Webbie I figure that if The Mayans were so good at predicting the future there would still be Mayans around today. =)

Discussion: Funniest Softball Stories

We were playing a local qualifier in Yorba Linda a few years back when this happened. Our mgr and my Bro in law called his own number to run for one of our less then speedy team mates. What he neglected to check was his spot in the batting order, he was suppose to be on deck. Needless to say we and he were pissed. Well the man at the plate strokes a ball to left center and our runner takes off, rounds second with the throw behind him muffed, 1st baseman picks up the ball, throws to third, 3rd baseman muffs the throw and our runner continues on to home, where you guessed it another muffed throw and catch, there were actually 3 errors on the play allowing our fearless leader to not only score, but to pick up his bat and hit. Only in Senior ball.
I wont name Ernie as the runner, but his initials are ES.

Tom I have seen you hit, and never, never have I seen you hit anything less then a 26 hopper, never. Killing of the worms I agree with.

Southernson, if you want something that keeps you laughing, you should talk to Woody when he's coaching. I play SS and he knows how to effectively distract when he is in the 3rd base box. And a truely nice guy. Aint that right Meat.

Discussion: Would Plus ball participation improve if ......

Under this format, where would we move a 40's M+ team who wins a Worlds? Or would they get a pass?
Combining Major & M+ isnt much of an option, there are many Major teams that are just barily there. I dont care to hear about how they should work harder to get better, in most cases that just isnt going to happen no matter how hard they work. imo
However I do like tossing around ideas like this.

Discussion: What are you thankful for?

I am thankful for my children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and especially for my wonderful girlfriend who cared for me through a year and a half of my worst times.
I am thankful for my great team mates and friends who play hard and always support one another.
I thank God daily for all of the above.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Softball Brothers who I have met and those I hope to meet.

Discussion: Questions to ponder.....

At no real cost to whom?
With rare exception Gary, you come on many threads inject your redundance and in most cases highjack them.
While many of us use this board to exchange ideas, look for new equipment, friends or up coming tournaments.
You choose to take up our time by pissing and moaning about the same issues.
It is our time you are taking and for many of us that time is of value.
As for the cost/benefit issue, that isnt for you to say, in a general sense, it may apply to you but you cant speak for anyone else.
It appears by your own admission this is nothing but entertainment for you.
As for the PT Barnum reference, another of your many mundane, redundant references that are not only offensive but without merit.
Why not take your Great Intellect and try using it for something constructive instead.

Discussion: Cheyenne Park for Worlds

Rightrj1, I understand what you wrote, it just doesnt read that way to me.
With the limited number of fields and the overwhelming number of teams where would you have played? If the M+ were moved to other fields someone had to play at Cheyenne.....who?
Sorry if I am misreading your intent. We all know those fields are shit as is the entire park and can only hope its somehow eliminated from future tournaments or repaired to a suitable condition.

rightrj1, I have played Cheyenne and agree they shouldnt be used for anyone, but you also miss the point, reread your inital post, it reads like you are better then other 55 and 60 divisions as far as playing on better fields or being hurt by doing so.
I hope that isnt the case.
Everyone gets a shot at the poor fields now and then.
As far as keeping my mouth closed, it wont happen when I feel like I am being belittled or want to make MY point.
Tony, thanks for your input, it just doesnt read like he probably ment it.

rightj1, what makes you think because you are "the best players in the 55 & 60's" that you deserve anything better then those of us who play in other divisions other then M+?
Maybe its time the M+ took their turn at the crappy parks. If I'm not mistaken our bodies break and bruise much like those of our superior brothers.

The manager of our team, OC Mustangs has recently been hand timed at 4.9 for the 40+ he is a solid 62 years old.
He also recently came in 5th in the 60 div. in the US at the Senior Games in Ohio I think it was. As well as 5th in the World Senior Games in Italy last year in the 60 div.
Gary if you would pull your head out of your posterior and attend a senior event you may see some of these guys run.
They are a true inspiration to see.

Discussion: Hypocrisy

If all I had to do when I came on this site was to PISS and Moan about SSUSA I would stop coming on and save myself the aggrevation. Gary your shit is and has become very old. Same shit with ALMOST every thread that is started.
You seem to have a need to trash nearly everyone and or evrything that is posted, or hijack them to your own selfish need.
Get over your simple ass self and leave those of us who actually support SSUSA play under their rules and with their approved equipment.
Again, I for one am sick and tired of your constant bad mouth shit!

Discussion: Should SSUSA ever bump a team?

Maybe its time for M+ to have their own National association. Grouping all M+ teams in the country. It seems most of the M+ teams dont have an issue with travel.
It would certainly be quite an undertaking but would solve the isuue of small tournament entries or so it would seem.

Discussion: Is winning the most important thing?

Webbie, anyone (imo) who says winning isnt important is kidding themself. However, it, for me isnt the most important thing. my friends, my team mates, and the people I meet while playing softball are what matter most. The competition is second. Then there are the different places we get to see while playing, an added bonus.
Like "DH" Doc said, winning is preferable, but not the end if it doesnt happen.

Gary19, you have every right to express your ideas and opinions, I only wish they werent so repetitive and damning of senior softball and players who choose to play it with the "Special Bats" and rules. You have chosen not to play tournament ball, good for you. We who do continue to play enjoy it as it is. Why continue to beat the dead horse?
