Discussion: Team Looking For TOC Players

Hi John (OTE24), db14 (Dennis first baseman) here. No i will not be attending. There are five starters who for a multitude of VALID & LEGITIMATE reasons cannot go. It continues to amaze me how many self proclaimed experts continue to pontificate. I started this thread SIMPLY to search for an extra player or two, who met ALL SSUSA additional player requirements and the same old individuals who are constantly on every thread chirp in with irrelevant spew taking the thread in their own direction. It is not worth it to address each of their concerns, they may wish to start their own thread. John hope to see you in 2010 as you have always been a class guy and represent your team admirably.

HEY GUYS.....TIME OUT!!! The initial intent of this thread was a simple "looking for players for the TOC" If you wish to hijack a thread to discuss tournament dates, player's associations, rules, world hunger, who shot Kennedy PLEASE start your own thread. I appreciate your passion but we have gotten off the topic.

Discussion: Balls in general

I have reserved my comments and wish to state that i truly understand the issues regarding the quality and performance of the current Senior ball. Much has to do with an individuals type of hitting. Many who typically are considered base hitters are not that passionate regarding a good, solid ball. HOWEVER...i personally hit several times a week AND included in our batting practice balls are several of the actual Trump .52/275 balls TESTED IN LAGUNA CA earlier this year.... FACT: the general consensus is that these balls are in actuality and pardon my expression garbage and very well could be considered a "limited flight" ball. Just another observation.

DIRTY... Sorry but i must have missed it......or it was my over sight but what recent tournament experience have you had that remotely qualifies you to offer any educated input to these discussions? Last i knew city leagues (of which you claim to participate) play primarily ASA ball.....Give it a rest. It is the 21st Century either lead, follow or get out of the way.

Northern California team Timberworks Construction is looking to add to its 2010 roster. We are a 55 Major team looking for several players 100% committed to playing approximately 15 tournaments, a combination of SSUSA and Nor Cal. Any questions please respond to this thread or contact Doug at 530-415-6067. *PLEASE* only major caliber players...thank you.

Discussion: Balls in Manteca tourney this weekend

It does not surprise me. Try this...our team is notified at 8:30 am that our bracket had been cancelled. The story was that the first two teams REFUSED to play on the field they put us on. After an hour and forty-five min. drive and all ready stuck there...i checked out the field. I CANNOT BLAME THE TWO TEAMS IN THE LEAST. A girls softball field: NO FENCES, NO BATHROOMS, NO CONCESSIONS, WEEDS ON THE INFIELD, NO DOUBLE BASES AT FIRST and now the cheapest garbage balls. It may be inappropriate to mention names but in this case Cathy Cortez was the TD and it looks like another case of let's do some money STEALING by putting on a tournament and sticking it to the Seniors!

Just a question to Dave. I understand the 40's and probably the 50's playing with 325' fences. Does this mean that the 55's will be subjected to this as well?

Discussion: Worth 510 Launch - Old or New?

Hello Sisavic. I personally have broken 5 Worth Launch 510's. All within a three month period all with temperatures above 60 degrees and all using decent balls. Not to bore you but there is some interesting history with this bat. They are of course made by Miken. The gold bat is their 2008 model. It is a tiny bit more reliable than the maroon 2009 model. In 2009 the Launch 510 manufacturing changed to China thus the MADE IN CHINA label you see on the bat. They are having numerous issues with the bat. My opinion is that this bat is garbage. The gold bat for my two cents has as much if not the same pop as the Ultra II. (BOTH MADE BY MIKEN). Keep in mind though that they are virtually the same bat and are both extremely fragile as are all Ultra II's. There is a bit more to the story however i hope this will help you some.

Discussion: Warning

Let me preface this comment by stating that i am not taking a guilty or innocent position in any way regarding your bat purchase. I am a SELLER on eBay and have been myself scammed by several BUYERS. I would NEVER intentionally mislead or misrepresent an item. Several buyers have received an accurately described bat only to hit it....not like it....then state there was something wrong with it OR they found the same bat at a cheaper price. They know the cost to reship and or return an item so i have typically refunded part or all of their costs simply as a goodwill gesture. One should ALWAYS inspect closely any bat LONG BEFORE you start hitting with it. There are two sides to every purchase. Hope pay pal works with you if the bat was in fact misrepresented.

Discussion: WHAT BALL FOR RENO

Just my two cents regarding the balls used in Yuba City (Nor Cal) 5/16-5/17 and prior. They were an embarrassment to the game, the players and the sponsors who graciously spend their money enabling us to play. I might caution the tournament directors who may be doing this to save or make a buck or minimize chasing balls....this may backfire.
