but not up. Setlle on a good ball and play it early in the year.

Why do we need to keep changing the rules? Has anyone not been having fun. This is a great game like it is, don't keep putting restrictions on it. We are grown men playing a game that has served us well for over half a century, leave the damn thing alone. PLAY BALL!!!!

Discussion: How many batted ball injuries can you attribute to U2 bats?

I haven't seen any.Although, I have heard a lot of tales about injuries concerning the U2 from people who haven't actually "seen any". Is it possible that most of the injuries occured off of legal bats or were contrived to further a point? After reading the comments of player's that have played a lot of games where the U2 was allowed, I'm even more convinced that it is not any more of a safety concern than any other "good bat". The entire "U2" issue seems to be greatly overstated.

I watched the three women that Bruce mentioned get evaluated Saturday. One could could probably play somewhere in the league, but not in the National league. The other two would most likeky get hurt at any level of men's play. I have no problem having women in the league as long as the level of play is not compromised.

Relax, enjoy the moment. Good defense is important (as it is in any sport), but let's face it, softball is about HITTING. IMO, the 1-1 count favors defense and is a distraction to the batter. 0-0 count...........KEEP IT.

Thanks Wood, I'll probably do that. It seems there are a lot good ASA bats and the one to use is the one that feels good to you.

I agree with Wagon487, the Extended (red) is a great bat that gets hotter with use. I'm wanting to try the Rip-it Senior. I believe it's ASA approved.

Discussion: TV Trivia 9

Broderic Crawford arrested Eric Estrada for illegally crossing the border. He adopted him, forever changing his life and leading him to a career in law enforcement with the California Highway Patrol. They later opened a donut shop and got "fat" together. They also sponsored a senior softball team called "Too Fat To Bat".

Elmo, I understand what you are saying about the improved technology of the equipment,BUT that is progress. Equipment and training techniques have improved in all sports and at all levels which has led to a higher level of play all around.Just using a senior bat doesn't guarantee a HR, it just means more people might be able to hit a couple. If it were that easy, there would be a lot more Major + teams. Bruce is right, there have always been player's/Teams that can "go yard" consistantly and there always will be. The truth is, they can also play good defense. Let the big dogs bark!!! I'll see you at CST. It will be my first ST and l look forward to making new friends and playing some ball.

Although I would like to be, I am by no means a HR hitter.
The only chance I have is with the senior bats and with Bruce's guidance, I did manage to hit one out in BP. Home Runs are part of the game with the elite teams aspiring to take it to the highest level. They don't do it by accident, they do it by practice and determination. I would be honored if a major + team allowed me to get my double or triple and let the big gun get an RBI. If you want the focus on defense (mind you, these teams can play defense) then play in a Division more suited to your style. We need to aspire to take our game to higher level, not bring someone else's game down to ours. Seniors have paid their dues, Let us play.

A note for those new to senior ball (rookies); a Senior Rip-It is "not" passing gas in the dugout. That is just wrong, although not always controllable.

Discussion: Bat Warmers

Thanks guys, the information helps a lot. There's so much hype on products and the real truth can only come from "experienced" softball junkies. Players are always looking for an "edge" and ways to help protect our investments in bats, which sometimes makes us vunerable to the "hype". As I plan to play "more" ball before the weather warms up to consistantly 60degrees, I'm trying to learn what the norm is for players accustomed to playing in colder tempratures. I'm hesitant to us a composit and figured on using my Anderson Rocket tech.

Discussion: Is this the most brain dead player in the world????

Playing that close is a direct challenge to the batter and makes the statement " you can't get it past me". I say go with the pitch and if it ends up a laser to him, it's his to make the play. More power to him (EGO and all).
